Volume yes, but really?
Obafemi - Scored two in 14 on loan at Millwall
Rodriguez - 35 in a few days time and whilst still a decent sub option, unlikely to be more than that these days
Foster - Excellent up until about Christmas, absolutely terrible after that and always going to be a question mark over his reliability due to his documented mental health issues.
Amdouni - I still expect him to go, but if not, yes - he should be very good in this division. He will need to work harder though.
Koleosho - A winger, coming back from an ACL, we have no clue what goalscoring qualities he has really. He is an exciting player and you'd hope he will tear it up from that side.
Weghorst - Come on, really! He will be long gone by the season kicking off.
It really depends what system a new manager plays. I think assuming a single striker we’re fine. And as you say then whether we keep Amdouni. I’m hoping we knock the Swiss out without him featuring on Saturday and then he comes back.
It’s a make or break season for Foster, I agree. Needs an uninterrupted season and to push on now. I’m hopeful he will.
Amdouni would be very good at Championship level and a year there to recapture his confidence and form is just what he needs.
A fit JRod would still be a better than most Championship teams have.
Obafemi I watched twice play for Millwall. Didn’t score in either but looked very good in a poor team. A team that created a lot of chances & he’d do very well, I think.
I’d like to see Mellon and possibly Massara part of the mix as well. Would be great to have a home grown talent come through.
Will say though, and I’ll get some stick for this, but I’d go for Oli McBurnie on a free. I always think he’s a threat when we play them and think he scored as many as our top scorer in far less games in the premier league last year (not checked that), so would definitely be a threat in the Championship.
Will finish by saying it’s worth also assessing the competition and asking how many have striker depth as good as Foster, Amdouni, JRod, Obafemi. Favourites Leeds have Bamford, for example!
