My mate now lives in the house on Scott Park Road where Bob Lord lived. He once found what he thought was a tramp in his front garden (my mate not Bob Lord). Turned out to be Ian McKellen looking for the house he was born in :D
They put a plaque on the house where Ian McKellen was born but he said they’d put it on the wrong house.

That's what he told Mick. Don't know if he let him pass but they had a pleasant chat and went on his way!

That doesn't surprise me: I lived for a while very close to the pub he owns - or at least owned, I don't know if he still does - in Limehouse; IM was often in there himself and tended to be somewhat... casual in his attire.

This is 2 Westwood Road, Ightenhill ... the present owners bought it in Summer 2017, when it needed fully updating, and they've done a great job. It's a lovely house in a nice area, but not quite top-tier footballer level. If you transported yourself back to the house in 1970, you'd find a Mk2 Lotus Cortina parked outside, and get a friendly wave from the owner, a certain Ralph Coates !

I was brought up on Celia Street, very close to the Turf. Several years before my mum and dad moved in it was the first Burnley home for George Halley and his family when Burnley signed him. They rented the front room.

When I found out I told my mum to get a plaque on the wall outside, something she immediately dismissed.

If you look at the front cover of the programme for the Fulham League Cup game in 2008, the one house with a light on is the very room rented by Halley and his family.

Not so sure about Jimmy Adamson living on Deerpark Road, round the corner from me, but he definitely lived on Brunshaw Road, again round the corner from me. Talking of Brunshaw Road, both Les Samuels and Les Shannon lived on there, Pike Hill area

I did hear, although nothing to substantiate it, that a lot of the players who have come in during the last two years are renting apartments in Manchester that are owned by a former Premier League winner.
Also heard this. A certain ex manager was profiting in all kinds of way signing all these young European kids

Jimmy Adamson lived at 59 Deer Park Road during his playing days. I lived nearby and was a similar age to his daughter Julie. Yes he also lived on the rhs going up Brunshaw Rd just before you get to Springwood Rd in later life.

That was the game. I was stunned when I saw the pic on the front cover that night but it was a few years after my mum had passed away so not her house when the pic was taken.

And as you turned off Brunshaw Road onto Springwood Road to get to Deer Park, Adam Blacklaw lived in the corner house.

This thread sums up the changes in the footballing community, in past years they were part of the local scene and this must have helped build a connection to the fans. Nowadays they are just a bunch of multi-millionaire mercenaries hiding themselves away in posh suburbs or city centres and just venturing out to the exclusive nightclubs.

TBF theyre massively under the spotlight now, folk desperately waiting to catch them doing something they can film on their phone and post online, I don't blame players for hiding themselves away from the clubs fans.

Although I agree with your point.

Bill O’Neil lived in my previous dwelling on Ladbrooke Grove in Burnley. According to an old neighbour at the time rumour has it that Bill and Jimmy McIIroy built the brick garage next to the property when Jimmy joined Burnley in 1950.

That's fair. When we signed Tom Heaton he moved into a house locally but eventually moved because he was being pestered. Nothing serious but enough for him to want to move.

You are right about building a connection with fans. That's how I knew, and still know, well so many of the players from the promotion team in 1973. They all lived locally and they used to be around town on a Saturday and Sunday evening, in the Cats (or maybe it was called the Locarno then). So you got to know them. Not only that, many of them still live locally so you will often see the likes of Waldron, Thomson, Casper, Fletcher around the place.

Thinking back, when we won the league, Trevor Meredith lived on Moorland Road, Jimmy Mac on Rossendale Avenue, Jimmy Robson on Scott Park Road and Bobby Seith on Thursby Road. Champions of England and living amongst us.

I think it’s more that they just want to live in nicer accommodation/areas with more things going on that they enjoy doing.

If Burnley had nice big glass skyscrapers to live in and a thriving entertainment a scene - shopping, bars, restaurants, theatres, music venues, etc - I’m sure more would live here.

Thats why Massengo stands out to fans and they’re willing him to be a success.

Leighton James lived in Captain's Cottage, the white building opposite the George IV pub on Padiham Road. Later he lived in a terraced house on Kime Street. Winston White lived on Oak Street where the only 'furniture' he had in the living room was a large tv. I think he later became a chef at the now demolished Manor Barn pub.

Aidy Randall reportedly missed the coach to away games more than once. He should have moved closer to the Turf, he lived on Lyndhurst Road.

I remember having a few kick abouts with Tony Arins when I was about 8 years old (1979 ish). He used to lodge at one of my dad's friends and his wife's house on (I think if my memory serves me right) Westbourne Avenue South.

I was also there one evening (would think it may have been a Sunday maybe?) when Tony Arins was there with his then girlfriend along with Marshall Burke and his then girlfriend, ready to go out for the evening as they were all dressed up.

My dad told me at the time who they were, has I didn't really have a clue back then.

A little more recently in the early 1990's, Steve Davis ( mk2 ) and Mark Yates both lived on Grassington Drive, towards Harle Syke, whilst Ian Measham lived on Wellfield Drive, opposite St Mary Magdalene's Primary School ...

Jimmy Mac and later Alex Elder lodged on Stoney Street, next door to my uncle. Harry Thomson lodged with another uncle on Moorland Road, and then when aunt and uncle moved to Tadema Grove they had Mick Doc and Alan West. Derek Scott lives over the fence from me in Worsthorne, with Flynny not that far away round the corner. Oh, and Dave Miller is on Lindsay Park

Not Burnley but when I was at Wigan in about 2003 John Filan (ex barsteward keeper) used to pick me up on the bypass for training as he was coming from Barley. Croft Barn in whitehaugh village I later found out as my post round is there and he sometimes still gets mail for his old address 😂

Some stunning properties around there with more being built too. You’d think more Burnley players would reside in the ribble valley

Burnley until 19, Wigan for a season after, Colne, Nelson, Chorley , Padiham, barnoldswick town. Think I stopped playing at 27 when I fancied watching us in the prem under Coyle as thought it was a one season wonder and we’d never be back 🤣

I thought the plaque was in Jimmy Robson’s house? Maybe wrong .
Jimmy Robbo lived on Scott Park Road too for sure. I'll go and have a nosy looking for the plaque when I next go past.

Lafferty and McCann used to live in a house off coal clough lane, before they broke into the first team.
