What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I see we have a few games on Sky next season, so I looked at my Sky bill to see what I pay for and if can afford the football package.
So, it got me wondering, am I being ripped off?
TV total £77.50
Sky signature (main subscription) £27.50
Ultimate TV add on (not sure what this is) £6
Sky Cinema £19
Sky HD £8
Multiroom £15
Ultra HD £2
Broadband: total £48
Broadband boost £5
Broadband ultrafast 1 £43
How does this compare to what you pay?
What do you pay for sports?

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
cant believe they still charge for HD. bonkers

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I have changed to Vodafone broadband and saved £15 and cancelled Sky this morning as it was getting out of hand. I am going to get NOW TV for £10 a month. I might get the Sports package but haven't decided yet as you can pay for the day as well. There is no contract either so it's up to you when you have it, unless you go for the cheaper option which is 6 months contract.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
Used to get basic package with phone and broadband but also had Netflix and prime. Kids never watched it me and the other half mainly watched the free stuff anyway.
Ditched the phone as there are 5 mobiles in the house, ditched sky and got virgin fibre for £25 a month. Saved a fortune, not missed it at all. Anything you really want to watch you can buy through prime anyway. The series record used to be brilliant but with streaming it is redundant. Still use the sky dish to get free sat on the smart tv

Virgin have just advised me that our Broadband cost will rise from £51 a month to £62 from middle of next month. We've been with them for years.
Full Sky Sports on Sky Q multi room costs us £92 a month.
Some of the figures mentioned on here make it look like I might be paying too much?!

Ive just switched my broadband from Virgin to Brsk and cut my cost from £65pm to £25pm. Speed and stability much better and so glad to be Virgin.
If anyone is thinking about switching to them I've got a referral code which gives us both £75 in Amazon vouchers.

Like others I’m amazed anyone is paying for Sky etc nowadays. The quality of the “alternatives” is so high now there’s no need to bother with anything else.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I pay £44 a month now for sky broadband, sky TV basic package and multi room.
I got rid of sky sports, sky signature, ultra HD etc etc as they were putting price up to £106 a month.
They won’t tell you about the basic tv option unless you ask them. If they want to put your multi room price up like they did with me as soon as I said I’d return it they discounted it to £5 a month for the next 18 months (the last thing they want you to do is return their boxes).
I hardly know anybody now who is prepared to pay for sky sports, movies etc…..sky must be losing subscription fees at an alarming rate.

I pay far too much but its so convenient.... My missus has it it set to record all the soaps / love island etc. I watch and record the F1 plus sky sports news. It records everything we want - never runs out of storage. I'd be very happy to know of a cheaper alternative that can offer the same

Was paying £68 a month for every channel/multiroom/hd etc, jumped to well over £100 when contract deal ended. The very best I could get them down to was £79 a month - I am now a few days from my 31 day notice ending. Be interesting to see if they come back to me next week with a better offer. Been a customer for 20 years so would hope they are going to make a bit more effort

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
My contract for just Sky TV ran out last Friday. I received some good tips from posters on here. We just have the signature package and Sports package which I wanted to continue with but not at the price increase. After a few phone calls I’ve managed the same deal for 24 months at £43.50 per month. We have BT Broadband at £28.50 per month, we intend to look at that when its renewal is due.
Just to add CT made mention to me about being careful with the football package, unbeknown to me they put me on the 2 packs which I didn’t want, SHOWN BELOW. I rang back and said I thought I’d ordered what I’d always had being the full sports pack, not just football, after some discussion It was changed to the full Sports Pack, bizarrely it was a better price 4 days later than when I originally rang. So be careful when you renew your contract.
Sky Sports - 2 Packs
Sky Sports Premier League
Sky Sports Football

