This is a good read and actually makes me more excited about Hjulmand as a potential option. Really like what he said about developing a vision before a playing style. What makes Burnley Burnley. It strikes me that this was lost last season under Kompany, and the style over substance that many of our players showed created a disconnect with the supporters. Hjulmand May return us to the fundamentals of hard work, grittiness and passion that Burnley fans need to see over any patterns of play, tactical set up etc.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 10:11 pmNo idea if this rumour about the Danish manager is kosher but regardless this is a deep article from him. It gives a clue what makes him tick and what may make him attractive to some owners - identity, sustainability, diversity etc.
Also drops in that lightening incident that probably made many Danish players twitchy earlier.

Re: Next manager
People were linking the hiring of Jensen with Hjulmand already being our man. But has anyone considered that with Jensen already in post before VK left he may have had some input into managerial suggestions and could have put Hjulmand‘s name forward.

I also thought that too, then Jensen could long term become head coach, wasn’t Thomas frank a coach at Brentford before becoming head coach

There may be absolutely nothing in the links with Hjulmand, but if he is appointed I don’t think it would be a pure coincidence that our head coach and assistant are both Danish.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 2:14 pmI also thought that too, then Jensen could long term become head coach, wasn’t Thomas frank a coach at Brentford before becoming head coach

Re: Next manager
I agree, just making the point that Southgate and Dyches styles seem to be similar. And to be fair, both manage to get results. So from our next manager, do we want pragmatic, dull but ultimately successful football or entertaining football that may get us relegated?

I agree, someone like Nixon covering his back saying Jensen was already coming in after saying he didn’t think there was anything to the links to start with

This odds malarkey is great fun.
It's like those "Grand National" horse racing machines you used to get in the arcades. It gives the illusion that the "leader" is constantly changing when the truth is it's pre-determined from the start.

Perhaps the bookies have changed the odds to try and lure some mug punters in to a market that very few will have an interest in?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 3:45 pmParker is obviously being backed this afternoon gone from 7/1 to 2/1 and hjulmand is drifting to almost evens from 4/7
Not obvious to me that Parker is being backed and if he has , the money will be minimal.
Poor indicator these markets, not sure if it has been mentioned before.

Re: Next manager
As is the illusion that some punters are having “big bets” when the truth is that Sky Bet and others have a £20 or £30 staking limit on these novelty markets.
Re: Next manager
Lots money going on Parker today 6/4 now with the Dane
Re: Next manager
The maximum stake with Sky Bet is £167. Small stakes move these markets anyway, hence the movement has been all over the show and best not to have taken too much notice especially in the early stages.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 4:47 pmAs is the illusion that some punters are having “big bets” when the truth is that Sky Bet and others have a £20 or £30 staking limit on these novelty markets.

So when Parker goes to same odds as hjulmand it’s just bookies and them trying to lure punters but when hjulmand went to odds on everyone said ‘there’s defo something in this’

We have discussed this loads, bookies don't set the odds to lure bets. Bookies odds are purely baseds on how much money is wagered on a manager. The more money goes on one, the lower the odds go so they don't end up paying out a fortune. It is just a mathamatical model to guarantee they win when all the bets together are taken into account.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 5:05 pmSo when Parker goes to same odds as hjulmand it’s just bookies and them trying to lure punters but when hjulmand went to odds on everyone said ‘there’s defo something in this’

Indeed, horrible take. In most ways they are polar opposites. Only similarities are reluctance to make substitutes and tendency to sit on a narrow lead.

Surely such a long drawn-out process doesn't spit out these two as our main candidates?
I would take Bellamy or Rosenior ahead of those two.
I know Parker has won the Championship but he doesn't inspire me with confidence, he doesn't come over well in TV interviews, so goodness knows how he has got so far in this marathon process.
I would prefer to leave it as is with Bellamy, Jackson and the Danish fella to work it out between themselves.
Re: Next manager
Why do people still think Bellamy is an option, beggars belief
Re: Next manager
I can’t see it being Bellamy or Parker, purely because we would’ve given them the job by now, surely?
Unless we’re revisiting the shortlist because our 1st/2nd choices etc have fallen through…

Re: Next manager
I wasn't commenting on his experience or ability for the job. I was simply answering your question on why people think he is an option. I don't know for certain but I think it's fairly obvious as per my previous post.

Re: Next manager
This maybe correct for a market on a horse race or another live event, the next Burnley manager betting is what they call a novelty market. Guaranteed win for the bookies, for example, Paddy Power’s max win on such a market is £500 per punter which is calcualted on the odds when the bet is placed. This next Burnley manager sky bet market is such a poor indicator.Steddyman wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 6:04 pmWe have discussed this loads, bookies don't set the odds to lure bets.
