I care about the bloody cost of it as a French taxpayer when the money could have been used for more pressing purposes.
You will be happy to know that Celine Dion and Lady Gaga did not take a fee according to the 2024 Olympic Committee. All performers were happy just to contribute to a historic global event.

Meanwhile in the boxing an Algerian man who thinks he is a woman fights an actual woman and unsurprisingly knocks her senseless
Interestingly the Algerian boxer is a woman and the only people calling her a man are liars or have fallen for lies. For some reason a lot of people want this to be a trans issue but she was born a girl and is just cis woman with higher than average testosterone.

This person was banned from a previous competition when a test concluded that they had XY chromosomes. Its a long time since I did biology at school but doesn't this make a person a male?
The test was undertaken by the IBA and gave the same result as for Lin Yu-ting, the Taiwan boxer who was also banned from IBA competition for women (on the basis that XY indicated a male).

I know the IBA has some dodgy history but is there a suggestion that they fixed the chromosome test? (Straight question).

The head of the IBA told the media she failed because a test showed XY chromosomes but it doesn't seem to actually be true. Seems to have failed due to testosterone levels.

16 year old Megan Havers, from Leicestershire, reaches the last 8 of the Women's Archery, after defeating her much higher ranked French opponent ... not the first time the French have had problems with English Archers ... ;)

I posted something on this thread last night and it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know how or why that happens and how it can be reinstated? I spent quite a bit of time providing information of interest. I'm capable of failing to press "send" but this time I know it was there, as I saw it for a little while before I went to bed.

Italian female boxer abandons the fight against an Algerian man who thinks he is a woman..The man landed one punch to the head and the Italian woman threw the towel in and rightly so. How much longer must women put up with this nonsense. One woman's Olympic dream gone because the IOC failed to deal with these men and their warped thinking.

As a woman I am horrified by what that poor Italian woman has gone through. Four years of training and dedication and she had to fight a man. Had many discussions on here with men defending their fellow men and telling me they should be treated like women and the small minority being trans won't make a difference. Well it just has and I hope you're hanging your heads in shame.

Sorry to butt into a great thread but I'm absolutely furious, her hopes and dreams taken away in less than a minute.

From what I can see the Algerian boxer was born a girl so this isn't a trans issue.

She tested as having 'too high' testosterone levels a few years ago. Both men and women produce the chemical in varying amounts, but the baseline for men is much higher.

What is she supposed to do? Say even though I have been born and raised female, with the right genitalia, I'll fight literal men because my chemicals don't suit a regulator who isn't anything to do with the IOC?

She's not trans. Born a girl. Just has high testosterone from what has been reported. Everything else is just wild speculation.

It's pretty simple, no matter what your view on trans participation in women's sports, that the Algerian boxer is not a man or a trans woman.

To me it's pretty clear that posting online upset because a woman may have a DSD and looks quite like a man isn't something anyone would do if they were legitimately concerned with the integrity of women's sport.

The IBA has issued a statement that two boxers have been tested and did not meet the criteria for classification as female, this test had nothing to do with testosterone levels, for some reason they are not revealing what the test was. Unsurprisingly both boxers did not contest the decision.

This may not suit the agenda that you are pushing but they are effectively saying these two are men.

The two boxers concerned have been tested and have XY chromosomes the fact this Algerian man was born with abnormal genitalia is irrelevant.

Both boxers have failed gender tests twice this is not speculation "buddy" it is fact.

Transwomen should not compete in women's sport. I'm certain we are aligned on that. If she was born a male then we'd be fully agreed.

However someone is born female like the Algerian was then they should have every right to compete, no matter their testosterone levels. As far as anyone is aware that is the only thing 'wrong' with her. What I don't agree with is speculating based on a test done by a governing body that has since been stripped of its role, for which the results have never been made public.

Phelps won the genetic lottery; he had webbed feet, large hands and his lungs were twice as efficient as normal people and nobody begrudged him his natural advantage in the swimming events.

Phelps competed in the sexual category he was entitled to, any one with XY chromosomes is not entitled to compete in a female category.

The fact that she wouldn't be able to compete as a professional in any women's division tells you enough. She's failed DNA testing.

I don't know why people feel the need to try and justify it.

Its a bloke knocking women about.

Algerian Olympic committee and the boxer herself (https://www.unicef.org/algeria/en/stori ... ung-people), who really should know.

I've not seen any reliable news source state unequivocally that she is trans. Even the Daily Mail only put 'biological male' in quotation marks.

We're on the same side. Trans women should not compete against natural women.

But until it is proven she is trans then she should be allowed. Basing decisions on evidence is going out of fashion lately I know, but I'm still sticking with it.

What is your source of information that this boxer is female?

It seems very, very unlikely from what we know. Bear in mind that being male is not a disqualifying characteristic for entry into the women's boxing as far as the IOC are concerned.

You say this boxer may have a DSD. Certainly if this boxer is female (I mean actual sex not what identity documents may or may not state) with a DSD then that changes the picture altogether. But surely it is much more likely that this is similar to the Caster Semenya situation. As I explained last night if you saw it, it is now public knowledge that Semenya is male with a DSD that only affects males. Semenya has all the male power advantage that male puberty brings.

Are you seriously suggesting that you are happy to see a male boxer punching a female boxer? Of course it is not just about the integrity of women's sport but, in this case, it is about women's safety.

I'll bet he looks like Johnny Vegas! Her reply....actually no, he's a bit of a blonde haired stud ! Quite a looker ! 🤣
