Haffners Pies sponsor Colne FC stadium.
Pity that they are not available on the Turf.
However, they are available at a number of outlets in the Burnley and Padiham area. Check the website for details.
The Meat & Potato and the Meat & Onion are just the best.
I live close to Bertwistles in Padiham which does great pies but still no match for Haffners.

For those of you who love a haffners pie (I do, love em) then try out the steak and potato pie made by Milltown pies up near queens gate bus depot. Superb they are.

Haffner's pies are not available on The Turf but are available in the
little kiosk in the fanzone.

Haffners pie and peas was £6.50 in the fan zone last season, but only 3 quid at the little butty shop across from the Park View.
Re: Haffners Pies sponsor Colne FC stadium.
They only put them up due to premier league prices so going off there price rise I'm thinking we'll have the original price reinstated for championship pricesClovius Boofus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:24 amThey'd put their prices down if people didn't buy 'em.
I won't hold my breath.
Absolute rip off for cheap crap pies and lager on the ground.

The queues seemed to be noticeably down last season whenever I saw them so they’ve either got incredibly quick with the service or people are voting with their feet.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:24 amThey'd put their prices down if people didn't buy 'em.

I think speed of service can safely be ruled out, if it is the same staff next season hopefully they have spent the summer trainingBordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:35 amThe queues seemed to be noticeably down last season whenever I saw them so they’ve either got incredibly quick with the service or people are voting with their feet.

I've given up on my HT pint, and haven't bought anything to eat on the Turf in years. Anyhow, this will most likely be our last season as season ticket holders. We have other commitments and those 12.30pm KO times sure mess with them. Fans are secondary when it comes to TV rights, but we all know this.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:23 amIf a pint was £6 last season that sounds likely

Sadly football clubs bow to TV companies and the non attending fan is more important to the them than match going supporters.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:38 amI've given up on my HT pint, and haven't bought anything to eat on the Turf in years. Found out a couple of weeks ago that my Grandma used to make Haffners pies!
Re: Haffners Pies sponsor Colne FC stadium.
Milltown are generally decent if you can look past the hygiene rating, i like them a lot.
far better than Haffners, which i've always found to be a bit of Urban Legend, they are ok, but nothing special to me. You'll find better in most butchers/bakers shops. and i know my pies.

Go to the Haffners bakery shop on marlborough street in Burnley. It is in the actual bakery and consists of a table surrounded by lots of pies just out of the ovens and a price list. It’s open until 1pm. Can’t get fresher than that.

We had been going to Haffners for years, we even went when they had their bakery on Clarence St, but nowadays I prefer Milltown, Hanson, or TD Laws in Hassy or Alpes in Clitheroe.GetIntoEm wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:56 amMilltown are generally decent if you can look past the hygiene rating, i like them a lot.

I'd be happy with a Haffners pie if I was watching footie in Colne.

oh yeah, dont get me wrong, a haffners trumps any football stadium pie everyday.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:44 amWe had been going to Haffners for years, we even went when they had their bakery on Clarence St, but nowadays I prefer Milltown, Hanson, or TD Laws in Hassy or Alpes in Clitheroe.

i just dont think they are the "Lord and Savior" of pies like some people talk about them.
Alpes is a good shout, if you catch a warm sausage roll from there you're in for a treat.

I just miss a good Lancashire pie,all I get up here in Scotland is rock hard pastry mashed potato topped with baked beans pies ,I've seriously considered returning home just to get a decent pie...but the wife wouldn't consider moving back to Lancashire....I suppose I could divorce her.

I regularly smuggle pies across the border to stock up.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:57 amI just miss a good Lancashire pie,all I get up here in Scotland is rock hard pastry mashed potato topped with baked beans pies ,I've seriously considered returning home just to get a decent pie...but the wife wouldn't consider moving back to Lancashire....I suppose I could divorce her.![]()
One of the hardest things about living in Scotland as a Lancastrian is the complete lack of decent pies. Especially difficult for someone who at one stage lived and worked in Wigan, where the good folk are known as 'pie eaters' by those in less enlightened nearby towns.
I may visit an alternative supplier to stock up in future, but have done so on the journey north at a bakers just off the A65 between Skipton and Kendal before joining the M6; Endmoor Bakery in Endmoor.

The one good thing about the colder months - it gives me a good excuse to have pies more often.

If you are ever over the Fylde coast, i would highly recommend a pie from The Pork Shop in Poulton-le-Fylde.

Let's hope the sponsor fee is enough to pay for some new drainage.
They can't be having all them games called off again this season.

This thread wetted my appetite for an English pie,so I went to the CO-OP and got 4 Hollands frozen ones I know they are a pale imitation of a pie but in my current crisis of having to eat bobbins Scottish ones any port in a storm,I find it incredulous the Scottish are clueless when it comes to making a tasty pie.SlidingTackle wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:26 amI regularly smuggle pies across the border to stock up.

Hollands are possibly the worst pies I have come across.
The Meat & Potato (Potato & Meat ?) consists of soggy pastry filled with some form of potato soup.

You sure you didn't microwave it? That sounds like a microwave pie to me. If you cooked it properly and it still came out like that, my sympathies. at least you'll know not to buy them again.Dressinggown wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 4:19 pmHollands are possibly the worst pies I have come across.
