We can’t afford to lose( on the pitch) both Brownhill and Berge.
Trabsonspor need to focus on Wout.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Conway is a good young player who will only improve. He is refusing to sign a new contract at the minute, and only a year left, so is a decent price. The problem is where to fit him in with all the strikers we already have.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
What is it with these Turkish teams and our players. Do they, for some reason, think we are going to sell to them at bargain basement prices. If rumours are to be believed, they put a bid in, find out the actual asking price and then go elsewhere. They should have learnt by now.

He was in Gawthorpe this week. If he hasn't gone by Monday, we should play him. He would be top at this level, the new Ashley.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think some of your valuations are a tad optimistic. Particularly O Shea and Obafemi, not a chance.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 11:13 am25m for Berge
20m for O’Shea
20m for Trafford
5m for weghorst
4m for twine
1m for mcnally
500k for Delcroix
1m for obafemi
That should help finances and be able to invest in another keeper and centre midfielder whilst bringing an Egan type in

Obafemi? We were quoted sonething silly like 13m when we chased him 2 years ago. He's a current international. You seriously think we wouldn't have a chance of £1m for him?
Fwiw, I think his estimated values were all reasonable.

Nobody in the Championship has any money. Throw in question marks over his attitude at Swansea and Millwall and i'd be very surprised if we got a million for him.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:12 pmObafemi? An excellent post JarrowClaret.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 10:03 amWas he reluctant to come? I personally have seen nothing to support that theory other than how long the transfer took maybe I missed that not sure. Look things didn’t go well for him last season that is clear, I think there are a number of factors for that some of which we are not aware of and all built up in him which affected his football. also I agree defensively he is not good and needs to improve hugely there. I have no issue with you disagreeing with me about him football is a game of opinions and we all have 1, but I saw glimpses of what could be a fantastic footballer in this division and in the prem in the future if he is used correctly.
I think reading between the lines of what Parker had to say about him yesterday it strikes me as another MH issue and he will be missing for a while anyway.
A refreshing view as opposed to some of nonsense posted on here by some who know nothing of Tresor's personal situation.

We’ve a £50m hole in our income following relegation.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 11:25 amIf both Berge and Brownhill go without experienced/quality replacements, then it's a gamechanger for me, as it could well indicate how much we have a financial problem (caused by the likely ridiculous overspending last year).
Fag packet maths but Muric and vk have reduced this to under £30m. If more than £30m is raised from sales they’ll be plenty for replacements etc…
We’re financially ok I believe as long as we’re back up within a couple of seasons.

One day we won’t go back up with two seasons (and this could well be that day, if we sell Berge, O’Shea, Brownhill etc). There is seemingly no plan for that day. I’d genuinely be very happy to get promoted and spend everything we make paying ALK’s myriad loans off. Feels like there’s no long term plan for that inevitability.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:47 pmWe’re financially ok I believe as long as we’re back up within a couple of seasons.

We've a £100m parachute payment that should help.

We need to trim the squad but I’ve no doubt that bigger name departures will be replaced. Naturally allows sp to mould the team to his tactics and bring in a few of his players.
Brownhill leaves for nothing next summer so you’d imagine he’ll be high up the list to be sold.
Our championship record in the last 20 years is pretty impressive (best ever in champ history?) chances we won’t go up this year or next are very slim.
Wouldn’t unduly worry for foreseeable personally.

To be clear, I reckon we go up this season (barring really bad departures) but I just think one day we will get an appointment wrong etc. I just hope we see getting back to being debt free as a priority rather than something we intend to live with indefinitely.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:18 pmOur championship record in the last 20 years is pretty impressive (best ever in champ history?) chances we won’t go up this year or next are very slim.

So do I, but I'm not sure a club like ours can run debt free at the top table for very long without someone spunking money away from their own pocket.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:21 pmTo be clear, I reckon we go up this season (barring really bad departures) but I just think one day we will get an appointment wrong etc. I just hope we see getting back to being debt free as a priority rather than something we intend to live with indefinitely.
I know we did it previously whilst the owners saved up enough money to plunge us into debt but the cracks were starting to show towards the end despite Dyches miracles.

Under the current ownership we’ll literally never be debt free as under previous regimes.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:21 pmTo be clear, I reckon we go up this season (barring really bad departures) but I just think one day we will get an appointment wrong etc. I just hope we see getting back to being debt free as a priority rather than something we intend to live with indefinitely.
We’re set up, run and financially managed in a completely different way these days. Not saying it’s good or bad, just different .
I wouldn’t worry too much about future head coaches after sp. All goes well sp will be head coach for years.
I think we’ll be up this year too, should be fun

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We actually have the prospect of cumulative parachute payments that add up to around £80m over two seasons and nothing after (a little over £45m this season) - and we do not get the second one if we are promoted at the end of this season. Under current practice, that, would be evenly distributed across the 20 members of the Premier League in the 2025/26 season - meaning about £1.7m for each team.

Very Cullen-esque but perhaps more forward thinking. I liked what I saw and he seems to have been doing it week in, week out in League One with a really decent goal return too.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:46 pmBrannagan at Oxford is a great player, I would look at him as a serious option
I’d take him as a rotation option/backup for Cullen and Brownhill. I say that though not really knowing how good Massengo is or isn’t. If Berge was to be sold I’d prefer a ‘bigger’ profile in there, and I mean that in height/size. Ben Sheaf is an obvious target but unsure if Coventry would sell.

Collins looked in the PL when he was with us. I don't know what he was like at Brentford. Plus he's younger than Dara.Robbie_painter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:39 pmAs much as I like O’Shea he definitely isn’t better than Collins

I’d disagree. He was quite calamitous for us (handball!). We’d have stayed up that season had Mee not been injured (and we played Cork a bit more).
He was definitely the same for Wolves and Brentford in his early time there. Pulled it around second half of the season for the Bees. I honestly doubt he’d have been any better in Kompany’s high line and probably a lot worse.
I agree about his age, which will limit Dara’s price a bit, although he’s coming in to his peak and as we’ve seen with Solanke today, 25/26 year olds go for big fees.

If any offer comes in for Brownhill it would have to be seriously considered if we need the finances
Out of contract at the end of this season
As with a lot of players now Brownhill may be happy to see out this last year as he can possibly make some good money for himself as a free agent next summer
Interesting aspect to the Ivan Toney situation in that if he also decides to see out his contract at Brentford
Peterborough will lose a potential windfall from a sell on agreement they hold if no transfer fee generated

I had never heard of Bashir Humphrey's, but initial checks said he was a centre back who was on loan at Swansea last year. I had assumed he was possibly an O'Shea replacement, but after watching the video I linked below, it seems he is just as capable of playing at left back. If so, perhaps we are after him as Parker wants true competition there with just Pires a dedicated left back as it stands:

He’s had ample time over the summer to get married! I find it strange that this has happened during a time when he should be working. Are we going to give him some extra time off to honeymoon too?

I am starting to wonder if we were ever really in for Conway. If we wanted him we have the money and the players (i.e, Twine) to make it happen pretty quickly.
