Celtic want £30m for O’Reilly and some think O’Shea is only worth £15m.
Celtic can’t have it both ways!
O’Shea has played at a higher level than O’Reilly.

This is it. I know it’s easy to over value players but when you look at what others want for theirs we also need to expect big money for ours.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:26 pmCeltic want £30m for O’Reilly and some think O’Shea is only worth £15m.

Matt williams said the new LB would need to be approved by the new HC. So that is a sign we have got one.

Pires played a lot of minutes in La Liga last season.
By all accounts he is fast and a decent crosser, so in those two attributes is an upgrade on Charlie. In other aspects we will have to wait and see.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Just watched a few videos on the left back and I have to say he looks very good. Obviously it's difficult to tell but looks to carry the ball well and puts good crosses in. We will have to wait and see how he is defensively but he looks tall for a full back which will help add some height.
Disappointed to lose Taylor who is also a good player in the right system but I think we could have got a gem here.

Spoke to a Cadiz fan briefly on X (as you do) and he rated him for them and commented on his good attitude too. This is despite them being relegated. Said he likes getting up and down the wing a lot and crosses with good technique.boyyanno wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 9:01 pmJust watched a few videos on the left back and I have to say he looks very good. Are we allowed to express concerns over these attitude issues and the club's long history of hard-working togetherness being steadily dismantled the last few years, or will we be called bedwetters?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:52 pm"On 31 May 2022, after establishing himself as a starter, Lucas Pires renewed his contract until May 2026.On 27 June 2023, he was fined 50% of his wages and separated from the first team squad due to disciplinary reasons, being also transfer-listed by the club"

I'll give him a chance, before anyone asks, but we've had a number of signings the last couple years who've either had attitude issues or haven't shown the best attitude on the pitch for Burnley. Assignon was embarrassing. And we don't (currently) have a Dyche in post who did alright with sorting the few problem characters that came in.

South American playing in Spain - I would imagine hard as nails but struggles to stay on his feet like every South American who plays in Spain. You don't play a season in La Liga if you are crap, it's a top league.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 10:26 pmAre we allowed to express concerns over these attitude issues and the club's long history of hard-working togetherness being steadily dismantled the last few years, or will we be called bedwetters?

Oh on talent levels he sounds exciting, I'm not disputing that at all. Just the attitude thing made me hesitant. Great individuals don't always make a great team and all that.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 10:38 pmSouth American playing in Spain - I would imagine hard as nails but struggles to stay on his feet like every South American who plays in Spain. Can he take a throw in?
He looks fast and it seems like he can put a decent ball into the box. Hopefully he can adapt to the Championship. He looks like a decent signing for the money.

May be our tactical development is going even further then before and we are dispensing with goalkeepers altogether to employ an outfield player to act as goalkeeper when required. The old 'Rush' goalie of the past!LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:13 pmI’ve been told to expect an entirely new goalkeeping department for this season with all 4 recognised senior keepers set to leave.

As I said yesterday, I understand that being a 2nd/3rd choice in the Championship (on 50% of the wages) might not be as attractive as playing on likely similar wages, but he looks a decent enough keeper as back up to me. We’re likely going to have to pay to replace him so we shouldn’t be giving him away. We need to get a fee that equals what it’ll cost to replace him. Or he stays.

Having two Brazilian fullbacks on either side of the pitch is something that I never thought I'd see at Burnley.

Yeah as NC says above, we need to be getting a fee really. The Orient fan is buzzing about possibly getting him back, I think he said he was their player of the season for 3 years on the spin before joining us.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:27 amThat would probably be a good move.