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
Rang Sky as our contract had expired in May this year. The bloke at the end of the phone waffled on for what seemed an eternity and basically offered me an £8 reduction on my monthly bill from £93 down to £85.
Was amazed at such a reduction...not. I then decided to give due notice and suddenly his systems magically went down and couldn't progress any further. This was a call centre abroad somwhere.
Rang back the following day and was immediately put through to a young scotsman who accepted my termination without question and we had Sky until the 21st June when they pulled the plug.
Got a firestick during this time and have not looked back.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I was on an 18 month deal
Called this morning…
Offered the same package for £116
I was then offered £108
I declined.
Called back twenty minutes later and was offered 97 but then was offered £89 with SkyGlass. I said I didn’t want sky glass so she offered me 89 on my original offer.
I argued that the SkyGlass offer was much better and having been with Sky for over fifteen years, I would now expect a better offer on my original offer.
She said she could call back next Friday at 11am to try and get below £89 (24 months and no transaction fee)
Hopefully now that the £89 is in the system I can wiggle a few more £££ out of it.
Not rushing!
Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
As Tony said on another thread, Sky are definitely harder to negotiate with now. I would think they'll buckle at some point as they must be losing customers in their droves, particularly during the football off season which is why I'm not bothered being 'cut' off on Sunday!

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
Always amazes me that those who advocate a firestick for illegal viewing of football as usually the same people wondering why we’re not spunking millions on the next player. It’s as if they’re not realising that it is mainly TV money that funds football these days.
Anyway in terms of what I pay - £51/month for everything bar cinema - we also enjoy the F1 and the multiscreen options during a race so definitely worth it for our enjoyment of F1. The football for me is incidental in that respect as I go to the games when I can.
Broadband - £30/month for 160 Mbps with MTHNetworks on FTTP - I could get much higher speeds but don’t need it. WiFi in the home is over a decent Mesh system which improves everything over and above just raw speed from the connection.

Every club had a full squad of players before Sky and their subscribers. If they disappeared tomorrow, footballers would get paid less but the show would go on.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:33 pmAlways amazes me that those who advocate a firestick for illegal viewing of football as usually the same people wondering why we’re not spunking millions on the next player. The writing is on the wall for Sky's current model, a move to streaming on demand is inevitable once the big cheeses work out how to milk the finance side of it. We're currently in the equivalent of the last days of CDs and Blockbuster stores before Netflix and Spotify arrived.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
We have got into calling every 6 months. We get a deal with decent reductions for 6 months then they come off and it would go above what we paid previously. To be fair they always say “call back in 6 months to see what new offers are available”. We do and it’s deja vu. I can live with that.
What ticks me off is €20/month for the second box that probably costs them 50yen and €10/month for HD that is free on all free to air channels

Allegedly with a fire stick you can watch every live game aswell… so my “mate” has told me.

It's crazy there is such disparity between and fairly standard product, with the suppliers relying on apathy for some 0aying more than others.
As for firesticks etc, they serve a purpose if you so wish, though it appears that Sky are forcing others to subsidise their losses by increasing prices due to falling demand. They really need to look at their model or it will fail.

My erm.... mate has had a fire stick for over 5 years now, full HD, all the pay per view. Latest films and box sets, TV channels from around the world. Can also watch it on his phone when he's on holiday.
Apparently.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
A ‘dodgy fire stick’ is a much cheaper alternative but let’s not pretend it’s an equivalent to Sky. You may think you’re getting HD but you’re not, the picture quality and frame rate from a dodgy stream or on demand film are not as good as Sky UHD, ditto the sound. Sky has the ability to record, set programme reminders etc. The functionality and usability is much better. The live events are as live as it’s possible to get, no goal alerts or mates texting goal updates before you’ve seen them gone in. The service is stable - no buffering, no streams cutting out. No service being blocked by an ISP resulting in the need to buy a VPN.
I could go on, but for me a firestick is nowhere near good enough to replace Sky for day to day use. It’s a good back up to access PPV events, non televised games and on demand content. That said, Sky is too expensive and the regular price negotiations are tiresome.

Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I have posted several times about how to get your SkyTV cheaper, albeit it will probably cost you a one off fee of £20 each time…..nobody has acknowledged it but people moan…if you find a package cheaper using one of the comparison sites, or wait until Black Friday, if you call them and request that package then they have to give it to you….you don’t have to wait until the end of your contract…
Re: What do you pay, for your Sky tv/ Broadband package?
I pay £31 for Sky Broadband. I got a basic TV package 7 years ago when I bought my house but cancelled after a year so only have the free channels now, I very rarely watch any of them.
Spend most of my time watching YouTube for free, there’s some incredibly talented creators out there. I also had free Netflix for 5 years until last week until my ex finally kicked me off her plan

She was true to her work (just)
£87 but with an upgrade from superfast to ultra fast broadband thrown in. Deal done.
