It's difficult to rank. People on Twitter/X you're looking at 1% of people who have a bit about them. On here, I'd say 5%. Facebook is higher as you get people using their profiles so you get better conversations going.

You’re probably right. Many on X seem like they have only recently learned to walk upright. I have a Twitter account but it’s so long since I went there I don’t know if I can still log in as I haven’t been on since it became X. FB I fell out with because has become infested with narcicists (here’s another picture of me drinking in the Algarve). As for Tic Toc, does that have an upper age limit of twelve?claretskeith wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:21 pmIt's difficult to rank. I once got thrown out of the Baxenden FB site. Full of people warning others about ‘odd looking strangers’ because they saw someone walking down Southwood Drive they didn’t know. I pointed out that they were scaring people with no reason. ‘Reporting’ the movements of unmarked vans lurking mysteriously. I just said it’s only gypsies looking for old fridges.claretskeith wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:52 pmI think I've posted once on my Facebook profile in about a year, but I read the BurnleyBanter Facebook group as you can get some decent conversations going. I carried on in this irreverent manner, gleaning increasing abuse from the good people of the ‘village’ (for that is what they like to call it) until one day I really overstepped the mark. I started a thread about horse sh!te and its appearance all over the place and how the owners should be made to pick it up like dog owners. I suggested they carry a large bag and a spade when they ride around the ‘village’. The thread was trundling along merrily until two very indignant users started being quite offensive to me and shortly after I was barred. They were the two main moderators who, unbeknownst to me, owned horses.
My daughter eventually got me back in somehow but I rarely visit it now.

Re: Trafford’s tweet
Probably.
To be fair though I am also a member of a similar site for Ulverston where we have a caravan pitched. It’s wonderful and celebrates that town and all its glory. No name calling. No scary stories. No arguments. Just a bunch of people talking about local stuff in the way it should be, with a guy who takes beautiful pics and posts them for others to enjoy. Great place that is maybe smaller than Bacup but has nearly 30 pubs that serve great beer and, mostly, food. Heaving on weekends but I have never seen a fight and people stand aside if you want to get to the bar. Loads going on as well. Thinking about retiring there.

So delcroix, amdouni, tresor, weghorst seem to be the only ones missing with weghorst obviously looking like he's off and would still be on euros leave, the tresor mystery continues, amdouni euros

Amdouni’s last involvement was first week of July. I’m surprised he’s not back this week, given our season starts in two.brazilianclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:54 pmNow back in training with the camp in spain - can be seen in the airport and in the gym

Re: Trafford’s tweet
The game was 6th July, clubs are supposed to give players at least 3 weeks off and it varies with some giving longer and some players choosing to come back earlier. Hopefully he'll join up sometime this week if he's sticking around.
Jota who played the day before joined up with Liverpool at the weekend but Dias hasn't joined up with city yet as an eg - in general from the manager quotes and returns from the 'big teams' which is obviously more publicised City seem to be giving there's longer Arsenal seem to be going back sooner from the people who reached the quarters and beyond but even then there are differences and some will depend on the individual and their circumstances

Re: Trafford’s tweet
It is quite coincidental, if you had asked me at the end of last season to guess three players who won't turn up for pre-season, I'd have said Tresor, Weghorst and Amdouni. Let's wait and see if it is Euro's related with the latter two, or more a reluctance to be involved and force a transfer. I would have thought that it has been more than enough weeks to expect Amdouni back in my opinion as a layman - the season starts in 13 days and Switzerland's loss to England was 25 days ago.

Can't understand people wanting to see Delcroix leave. A fit & firing Delcroix would be an outstanding central defender in the Championship.
Re: Trafford’s tweet
He wouldn't be 'outstanding', he'd be adequate, this team is better than that and an 'adequate' Championship player isn't any use in the Premier League, where we'll be next year.
One to go, for me.

He’s another that was thrown under the bus by Kompany last season. Sticking him in at left back when he’s a centre half.

I think it’s more of a case that he’s plays on the left side of the defence but Estève is better and then we have so many options. O’Shea, Beyer and Ekdal are better than delcroix in my opinion and al-dakhil is only 21 so has a higher celling

I'd say similar for the majority of our players. Kompany hung them all out to dry last season. I still think a Dyche type manager would have kept them up. I'll reserve judgement on all of them until we see what they have to offer this coming season.

They were signed to play Pl football, if they turned out not good enough it''s probably because they were the best we could get for the money.

Ok, we won't bother with a manager/head coach anymore. We'll just get the best players we can and throw them on a pitch and hope for the best if all that matters is the standard of player.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 5:25 pmI think it's time to drop this "thrown under a bus" analogy.

We started the season going gung-ho and being picked off by far more tactically astute managers, and then progressed to a passive 4-4-2 where several players looked lost. The tactics were so bad the players didn't stand a chance. Which is why I'll reserve judgement until I've seen what they can do in a setup that plays more to their strengths.

Not sure on the formation SP will play, but wether it’s 3 or 4 at the back we need a left sided backup for Esteve and I don’t think we have another left footed CB

I think you are missing the point. It's an over-used excuse in my personal opinion.
Look back at the costly errors spread throughout the team: were all the squad thrown under a bus?

If we did that, we’d be short on cover at left centre back

********.
He might’ve played centre half later on, but he was thrown in at left back first (as was Al-Dakhil, Vitinho, Roberts)
All because Kompany was too stubborn to initially play the only left back we had, who incidentally is still a Premier League player.

Re: Trafford’s tweet
It isn't fake news though is it, Delcroix is a natural centre back who can fill in at left back.
He's never filled in at left back at premier league level though and it is correct that VK refused to play Taylor there to begin with.
Sooner you accept his failings and that he's gone your life will become easier.
Let him go.

We signed Delcroix and played him at left back less than a week later in what was basically a 4-2-4 at home to Villa, he looked awful and they walked all over us. It wasn't exactly setting him up for success.

Re: Trafford’s tweet
I can't remember the game (although something in my head is saying Spurs in the cup) but Delcroix did look really good in one match last season playing at centre back. There is something there, he would definitely be good in the Championship I would think.
The reality is though that we just have too many centre backs and no need for all of them. I really do rate Ekdal, but he seems the most obvious to possibly try and sell on due to his injuries and the simple fact that O'Shea, Beyer, Esteve are all better than him (in my opinion), and Al-Dakhil has bags of potential. I'd look to move on Ekdal and McNally as minimum, and Delcroix would possibly be another depending on squad size.
