Yeh I seem to remember Matt Williams talking about that doesn’t mean he was reluctant to move, although I accept that could be the reason but it is more likely an indication of crap admin.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:39 pmHe missed his scheduled flight didn't he? Al Dakhil is certainly quite ‘wirey’. But when the team photo came out at the start of last season I remember saying to my dad that Al Dakhil was the one with the widest shoulders in the whole photo. He’s a big lad. He just needs to learn to be more aggressive and use his size to his advantage.

That's a ridiculous valuation. One season in one of the poorest teams in Premier League history, with 3 goals in 29 games.

Great news for us. He’ll go Forest, I imagine, but Ipswich are throwing some cash about.
Already signed Delap, Greaves and Hamer would be a 3rd above anything we paid last summer. Shows what you’re dealing with.
In some ways does make me think our strategy of buying them young from foreign leagues while they’re cheap is the better one.
Greaves, for example, looks good in the air but slow as sheet. I think he’ll be tore a new one in the prem and they’ve spent £18.5m on him!

From the sounds of it he’s been a star player (as well as Elliott) in pre season.
Not exactly a mind blowing sum either for a young lad.
Must just be Arne Slot has decided he doesn’t want him and needs the funds

I’m interested in seeing how McNeil gets on in his new role. He’s been playing as a ten in pre season and from all accounts has looked pretty good.

That's not a new role. He mainly played centrally until he got closer to our first team where he was played out wide more.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 7:52 amThink Everton will be pretty comfortable this season.

Dyche did that with a number of players to adapt them to his rigid system. Gudmundson, Airfield and Boyd are all other examples. It obviously worked wonders for the system but I don't think it did any favors to those players individual performances. I think Dyche is finally adapting a bit more now he has better players under his disposal.

He was a decent player, underrated by many, but appreciated by those who could see his worth.
Thing is with Burnley, you have to be exceptional at something. Defour had the class, Marney had the graft rate, but Jeff was just a steady 7/10 most weeks. Thing is, he was Dyches Mr versatile and was asked to play all over the place…sometimes to the players detriment.

Yes, especially as Ipswich play out from the back. Slow & slow on the turn is my view (good in the air). I think he’ll get murdered, but let’s see. Will admit if I’m wrong.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 10:09 amYeah I didn't think Greaves looked up too much when we played Hull in the 22/23 season - I think he will struggle
When Ipswich are paying £18.5m for Greaves, I cannot understand it when people think £20m for O’Shea is outrageous. Especially when we got £22.5m for half-a-season Collins when we went down last time.
FWIW, it also shows how one good season in the Championship and players are going for £18.5m. For that reason, I’d keep hold of the likes of Twine & McNally myself, but realise that’s highly unlikely now.
