Yep, good keeper from what I’ve seen so not one we should take losing lightly when we have to replace them, in my view.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 1:15 pmYeah as NC says above, we need to be getting a fee really. Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Are there any players Parker has previously worked with that he might try to bring in to us? A couple I could suggest from his squads:
Fulham 19/20:
Tom Cairney - 33 now, but we do need a bit of experience? Used as a sub as much as anything else these days.
Harrison Reed - Still plays pretty regularly for Fulham (then again, so did Cairney last season) so possibly unlikely but always a player I have liked. Perhaps too similar to Cullen.
Bobby Decordova-Reid - 31, always seems to do a solid job for them. In and out of the side and often a sub.
Bournemouth 21/22:
David Brooks - Seems to have struggled to get into the thinking consistently at Bournemouth since he brilliantly beat cancer. Had a loan spell at Saints last season. Assuming Odobert goes, we possibly have a gap for a right winger.
Kieffer Moore - Parker signed him for Bournemouth and whilst he's never quite proven himself to be a Premier League player, he's done consistently well in this league for the last 5 years or so. Had a great loan at Ipswich last season and I'd argue we could do with a player like him.
Club Brugge 22/23:
Andreas Skov Olsen - Possibly utterly unrealistic, no idea really. Was linked with us under Kompany last summer and seems to have a moved on even more last season.

Don’t think O’Rauke is as bad as people say. Feel we’re as fully stocked at CH as we can be. Could only see this if one of O’Shea or Beyer were going (I expect McNally & Delroix to go) or injuries are worse than known. Nothing on Ekdal, AAD or Beyer’s situations.

Burnley are interested in Independiente and Panama centre-back Edgardo Farina, although face competition from Watford and Cardiff.

It doesn't take much to be better than Kieffer Moore - even Obafemi would be just as good
If we are looking to get promotion next season McBurnie is not the answer either

44 goals & 8 assists in 125 games. Not spectacular but not bad.
Worth mentioning that Sheffield United paid £20m for him 5 years ago and he’s now at his peak at 28 (thought he was 27 actually), so not unreasonable to expect his numbers to improve over the next two years.
And also, one of the few plusses I could find on Parker’s appointment was how he turned Solanke in to a 15 goal a season striker to 29. Could he repeat the trick?
I’d sort of prefer him to do that with Foster but do think we need a big, powerful striker to rough up defences as well.

I’m assuming we’re skint or at least would prefer to keep hold of our players before we shell out on others. For that reason I think O’Hare and McBurnie would be decent additions and Englishmen to replace our dwindling English contingent.

I'm not sure it's just age that improves players, for a Centre forward to get better numbers, I think the gameplan would have to be centred around him.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 6:02 pm44 goals & 8 assists in 125 games. Not spectacular but not bad.

Vinny never seemed to want to get the best out of a Centre forward. Preferring widemen to cut inside and shoot rather than lay it on a plate for the CF.
Sheff Utd seemed to get the ball up to their CF early at every opportunity.

Where did he score 45 goals in 125 games - according to wiki he scored 26 ? (and that was over the 5 years)NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 6:02 pm44 goals & 8 assists in 125 games. Not spectacular but not bad.

As for Sheff Utd paying £20m for him, he would be worth far less than that now (despite being at his peak) and yes I know he is currently a free agent
And didn't they pay more than that for Brewster ie they have a record of poor buys at striker
Not having a personal go but he will offer very little to what we currently have
The next striker signing has to be someone who we think would develop up to Premier League standard - Moore and McBurnie do not fit that criteria as their records clearly show

McBurnie’s personal record outside the game is nothing to be proud of similar to his disciplinary record on the pitch keep well away.

I assume some at Swansea before he moved to Sheffield United. Those stats were from transfermarkt.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 7:21 pmWhere did he score 45 goals in 125 games - according to wiki he scored 26 ? (and that was over the 5 years)

In my view he is premier league quality as 9 G/A in 21 in a ****e side like Sheffield United is a very credible return and I think he’d get better at his peak/in a better side. That’s exactly why I think we should sign him because he is a striker who I think is premier league striker. I agree that’s what we need our signings to be this summer - capable of playing at that level else we’re buying to replace again if we go up. I think he’d get very good numbers for us next year too though.
I also think he does offer something we don’t have. He’s a ****house to start off with, he roughs people up, and is an Ariel threat we don’t have or won’t when Jay retires at least.
I think if you look at our signings last time we were in the championship they were all in the £2-3m range. I’m not sure who we’re signing in that bracket that’s going to be more premier league standard than McBurnie tbh.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
That is unrealistic, he wouldn't move to the Championship.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 2:49 pmAre there any players Parker has previously worked with that he might try to bring in to us? A couple I could suggest from his squads:

That's before we consider that Parker fell out with the players at Club Brugge and is a something of a laughing stock in Belgium, so it's probably a market we're less likely to dip into.
Parker also told the Bournemouth players they weren't good enough in the press right before getting sacked, so players from his team there are probably also not likely.

When I read this it’s really hard to believe Pace has chosen him to manage a team with many Belgian players and anyone who would say that to the press.Mattster wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:43 amThat is unrealistic, he wouldn't move to the Championship.

Although Kompany did once say “I just want players who can play at this level” last season when discussing January transfers, which I think came out worse than it was intended but wasn’t a good message for the existing players either.

Just listened to the interview after the Liverpool game and to be fair, he was more bemoaning the lack of backing from the board in respect of being afforded the opportunity to bring in quality players with some degree of Premier league experience, instead having to rely on just 3 free transfer signings. He sympathised with his players and didn't dig them out at all, merely stating that the opposition were above the levels they had been used to.Mattster wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:43 amThat is unrealistic, he wouldn't move to the Championship.

Wtf is that all about? Sounds like summat Garth crooks and Gareth Southgate use to measure success…. While the rest of us look at goals per game.
Utter gobbledegook.
