A thoroughly entertaining evening with some great trick shots from a top bloke.

RIP Ray Reardon. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him on Pot Black and later the World Championships in the 1960s and 1970s when snooker and Ray were at their best.

One of the original greats of the game and always seemed like a thoroughly nice chap.

Remember him on TV one time giving some tips on how to improve your game and explaining his 'rectangle theory' for escaping from snookers which I often tried back in the day when I used to play a bit and quite often it would work.

When people have been in the spotlight during their careers, such as in sport, music, tv etc. they then eventually disappear and you tend not to hear anything about them until they pass away.

That leads you to thinking they’d already died.

He had an interesting life: he was trapped in a coal mine roof collapse when working as a miner pre-snooker days and later became a Stoke copper (and won a commendation for bravery in disarming a man). It also seems he was very well liked by his peers and later stars of the game.

Ray's passing is like a stake in the heart of the snooker world. RIP to an early snooker superstar and lovely chap.

He was black and white and then became colour! That launched snooker for real.

I saw the interview he did with Michael Parkinson over the weekend where he talked about being buried alive in a mine. Said he was stuck for three hours, not being able to move a muscle, before he was dug out. The only way he survived was by staying calm, not struggling and breathing through his nose. He was very matter of fact about it. Fascinating interview.
