Today's football 10/08/24
It kicks off at 12:30 today, and I've just had a browse through the teams looking for familiar names. For those interested; Ben Gibson captains his new Stoke City side, Jimmy Dunne adds another appearance for QPR, no sign of Ashley Barnes at Norwich, Lukas Jensen debuts for Millwall as does Lawrence Vigouroux for Swansea, Nahki Wells is on the bench for Bristol City who have no mention of Tommy Conway in their matchday squad.
I'm not sure if I've missed anybody.

Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Does the 3pm blackout not apply any more? I see the Community Shield is on ITV at 3pm at the same time as League 2 games. What happened to protecting the smaller teams?
Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Take your pick of matches to watch. I have chosen Oxford v Norwich to start. I think it might be a good game with Oxford going for it.

Leeds have hit the bar 3 times in the opening 6 minutes.
I think they’ll take some stopping this season.

Maybe, but Portsmouth look totally out of their depth.

The little teams don't matter so much when them from Mancs are on TV.Paulclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:28 pmDoes the 3pm blackout not apply any more? I see the Community Shield is on ITV at 3pm at the same time as League 2 games. What happened to protecting the smaller teams?

Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Yes they’ve been overwhelmed. I wasn’t basing my prediction on that though, I just think Leeds look the best equipped to win the league currently.
1-0 up now from the spot, rank defending.

The Sky Sports+ games are darker on my TV than the Oxford vs Norwich game. I always seem to have something wrong when I stream sports.

One of my friends is a Sunderland fan. He isn't confident: "Season starts today god knows how we we will do, still don’t have a senior striker."
Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Luke O'Nien scored. Like the majority of people, I think, I discovered him through STID. Came over well when interviewed and has maximised his potential on Wearside. Remember him having a good gamed at TM two seasons ago. Gooch played superbly that night too.

The Sky Leeds love fest is in full swing. Both commentators sound like they're going to have an orgasm if Leeds string 2 passes together.

Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Its been said many times, but the standard of the Championship is lightyears away from the Premier League, might as well be watching a different sport.
If they apply themselves, we’ve got several players in this squad that will absolutely tear up the league.

Re: Today's football 10/08/24
Good chance they will. Some of Pompey’s decision making is very naive. They’ve shown some bottle to turn this around after being pulverised for 15 minutes.

It's great watching football without the wait to see if VAR are going to get involved when a goal is scored, especially when the goal is against Leeds.

The co-comentator is definitely a Leeds fan. The main commentator sounds like Bryn Law, and if so, has been commentating on LUTV for some years.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:10 pmThe Sky Leeds love fest is in full swing. I wonder whether Sky are just going to be using club commentary? Surely not.

Be interesting to see how many games Barnes features for Norwich. Saw him a few times at the end of last season and he appeared to be struggling
