Reading this thread omg..some of the comments,Switzerland a poor side..England are woeful ,we’ve been lucky again loads of others.blah blah blah.. you’re all my fellow clarets but some of you are just pathetic. It was a hard fought, even game and for once our penalties were brilliant and we won through and are in the semis. Why do you bother watching hey…

I'm not a Southgate fan but they limited a really excellent Swiss team to next to nothing, a much better performance.Cornwallclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:11 pmReading this thread omg..some of the comments,Switzerland a poor side..England are woeful ,we’ve been lucky again loads of others.blah blah blah.. you’re all my fellow clarets but some of you are just pathetic. Re: Euro 2024
When I see England have a corner and the ball ends up back at Pickford without it going forward I know its never going to be the time to praise Southgate. He's destroyed any attacking intention for the safety of not taking risks. It's totally alien.
Saka has escaped the imprisonment tonight and Palmer looks like he's going to defy the jailer if given half a chance.
For those seeking comfort in Switzerland being a top ranking team , you must think Italy are one of the best which they are nowhere near

Pickford’s water bottle notes:
Amdouni - HOLD, Dive Left, Go Low.
Good job he didn’t bother reading it with the hold bit
The City guy it did indeed say Dive Left, which is what he did.

Re: Euro 2024
I'd rather play the Dutch the Turkish players are a bit tasty but the main reason I'd rather play the Dutch is the brain dead Turkish crowd boo and whistle whenever Turkey don't have the ball and there are 15 million Turks in Germany, anyway Nederlands just equalised.
Re: Euro 2024
You know Wout will come on and bundle in a scruffy winner against us.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:23 pmI'd much rather us play the Dutch in the semi final than the Turks, another good side

Re: Euro 2024
I think we got into good areas but the pull backs and crosses weren't great, I don't think the Swiss did too much tbh. Very tight game overall
Re: Euro 2024
2 - 1 Dutch lads I like it

If there’s one thing that highlights how out of touch the old men of uptheclarets are, it’s when they say Weghorst isn’t good enough for Burnley.

I don't know who said he isn't good enough, he's more than good enough, I think contract finances might be the defining factor.

Re: Euro 2024
Your penultimate sentence is spot on. I am sorry, but our approach to football is really poor. We made no attempt to win that game, again. The fact that an unfit Kane was allowed to stay on the pitch until there was no choice was ridiculous.Cornwallclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:11 pmReading this thread omg..some of the comments,Switzerland a poor side..England are woeful ,we’ve been lucky again loads of others.blah blah blah.. you’re all my fellow clarets but some of you are just pathetic. Re: Euro 2024
Good player in the right system, 20 goals in the championship guaranteed but in the premier league he's a waste of spacePremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 10:20 pm
No I agree and we should get shot as soon as we can for that reason, but laughable how some of our fanbase can’t see what he brings.
Re: Euro 2024
Southgate really does know how to complicate the simplest things tooCoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 6:07 pmAgreed again Bumba.
I have no idea wtf a lot of 'pundits' and managers these days think they're doing. It really is a simple game that's needlessly overcomplicated at times.

Re: Euro 2024
While the Swiss are certainly no mugs , I thought we outplayed them for large parts of the game without ever actually looking like scoring . Though a bit of high class is what wins in tournaments, and we produced it again, IMO we’ve been lacking that “ bit of magic “ for yrs. We looked a bit more confident and having Saka flying and Bellingham like a force of nature , I’d be more than happy to win this ugly .

Re: Euro 2024
southgate has a great record, tough job with the media vermin and especially the rancid **** that inhabit the punditry stations.
most successful english manager ever, including ramsey.
About time he was cut some slack. great win earlier, and he just continues doing what he was employed to do without moaning.
also, phenomenal for saka to step up again, regardless of his wages, he endured ridiculous flak for the previous tournament. credit all round.

Re: Euro 2024
We went from 2/10 to 4/10. Woopy Doo
With the quality we have available, we massively under achieved, yet again. No ones knocking the players, apart from Kane, but Southgate couldn't organise a **** up in a brewery.
5 games now. How many shots on target. An xg factor of less than 1. It's pathetic
