I’d hope for that, but we’ll end up with 6 if we’re lucky.
What makes you think 6? And as you say that's only if we're lucky, you're thinking more likely 2-3?

Think I might have to tune out of Burnley news till the opening game and just see what the team is.

Trying to not be a bed wetter but I don't think things are looking great.

Yeah fair points.

Plenty of solid keeper options out there. Depending on our budget Michael Cooper from Plymouth would be a good choice, I think it would be close to £10m they want though.
We should of been in for the Rotherham keeper who joined Stoke

Absolutely. Would have been the best #2 in the league given one of Muric/Traff leaving and could have easily been number #1 if they both did!

He's a great keeper.

Having thought about it if this means we keep our best outfield players then fair enough.

But please don't sell all our best players - we will earn more with promotion.

Vaclav hladky is leaving Ipswich, would be a great option on a free even if he is 33

Shocked by that, he was a mainstay in their promotion team?

That would certainly be Step 1 of not being promoted back to the Premier League.
Completely agree with this.

I’d actually say the GK function was one of the strongest areas (bar the winger department). To decimate it, and particularly to sell fan favourite Aro Muric would quite literally be decimating our chances of promotion.

Mindless if we go down that route.

Strange that decisions like that might be made before a new manager is in post. Does he not get a say, whoever he is.
Wonder if, assuming we get the rumoured Danish manager, he might see if mr Schmeichel fancies a bow out back in England

Suppose with specific reference to Muric, that article does seem to imply that we’re honouring some sort of understanding not to stand in his way if something comes along that he wants to go for, which implies there are just such opportunities.

Not quite the same thing.

Yes, and I do understand that we don’t want to be a club that is seen to hold players back, but also feel we should be selfish with some of our key premier league standard players. We should also pay them accordingly. But to be fair to Aro, he did do his time in the Championship and was badly treated in the premier league so I could understand him wanting out.

But if Muric goes, should be clear we’re retaining Trafford. Getting rid of both, plus BPF, and building a whole new GK department would be utter madness.

I massively disagree

1. Muric - our best, would’ve likely stayed in the prem if we had played him all season
2. Trafford - best young English goalkeeper, called up to provisional Euros squad
3. BPF - international, as good as nearly every other championship keeper I’d say
4. Vigeroux - bit irrelevant but one of the best in the league below not bad for a 3rd/4th choice keeper

If we let them all go and start again, I will be amazed if we start with a group stronger than that as that because 1&2 are likely to go for £20-£30m and we won’t be spending that much on keepers I’m pretty sure.

No , fair dos ...its all about opinions. Vigoroux I cant really comment on but the other 3 have made far, far too many mistakes for my liking. We've had some real top qualty keepers at the club in recent times, but these 4 arent amongst them

If Muric goes, then I hope we keep Trafford and develop him properly. Could be a very valuable asset if he has an excellent season. An experienced number 2 like Hennessey was would be sensible IMO.

Loved Pope and Heaton - but honestly, how do you think they'd have faired given VK's kamikaze tactics?

Pope would have been a horror show. These mistakes stem from the daft tactics - it cannot be stated enough.

Yes it is, and I agree if you’re comparing to Pope & Heaton then it’s hard to argue either of their standards currently, although also difficult to compare as the expectations and exposure of keepers in Kompany’s system was much higher.

I would actually say that Muric could become better than both as a modern day keeper if he cut out his errors which I’m absolutely convinced he will.

The jury for me is out on Trafford but I’d think he would also at least reach their levels if well coached. The reason I’m not sure he’d exceed them as I think he’d need to get better with his distribution but has plenty of time to do so.

If both go I think we’ll struggle to start next season with a better GK set up than we ended this one.

Admittedly a lot of ifs here but, if we were to lose Muric & Trafford then this wouldn’t be a bad shout.

He is too good a keeper to be a second choice but I can’t see any premier league team coming in for him as a first choice

£35m I last read, but they have lost arguably their best player. A massive loss for them. I can't see Gnonto wanting to stay there either.

Let’s hope many good things come from this:

1. Pace sees what Championship clubs can sell their top young talents for and doesn’t sell them cheaply.

2. Leeds move for Roberts and were able to secure a decent fee given they have £35m burning a hole in their pocket.

3. Leeds overall are significantly weakened.

He’s 26 in October and looks to have been at Malmo for a year. Strange if true.

He would have been part of the chapecoense set up when the plane crash happened.

Looks a very good passer - some great long balls in there - neat in the build up and some decent crosses. Also quite quick. Not much to go off defensively.

Tbf his account reminds me a lot of that Brad jones journo account from a few years ago that was just a Burnley fan acting as a journo on twitter

Chap on Twitter linking us with Malmo's Brazilian Left Back Gabriel Busanello
I mentioned this morning that we’d lined up a left back deal. Wasn’t given a name but was told he was Brazilian so could be this guy.

All keepers being sold.
Charlie gone. Esteve not coming.
New man at right back. Hole at left. Centre backs? Anything could happen.

Midfield likely to suffer too.

Yanks raking it in and new man gets what's left?
