Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
From memory Richardson, Casper and Waller have been on the bench in a league game although didn't get on. They would therefore have had a number at some time.
Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
Why wouldn't Dodgson have one. Surely it means they have a loan lined up. He was linked with Celtic and Rangers last season so clearly had a decent loan spell

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
They would have been given squad numbers once they got on the bench but Richardson's appearances were back in the 2020/21 season and Casper was in 2022/23. Wasn't aware that Waller had been on the bench.

You would think so but even though he was out on loan for much of last season he did have a squad number.

What does Agyei not having a number tend to mean at this stage? That we can't expect him to be involved? Assumed he'd be sniffing around the first team given his appearance in the friendly.

You have to have a number to play but they can be allocated at any time.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 2:58 pmWhat does Agyei not having a number tend to mean at this stage? Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
From a rapidly ageing memory Watford away in the game when Weghorst was subbed and had a big sulk. I think someone was injured in the warm up leaving a man short on the bench. Waller was the spare travelling keeper so was named at the last minute. I have this vague memory of itClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 2:57 pmThey would have been given squad numbers once they got on the bench but Richardson's appearances were back in the 2020/21 season and Casper was in 2022/23. We'd two goalkeepers on the bench that day but they were Hennessey and Norris.Petersa wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 3:04 pmFrom a rapidly ageing memory Watford away in the game when Weghorst was subbed and had a big sulk. 2024/25 Squad List: (from the Club website)
1 James Trafford
2 Dara O’Shea
3 Shurandy Sambo
5 Maxime Estève
6 CJ Egan Riley
7 Johann Berg Gudmundsson
8 Josh Brownhill
9 Jay Rodriguez
10 Manuel Benson
11 Scott Twine
14 Connor Roberts
15 Nathan Redmond
16 Sander Berge
17 Lyle Foster
18 Hjalmar Ekdal
19 Anass Zaroury
20 Etienne Green
21 Aaron Ramsey
22 Vitinho
23 Lucas Pires
24 Josh Cullen
25 Zeki Amdouni
28 Ameen Al-Dakhil
29 Wout Weghorst
30 Luca Koleosho
31 Mike Trésor
32 Vaclav Hladký
34 Luke McNally
36 Jordan Beyer
37 Andréas Hountondji
40 Charlie Casper
42 Han-Noah Massengo
44 Hannes Delcroix
45 Michael Obafemi
47 Wilson Odobert
48 Enock Agyei
I make that 36. The squad limit is 25 plus Players who were born after 1/1/2003. ( I make those 6 - Egan-Riley, Ramsey, Odobert, Koleosho, Casper and Egyei). So that makes 31, so if I've got it right (and it's a big if!), we need to lose 5 from the list.

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
Interesting nobody has taken Cork’s number. Maybe, just maybe he could do a JBG? Though I’m not sure if that’s just nostalgia talking!Leisure wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 3:21 pm2024/25 Squad List: (from the Club website)

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
There are a lot of players that you'd expect to be moved on that have taken sought after numbers.
May of course be reading too much into it but perhaps signposts that some folks exit isn't the foregone conclusion we think it is

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
They take incompetence to a new level on a regular basis - they publish the squad numbers and within an hour they've had to change it three times because they didn't included some players.

I may have missed it but seems odd.

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
I notice Twine has number 11. Maybe our new manager likes what he has seen in the friendlies or he just didn't want to change it.

Have we retired the number 4 or are we looking at a new player to fill it

Re: New Squad Numbers for 2024/25
Managers wouldn't just a change a squad number because a player isn't in their plans. Often it's nothing to do with the manager. It's usually just left to the players and new players especially just get given a list from the kitman of available numbers.
