Las Vegas
British Pub in Las Vegas is closing after 30 years.
It’s a pub I always visited when in Vegas.
Sad to see it go

Re: Las Vegas
I've been to Vegas twice and don't recall seeing it.
Was it on the strip or more hidden away somewhere?

Re: Las Vegas
I went to a British pub when we went. My mate had been there when Hatton was fighting and he said it was rammers.
So we went and it was quiet. The barmen wanted a dollar tip just for pouring a pint.
Not reight British in my eyes.

Re: Las Vegas
I used to go to Vegas late August every year for a company meeting. Seen a few Burnley games in the Crown and Anchor . Last time (a few years ago) they couldn’t get the coverage from whatever sports packages they had. I ended up watching a stream of the first half then heading back to the hotel so I could get breakfast and use decent Wifi. Never bothered going back. It was a trek down Tropicana (10 mins in a cab) from The Strip but was the guaranteed place to watch the Premier League once upon a time. It did seem to get dirtier and smelling more of stale fat fryer each year.

Re: Las Vegas
it's in the wrong place and on the couple of visits I made I wasn't impressed tbh. It's at least 4 years since my last visit.....fidelcastro wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 4:16 pmI've been to Vegas twice and don't recall seeing it.

Re: Las Vegas
Considered watching the England game there last week but it's a trek from Planet Hollywood. I sat in Taco bell's outside area drinking pints at 9am instead
When i Googled the Crown and Anchor it said it was open 24hr, was that right?!?

Went about 20 years ago at some unearthy hour ( straight from golden nugget casino) with some utd friends. Enjoyed the game when spurs went 3 nil up , but they had the last laugh. Pub was OK , had a decent bacon butty with a miller's light .

Re: Las Vegas
Each to his own I suppose, but the last place I'd visit abroad is an "English" or "Irish" pub. Don't get me started on a "Full English" or a "Sunday Lunch".

Only British pub I remember seeing was in New York New York… but that was in the late nineties so I’m not even sure if the Casino is still there!

Re: Las Vegas
Not many places to watch the “EPL” in the USA 10 years ago apart from pubs geared up to the European audience. In Vegas the 1230 game is on at 0430 in morning. Not much choice apart from “Irish” and “English” bars showingbthe football. Vegas is only a 24 hour city if you’re gambling.

I was in NYNY 2 years ago and have a crazy low cost overnighter in December booked. There’s an Irish Pub, The Nine Fine Irishman that has Guinness better than most pubs in England.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 3:50 pmOnly British pub I remember seeing was in New York New York… but that was in the late nineties so I’m not even sure if the Casino is still there!

Just 48.8C/120F here in Vegas today, apparently highest on record by 3 degrees.

Re: Las Vegas
You can have the Wynn regular buffet with drinks for the same price. I'd recommend that over most places anywhere for value for money.

I was working in Mannheim when one of our team had to go home for a family issue. The company I was working for sent out a new bod, and one the first thing he said was - are there any British themed pubs that sell Carling

Re: Las Vegas
I was actually in an apartment next door at the Marriot Grand Chateau Commy. Although I spoke to a couple from around here who stayed in Planet Hollywood at the same time who said it fine, nice free standing bath in the room. Location wise it is in very good spot on the strip, Blondies in the Miracle Mile underneath was good for a reasonable breakfast.
Been to the US twice in the last few months and found Vegas very expensive.

Re: Las Vegas
Prices here have gone crazy in the last 3 years. Don’t believe the government inflation figures They are way off the truth.
