I was a massive Ward fan but when it was time, Charlie was a really good replacement.

Nah. Stephen Ward was key to our very best PL seasons from a left back perspective. Taylor was an adequate replacement, but never offered what Ward did.

Decent enough servant tho, so good luck to him.

An excellent servant who does not owe us anything. Along with JBG is another v experienced head leaving the squad. Obviously we don’t see the full story but always felt he was a bit hard done to by VK. Good luck to him if he’s got a PL contract.

I'll echo what others generally are saying. Always gave 100%, was a good defender and team man and appeared to have a good character. I hope he gets a run with Saints, he certainly wont let them down.

Saints have friendly at Eastleigh on the 19th, might go and suss that out.

Same. Thought Ward was fantastic for us but Taylor has done well for us too. Has had to wait for chances sometimes and stood in centrally but got on with it.

Ward is in my all time top three left backs I’ve seen at Burnley in over sixty years

He was absolutely tremendous for us - from the moment he came in at left back, shifting Mee into LCB right until he had that bad injury (I think in 2018 or so).

Loved Ward and Taylor did a very good job when he finally replaced him.

Jay Rod (summer 2019) and then Brownhill (Jan 2020) and Roberts (summer 2021). They are the only three left who were here before Kompany.

Always sad when a popular Claret leaves the club. It was probably the right time for him after 7 seasons at Burnley. Let’s hope we can sign a decent replacement for what has been a somewhat problematic position in the last year.

Always thought he was too good for us but it was his forward play that stopped him moving up. Bailed us out many a time with incredible last ditch blocks and tackles. Like that man before him; a proper full back.

Wouldn't let the current England team down if he was playing for them.

I liked him defensively but thought he was pretty poor offensively.

It was Chelsea but it was the second half performance that stood out by which time Taylor & Brownhill came on with Jay Rod & JBG coming on in the second half.

But that was the game when we started with eleven Kompany signings and not one single player who qualified to play for England.

Gutted to see Taylor leave thought we could have had another year out of him at championship level but can't blame him for getting a better contract/opportunity elsewhere.
He wasn't the most complete player but similar to Barnes and Cork etc I'll always be gutted when a player leaves that always gave everything on the pitch no matter how good or bad they was playing.

The one thing these players with 'potential' we now sign severely lack his heart and passion.
