We’ve moved on considerably since that batch of Kompany signings pre Championship - though I still see more to come from Zaroury and Obafemi. Benson is a funny one. He will do a job in the Champ no doubt, but he doesn’t have the attributes for the Prem - which is our long term aim.

Tresor - who knows… would love to see what he’s about but doubt it will happen.

He never started a Championship game two years ago - occasional Cup games only

Loaned out to Millwall last season and did very little despite being tipped on here to scare the Premier League with his pace

Obafemi - Not had a run of games, not been fit, good goal scoring season(s) with Swansea, power, pace, technique, still young. Agree we haven’t seen much yet but I think the raw materials are there…

The rest we either always knew they were leaving or we didn't want them.

Exactly my point earlier in the thread.

'Fire sale' and squad overhaul have two completely different meanings.

Fire sale suggests we at the point of administration/liquidation and will accept literally any offer for players to keep ourselves solvent.

We are in fact accepting offers (we deem suitable) for players who want to leave, we want to leave and those who are available if a big offer arrives.

When we were last relegated there were players who left for free as well as others (Collins, Cornet and McNeil) who definitely fitted scenario three.


We have an excellent squad and Parker will want to put his own stamp on it, he may not have total control over incomings but I'm sure he has his eye on two or three positions. Positions we probably need funds to strengthen from sales.

Let's judge in September once the dust settles.

Imagine how upset you would've been if we'd kept all of those players. You would've beat the club to a pulp for offering contracts to nearly all of them that weren't sold for good money

The stats I've seen show him playing as centre forward in the vast majority of games.

If that's all the sales we do then that's 50 mill as a minimum coming in. I'd expect Berge to go as well so make that 70 mill.

He certainly isn’t 5’9” unless every player he plays with and against are very small.

Yes most clips I have seen of him have been of the left wing but that might be because he has his best returns there

Makes me laugh when players fail in the Premier league then think they are too good for the championship.
However I'm not sure that this will necessarily be the case with these players.
Odobert is young and came fro a relegated French team. He might be willing to give us a season to see if we can get promoted. He looks happy and there isn't rumours of him wanting away.
Berge has already played in the championship and never threw his toys out of the pram when Liverpool bid for him and it was rejected.
Trafford has only ever played at league 1 level and loved his time at Bolton.
Amdouni might be the exception.

Well he’s been played as a CF 3 times as much, so I assume that’s where his previous manager viewed his best position and/or where he prefers to play.

Not necessarily, out of 34 African Cup of Nations, Benin have only qualified 4 times the last being in 2019. Of the 4 times they qualified they have only progressed from the Group Stage once, again in 2019 when they got to the Quarter FInals.
