I didn’t know Bromley paid circa 4million a year for the services of a manager … I would be disappointed if Southgate became manager of Burnley too just for the recordmybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 2:37 amJust wondering if the Jyllands-Posten chaps are still p!ssing themselves after getting knocked out? Remarkable that they thought they would roll Germany in my eyes.

The same reason everyone’s being talking him on here.
Looks to have something about him. But all in all Denmark didn’t win a single game at the euros.
So I guess it’s just one of those. We will have to see how he does if he comes in.

It's very concerning BFC may appoint a manager with no knowledge or experience of the demands of Championship football.
The sheer intensity of it with fixtures, travelling etc is not for the inexperienced.

Perhaps the sacral quality of the championship is overdone and if we employ a manager with a decent amount of experience managing football teams at a range of level, they’ll pick it up. Have a bit of faith in the recruitment process, they might be looking at stuff like that.

Re: Next manager
Add Kieran McKenna to the list of managers with little experience of the EFL who somehow managed to master it.
He went from coaching United’s youth teams to getting consecutive promotions in his only two full seasons to date. He’d never played senior British football either.
Enzo Maresca also didn’t fare too badly in his only season coaching in the Championship.

Re: Next manager
The argument of needing a manager with championship experience is logical, I get that. But the flip side of that is the longer you spend around someone/something the more like it you become. Therefore a manager with greater championship experience is more likely to be just that, a Championship manager.
I'd prefer us to go with someone a little different that bucks the Championship trend, a la VK.

Spoke to my Danish friends yesterday and they're pretty sure last night was his last game as Denmark manager. They don't sound too gutted if that's the case either.

Yes here to watch both england and german matches. The Bromley thing is because one is a fanatic brondby supporter apparently. They believe they were robbed and he is staying. Pep had no experience but an expensive squad.

Sean Dyche was one of our top 2 managers of all time.
Did a brilliant job while he was our manager while having financial restrictions.
We have a lot to thank him for.

Re: Next manager
Forget the hiring of a Danish coach, that was a Kompany appointment to replace Bellamy.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 11:09 pmIt will be interesting to see what, if anything, now comes of these rumours linking us with the Denmark manager.
It's so strange that nothing of much substance has emerged and it all seems quite unlikely, but two things are of interest for me. Firstly, the hiring of this Danish assistant coach, and secondly, according to Wikipedia he spent some time in the Nineties in the USA. Two things which may be purely coincidental, but you never know.

Re: Next manager
I think there's a reasonable argument that taking someone who has no previous experience of English football, let alone the Championship, would be something of a risk, and in relation to the Bielsa comparison it is reasonable to note that in his first season at Leeds they fell away badly, possibly in part because he underestimated the intensity of a 46 game campaign. I also think there's a reasonable argument that any manager coming in who is completely fresh to the Championship would benefit from an assistant who does have that experience.
In terms of the Danish manager, he is clearly well regarded as a coach and if he did get the gig he'd be a very interesting appointment. But should he be our man - particularly given his experience at Mainz, the only time he's coached at club level outside Denmark, you'd hope he'd surround himself with some counsellors who have been around the Championship before.

What do you expect him to say right after the game
‘Yes this is my last game, I am now leaving’
Standard PR answer that Burnley job or no Burnley job.
He could still leave Denmark and not be on Burnley’s list
