To be fair on easy, he is not actually calling out people who come on here and state something as a rumour or something that they have heard .
I think it's more the people who come on acting all mysterious and ITK passing what they say off as gospel.

I must admit, they have been taking it to heart and being a bit overboard the last day or so but it is annoying.
That’s exactly my point mate, speculating is different. It’s like when the FAB went on twitter being all coy about the new kits

I’ve been told that if they’re not in a position to announce the new manager next week they’re hoping to announce him the week after. And failing that, the week after that. I’ve been told that Pace is being diligent in his search and wants to make sure he selects the right man for the job.

RVN just drifted to 14/1 from 6/1 in a matter of minutes.

Must be people betting against him now.

My gut feel, with zero inside knowledge, is that Ruud will be the man.

When Man U appointed ETH, they did it subject to visa etc. if that’s their usual style, why wouldn’t the do the same with appointing Ruud as a coach/assistant etc, it’s not exactly a big risk.

I suspect there is a bidding war at play.

They will be waiting until ETH signs a new contract to announce him as part of their new coaching setup, if he is going there.

RVP would be fantastic I think. He's done great in the job he had, and always sounds very good in interviews. The podcast he was in with Gary Neville he comes across really really well.

Craig Bellamy, although he's been great as the assistant so far, I'm not sure. I think he has hills to climb within himself, not sure taking the main job would be suited to him.

Feels like Pace is dithering slightly now rather than being diligent. It's been over a month since VK left, pre season has started, so we need a manager to get cracking.

Why are people perfectly happy to have Bellamy as the manager, but not ok to have him in temporary charge a bit longer until AP has te time to find the best replacement? Do we not trust him to run a pre-season campaign?

I wouldn't put myself in that camp as I am not 'perfectly happy' to have Bellamy as manager (although I will back him if that's the call). It would just be ideal if the new manager could be in sooner rather than later to start sorting out who will even be at the club next season (that is if they even have much say in transfers now :D).

On a side note - is Bellamy even at pre season yet? I have not seen him on any of the pictures, but other members of staff including Jensen have been pictured at the training sessions.

I’m unsure if this makes me a ‘bedwetter’ or in need of a ‘wet wipe’ but I think it’s reasonable to start questioning why the process is taking so long and indeed how much longer it’s going to take. Especially considering the players are back, there’s a pretty big task at hand in terms of both adding to the squad and trimming down, and the time needed to implement new tactics, strategy etc.

I'm with claretinleeds on this one, the constant bleeting from the needy desperately trying to fill their days with news when there's no news. So many experienced football club board members crying into their hands because we've not got a manager in place yet, telling all & sundry just how they'd have done a better job by now getting the best man for the job!. Just the sort of folk that lose sleep if there's no instant reply once they see the blue ticks !! 🫣

Some comedy on this thread having just done the once a day scan for news.

Gut feel is a delay such as this can only be for a work permit, if it fails a 2nd choice can then be announced as 1st choice. If it was Parker or Bellamy I would expect them to have the job by now. It could be Corberan as he would need a renewal to a Skilled Worker VISA (I am guessing).

Remote chance we are holding out to try to persuade someone like RVN. We tried that with many players last summer, it was often fruitless and left us in a hole. So hopefully not the case.

I don't think it can be Corberan, because he is in a job and if we were prising him from West Brom there would be leaked news all over the place.

It must be a manager not currently employed (or in temporary charge).

Isn't that what we already have? .. or have I missed something.
As I understand it Bellamy is the acting head coach, and this will continue until he either finds another position or we make a permanent appointment. Even if it takes some time to get a full-time permanent manager / coach it's surely "business as usual" . He's arguably got the strongest squad in the Championship to work with.
Hopefully when an appointment is finally made then we will get the usual new manager bounce.
Of course, if Bellamy keeps winning games and the squad seem unified, then it would give Pace a decision to make.
At the moment he's acting head coach but if we don't get the right person in i meant giving him the chance than just hiring anyone and see how we go , that's if he wants it full time...

There’s no rush here as there shouldn’t be a rush:

1) serious clubs have succession plans (clear we didn’t)
2) it’s been over a month since it broke that Bayern were in for Kompany, which makes the term ‘rush’ obsolete now

The blase attitude from many to the appointment of manager with a squad approaching 50 strong is remarkable to me.

First game is in 45 days.

Having a succession plan is fine, but for clubs like us availability of preferred options and timing of transition are not fixed constants. Much easier to preach that message when you’re at the top of the food chain, and we are not. That said, even United have had to change plans and stick with ETH, and Bayern went for box number 8.

I doubt our board expected Kompany to be around for long, but you’d be mad to suggest they could anticipate Bayern would come in for him. But, and we don’t really have much clue about the internal processes going in the search for a new boss, it’s clear it’s not for want of trying. Saying “well, they should have had a succession plan in place” is just a reductive statement that makes no attempt to acknowledge all the variables affecting us.

