Re: Spain v England
Should’ve been at least another 2 minutes with the “injuries” to Spanish players during injury time. That said would’ve made no difference.
Congratulations to Spain, deserved winners

Still excited to see us going forwards without Kane and presumably a new manager.

Absymal for the vast majority of the tournament apart from a few good moments. Team selections and tactics have been shocking throughout and only got to the final due to a favourable draw.
Southgate needs to go.

Get Safegate gone. Imagine getting an equaliser then going on the back foot. What a tit

Well deserved winners beating Croatia, Germany, France and pre tournament favourites England en route to lifting the trophy.
What a substitution by the Spanish coach taking off Morata who would struggle to finish his dinner.

Re: Spain v England
Rare to say, after 40 years of disaster after being the better side, we were 2nd best and deserved to lose. Palmer’s moment notwithstanding.
Spain better coached, more attacking, we were timid, scared, defensive. Old school football. We had to go out.
So too, does the manager. Not terrible. But by no means great. Time for a braver manager better suited to these players.

Re: Spain v England
finishing runners up to the best side, there's some huge overreactions on here. These will probably win the next World Cup as well.
I don't think this side of ours is as good as the English media would have you believe, some very good players but most of them never really showed their real ability

Re: Spain v England
Southgate sh1t the bed once again.
Sorry but it's a reoccurring theme, Kane should not have been anywhere near the pitch and all the issues with the setup came to light as soon as they played a decent team - just like anyone that knew anything about football knew they would.
Time to go Gareth, thanks for the memories but ultimately not good enough.

Good goal by Palmer. Pickford made some decent stops.
Spain scored good goals.
Harry Kane....never won anything.
The fairy Godmother gave him goals galore - he has been a fine striker - but in exchange for not winning anything.

Re: Spain v England
I know Simon Jordan is a controversial pundit, but he said it last time we lost in the finals, Southgate does not have a winning gene in him. In retrospect Kane should not have started and Palmer should have come on earlier. Easy to say in hindsight but Kane has been poor in every game, and every top manager would have not started him

It has been obvious from the start of this tournament that Kane is past it at this level but he has started every game
He should never wear that shirt again
Great striker for us but needs to step down
Been picked for too long IMO
Well done Spain you deserved it

Kyle Walker at fault for both goals drifted off Williams then off his man for cross
Re: Spain v England
England have the best selection of players in the world. The spainish squad is miles weaker than englands.
The difference is Spain are a team that have a plan
England have been managed by a fool.
Don’t give me this “oh look we have got to the final” look at the easy draws Southgate has had in this and past tournaments, and the players at his disposal.
I doubt Southgate would get a job in the championship

We only tried to attack when we had to. Typical Southgate. However, Spain are far better than us.

Of course he's well liked and the players want him, he picks them even when they are garbage like Kane and Bellingham all tournament.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:58 pmSouthgate still hasn’t won a game where we weren’t favourites. Thanks for the memories Gaz we’ll never forget those wins against Holland, Panama, Iran, Tunisia, Wales, Senegal, Ukraine and Serbia.
Let’s be honest, the only time the media tried to convince us he was a great manager was between 10pm on Wednesday and 9:20pm today.

The Spain one isn't that good either to be fair, they've been the best at this poor tournament but they won't win the world cup not a chanceBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:57 pmfinishing runners up to the best side, there's some huge overreactions on here. Re: Spain v England
We go a goal down, he brings on Palmer and we score. Then, he get Gallagher to warm up. Says it all about the man.

Just before spain scored he was about to bring Gallagher on - more negativity . Agree with Poulton , we haven't been good . The pundits are hinting but not actually saying it , Southgate's not good enough. Gordon was given 5 minutes all tournament and played well .

We spend a large number of games as favourites and then, eventually, lose to a team more favoured than us.

Re: Spain v England
Such an awful manager he’s taken England further than anyone apart from Ramsey
He’s raised expectations of fans that you’re now able to watch England in finals
You haven’t been able to do it that since 1966
20yrs ago we were lucky/hoping to reach the QF’s
Now you’ve been watching England do that as a minimum
But yeah, he’s clearly a crap manager
Yes he’s guilty of being overly loyal to Kane tonight, but Kane has been in superb form all season and is capable of scoring from nothing
If he was carrying a niggle, Watkins should’ve started but hey ho
The ref was also guilty of letting Spain get away with a lot
Ah well, it is what it is

Sir Alf was brave enough to drop Jimmy Greaves, the top scorer in the league and became a winner. GS stuck by Kane and is a perennial runner up.
