The club just said he was leaving at the end of his contract but I was told that he’s triggered an extension.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 5:22 pmI can't remember from the time, did he turm down another contract or was he not offered one?

Re: ARTICLE: Welcome back JBG
At the level we are at he still has a lot to offer, even if that isn't for 46 games. No brainer for me.
Re: ARTICLE: Welcome back JBG
How’s that work then? He says he’s leaving and does so, I would have thought at that point the contract is terminated. I’m delighted of course as I never wanted him to leave.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 5:47 pmThe club just said he was leaving at the end of his contract but I was told that he’s triggered an extension.

Re: ARTICLE: Welcome back JBG
His contract ended last Sunday although we’d have still had to pay him until the end of July. He will now have signed a new contract.

I don’t think I can recall a signing that has been met with such a positive response

So he had declined the opportunity to trigger it at the time?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 5:47 pmThe club just said he was leaving at the end of his contract but I was told that he’s triggered an extension.

it's completely lifted the mood, I would imagine even JBG will be touched by the response from the fans towards him returning.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 5:59 pmI don’t think I can recall a signing that has been met with such a positive response

Happy days

Re: ARTICLE: Welcome back JBG
Fantastic news. He would definitely be more suited to a 4231 where can play in any of the 3 advanced positions.
Great character to have around aswell.

Hasn’t it? I was really pleased when I found out but wasn’t too sure the news would be quite this positive.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 6:02 pmit's completely lifted the mood, I would imagine even JBG will be touched by the response from the fans towards him returning.

Good question! I assume his contracted ended 30 June. Today 6 July. I would hope he insisted on continuity. Longest serving player.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 3:48 pmThe thing is, does he count as a Summer Signing on your thread, Tony?
Really pleased to have him back.

That's what we need. Experienced, talented players who love the club. Well done Alan Pace for bringing him home.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 3:09 pmsecond first interview

Re: ARTICLE: Welcome back JBG
Let’s hope that Parker sees him as a regular, I wonder if he (Parker) was involved in this or was it all decided by Pace.

Excellent news. Someone that knows what that 4th game means for a start. We need as much experience around those young lads as possible this season.

We announced that he was leaving before the final game. In his interview yesterday, when asked what had changed, he said: "Obviously circumstances have changed."

"Yes, I’m back and I’m extremely happy. This club means so much to me. Leaving the club in the situation it was, getting relegated, was difficult. I didn’t want to leave. "
He said he didn't want to leave. We can get involved in all sorts of conjecture about VK and JBG's departure but that's irrelevant now.
JBG's back and the signing must have been agreed by SP.