I have no idea who we’ll end up with, I expect it to be considerably less exciting than when Kompany joined, but I’m also not so sure that’s a bad thing.

Not sure how you can possibly know who will be your next manager when you have an incumbent. The list of who is interesting and Interested changes daily. Background knowledge is one thing but really it only takes a week max to get up to that speed.

Some interesting news from the Breakfast Launch yesterday, if you believe it:

- Want to trim the squad from 40 to 25/26
- wages cut by 50% due to clauses
- many players want to stop including Esteve, Cullen, O'Shea
- manager hunt a very thorough process
- some names in media true, some false
- lots of interest and managers still contacting the club, including some in current contracts with other clubs, which hasn't gone done well with the BFC after VK scenario.
- VK was approached days before Forest game
If the penultimate quote means we are not considering players currently under contract, this whole process is a bit of a sh!t show. If we are playing it all by the book and not making enquiries about managers in jobs it’s hardly surprising that Pardew and Bruce’s names appeared and there has been no reports of any approaches to speak to managers in jobs.

Unbelievable if true that Pace can be so naive in only wanting to recruit out of work managers.

Might be wrong, but I wonder if it's more about the club wanting to go about things in a proper manner in BFC approaching the manager's club first for any managers currently under contract, rather than the manager going behind their existing club's back to apply for the job.

My point being that some people are saying give CB the job and see how it goes.
Better to keep things as they are with no permanent contract, and then let him go after 12 games or so if things aren't going well than give him a 2 / 3 year contract and then have to sack him after about a dozen games.
So just stick with where we are and don't panic, and hopefully find a better option in the next few weeks.

We have a very talented group of players for this level (with the obvious need for certain positions still, i.e. left back, centre forward). In my opinion, we need a manager who is going to give this group some structure and make them hard to beat. We also need a manager who is tactically astute and is adept at changing systems and style of play in-game.

I’m not deluded enough to think the next manager will stay forever. If they do well, Burnley is always going to be a stepping stone. But I’d like them to hang around for 3-4 years maybe.

Moyes, Corberan, OGS, Cifuentes, Carrick….even Robins. All good experience but also decent track records.

I'm pretty confident that RVN will be signing for us.
Nothing to substantiate that claim apart from applying a bit of logic on RVNs part.
If he gets us up playing good football ( he will have all the tools to do that ) then he will be in demand from every PL club and able to negotiate whatever he wants from Burnley.
He may be offered gold from Man Utd, but he's not the master of his own destiny there.

He may be offered gold from Man Utd, but he's not the master of his own destiny there.
But what if he prefers to be a coach as he has done most of his career? Then United is more appealling to him

Might be wrong, but I wonder if it's more about the club wanting to go about things in a proper manner in BFC approaching the manager's club first for any managers currently under contract, rather than the manager going behind their existing club's back to apply for the job.
I hope you are right, but Corberan has been frequently quoted as in the final shortlists and interviews but there is no news of us approaching WBA to interview him , which usually gets out.

Unfortunately it is more likely that Burnley haven’t interviewed him and Corberan is one of those names that Matt Williams says isn’t included.

Fans who are concerned about the club not having a manager, or who want the club get the best manager we can , are not " bedwetters " and I'm tired of seeing the word.
Fans who are getting outwardly twitchy - to the point of posting about it over and over and over - at us not having a manager yet are bedwetters. You can be tired of the word all you want, it does not change the fact that you're looking for instant gratification in the form of news and you're hanging on to every single rumour that comes out and commenting on it.

Bedwetters.

What preseason campaign? We dont even have a friendly announced
The first pre season that VK took we played all of our games behind closed doors didn't we?

This is the norm in other countries, I assume that the same will happen again this season and I don't have a problem with it providing that we are ready to go against Luton.

so you'd prefer they'd rush it and get the wrong guy ?
Rush it? Not quite sure I said that. I said it is quite reasonable to start a debate as to why we’re now a month since VK left and still no closer to somebody in charge, especially with the amount of work that needs doing both in terms of player movement and tactical planning.

Is that not why the club appointed Bellamy and Jackson in the interim? Its pretty obvious that there will be more outgoings than incomings this pre season, I don't see how any incoming manager is going to influence players who have been told they are leaving/being sold to stay.

It's business as usual - the first few weeks of pre season are about fitness anyway which would've been overseen by Bellamy even if VK was here.

Just listened to the 'from the beehole end' podcast and they mentioned that OGS had come for a second interview? I've not seen that mentioned anywhere but wouldn't be against it with Mike Phelan as assistant.

Me neither. Didn't do well at Cardiff at this level, but I can't remember the situation there with finances, squad quality etc.

Edit - was actually in the PL so scrap that!

From the start of the search for a new manager I’m very disappointed in the names licked with job. Not one of them would instill any confidence in me for the season ahead.
And if we end up with Bellamy that is an indication of poor quality applicants.
