Have the rules changed? I thought it was down to who touched the ball last?

Wasn't going wide, it was on target into the bottom corner, the deflection took it upwards

Surely Spain had another option at full back to go up against Mbappe? You'd never find Southgate short of a right back in a major tournament :D

The rules are if the shots on target it’s given to the forward.

That's how to make substitutions . If it's not working , 3 changes in the 60th minute .

Spain look great. They have a habit of dropping the tempo in the second half when ahead though - not sure if it’s by design or not. They’ve been the best side of the tournament and deserve to make the final. I think it will make for a better game too, regardless of the opposition.

I think it's exactly that - in game management.

Big weakness in the full back areas.

Not that I’d expect us to exploit them.

Really?

I thought Cucurella was excellent tonight - and he has been all tournament.

Fatigued down the right as the match went on, but that's expected playing against Mbappé & Theo Hernandez!

Spain by far the best team at the tournament so far but I’d rather play them than France (if we get through). Deschamps would do a number on us and grind us down while at least Spain will look to play on the front foot.

I really enjoyed this game - two talented teams with a plan.

France played better then I've seen them in this tournament - they seem to benefit from Rabiot replaced Griezmann, for the first half anyway. They also had two really good chances in the second half which they failed to take - for the first I think the ball bobbled but the second from Mbappe was poor. And the French goalkeeper Maignan - how good is he. He so nearly got to Yamal's goal and the second half tackle he did, then controlled and delivered an excellent pass to his winger.

Spain of course were better, easily the best team in the tournament and it's difficult to see England or The Netherlands doing anything against them. I think Laporte is a bit of a liability at this very top level. Of course they feel the need to bring all the dark arts into the game led by their captain Morata. RESPECT - ha!

I fear that you're right, though should we make the final - as I expect - I'm sure the baying mob will deem it to be entirely the fault of Gareth Southgate if we fail to beat them.

Reading on here if we do reach the final, half the posters will be posting like they want England to lose. I can't quite understand it. If we do win tonight then we can beat any team over one game.

If we do lose tonight, or even in the Final, the worst part will be all the ones who hate Southgate (for whatever reason) jumping straight in with their smug little posts.
They will still be there even if we win the thing though.
Sod em all: Come on England!!!!!!!!!!!!

The criticism during this tournament has always been with playing the better international teams in mind. The draw has greatly help us reach the semi finals.
I don’t think the Netherlands are one of the top teams but probably the best we’ve played so far.
The most positive I can be is to say that so far in this tournament we don’t know how to lose.

The Netherlands were priced up at 16/1 joint 6th favourites at the start of the Euros and are the shortest priced team that England have faced thus far. Contrast that to Spain who have played and beaten both the 2nd and 3rd favourites in Germany and France.
England were 3/1 favourites at the start of the tournament and there should be no excuses if we fail to reach the Final as a minimum objective.

Without looking it up. Which massive teams did Spain play on there way to the final in 2008? Which teams did they batter?!?

Exactly, nobody remembers. They were shite all the way through and that was the foundations for the World Cup, then retaining the Euros.

Knock out football isn’t about performances. It’s doing enough.

But like I said, nobody remembers the performances because of what followed in 2010 and 2012.

Bit of a silly argument bringing in bookies odds. There’s a reason we’re always underpriced and thats because every man and his dog bets on England. I remember someone on here said they were in Spain, and England were 12/1!

Well he's nailed his colour's to the mask with that line up. Let's hope Saka does it again, because it's very unlikely to happen from the other side or should I say Cul-de-Sac.
