Joey B
Re: Joey B
The two things aren't mutually exclusive, Joey Barton is a massive helmet and Eni Aluko is a terrible pundit.

Actually if you look on their home page Kick it Out are ‘here to end all forms of discrimination in sport’Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 8:36 pmNot sure exactly what the fine line is but irrespective an organisation that was set up with it’s one objective to kick out racism is going to offer educational courses on discrimination in relation to racism rather than other discriminatory areas would you not think ?
But again it’s splitting hairs!

It seems like the comment you've quoted has been deleted. Is there something offensive there?
Really disappointing and fairly childish behaviour all round by someone I'd presumed could have civilised conversation without resorting to petty and sarcastic comments. Il remember that next time he posts saying he needs time away from the board.

She is just maximising publicity.
Is it OK to refer to someone as ugly?

Russia and Saudi Arabia have such limited parameters for freedom of speech and expression, and such severe punishments for crossing those lines, that it dissuades most sane people from crossing those lines.
Over here you may get suspended or banned from your favourite social media platform for saying something offensive or spreading misinformation. Might even get a fine. But you’re not going to end up in a gulag for five years for calling the head of state a clown.

Back on topic. Barton says outlandish things to try and stay in the limelight. Unfortunately for him, it has caught up with him and bitten him on the arse. He's an idiot who likes to portray himself as an intelligent philosopher.
Aluko is also absolutely bobbins as a pundit, but so are countless others.

Wearing glasses, pretending to read books and telling everyone you are studying for a degree (which you never actually completed) might work in making a few people think you are intellectual for a week or so.
But when you actually have to prove yourself in front of the cameras like he did on Question Time it only takes a few minutes to expose yourself for what you really are.
There’s little point listing all the stupid things he’s done in his life - I have no idea how anyone can try and defend him for being anything other than a thick thug. And yes that includes his time at Burnley. Just because you are a good footballer and he clearly was for us does not change your character. Don’t expect him to be invited to any reunion. There’s few people in football have a good word to say about him - including all of his team mates.

I think this is a clumsy and heavy handed use of the law and it might well be a precedential case in English law. I hope the prosecution case fails or is thrown out because this setting an extremely low bar.
It's no exaggeration to say that far worse insults have been hurled on here without incident.

From a matter of politeness, taste and sociability he clearly made a prat of himself - to the extent that it's barely worth commenting on him. His own words are his epitath here and that is how it should have remained.

The law was enacted in ‘88 but it was updated in 2001 to include electronic communication (however sent) and has been amended another 6 times. There are people who are glad he's been charged and people who think that he should not have been charged. There are maybe a few in between these views.
