Re: Worsley Cup Final
The Tod bowler came rather unhinged there ...... 6-wd-wd-0-6-2 in the penultimate over, arguing with the umpire after the first wide, led away by teammates, with Tod players coming in to apologise to the umpire ...

Re: Worsley Cup Final
Play Cricket is still showing Lowerhouse at 156/6 with nine overs to bowl but then you look at the scorecard further down which doesn't match the actual score.

Re: Worsley Cup Final
Proper 1 day cricket that. Swung one way and the other right up til the last few balls. When Paddy was out with 38 runs needed off just 28 balls I thought that was it .... but then we started to connect with a few and Tod just fell apart. Bowling so many wides, poor fielding and some downright abject bowling at the end by Jos.

Yes I did Certainly didn’t want cup going to Yarkshire ! But I thought Tod just lost the plot. Why bowl Jos at the death ?

Yes, well done Lowerhouse, that's one of the cups in town, let's hope Burnley can make it a double with the league.

CT. I was watching the stream so didn’t know what happened when a player was injured off screen. I thought the opening bowler had 2 overs left but might be wrong. Was he injured

Tod had a bowler bowling his first over in the 48 th over and Jos bowling the 47 and 49 th. Makes no sense barring an injury or a miss calculation by the Captain

I left the game a couple of hours ago and just checked in fully expecting Todmorden to have won fairly comfortably.
What a win for Lowerhouse. Tremendous from the lower order.

Ignore me the 4 in a row was for effect. Couldn't possibly be right due to Covid anyway. CPCC are nothing according to The Powerhouse and they would never wish them well that was my point!

Re: Worsley Cup Final
I, for one, am happy for Burnley to win the title or a cup - as long as we can't. As the league stands now it appears to be a 2 horse race with BCC holding a 1 point advantage, though both Lowerhouse and Clitheroe are just about hanging in there some 30 points behind with just 5 to play.Blue Skies wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 8:22 pmCT - I doubt the Powerhouse fans will echo your sentiment unfortunately. Re: Worsley Cup Final
Super effort from the house, although the Todders well & truly threw that away with a large amount of no balls at the end, before this it had seemed a lost cause for a while.
Having said that, house will feel it shouldn’t have come to that after the way it started prior to a super knock by the Tod pro , but a fantastic & exciting one day-er had by all.

Re: Worsley Cup Final
This is comparing " chalk and cheese " I know, but if you know your sporting history, you'll know that Baseball's Yankee Stadium, in New York, was known as " the house that Ruth built ", after the exploits of Bath Ruth ... Lowerhouse CC had not won a major trophy from 1862, until it's first Worsley Cup win in 2004 ..
As the most modest of men, Stan Heaton, " Mr Lowerhouse " will hate this comparison, but the current Club, with it's success on and off the field, at all levels, is surely " The 'House that Stan built " ...

Excellent game and advert for Lancs League. Great knock by LH number 8 when it looked to be all over. I was pretty square on for the run out appeal late on. How the square leg umpire didn’t give it I have no idea

Where i stand. We've done the biz. Time for Burnley to do the biz. If they and Darwen monumentally make a mess of it(and it's highly highly unlikely) then we'll wait to pounce. 4 of the bottom 5 to plsy.
Fwiw...Burnley should win it from here with Darwens pro going home.

Looked ok from my view but I'll admit I was in no position to call it as I was stood at deep cover and a lot of Lowerhouse fans with a better view said it looked out.claretgilly wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 9:15 pmExcellent game and advert for Lancs League. Really enjoyable game, Ive always liked Tod so have a soft spot for them. (worked there for 12 years and love the ground)
They didn't really deserve to lose the game, it was very close for most of the game.
Tod pro looked brilliant, Franky played a really daft shot in the position we were in, two very evenly matched sides with the ball, with Lowerhouse just having more depth with the bat.

You had your chance at Burnley when you failed to do the biz lol. Congrats today but dont be holding your breath about winning the league. Nice to hear that at least 1 of the Burnley team were at the game. Hope there was no bad language in front of the young childSomethingfishy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 9:33 pmWhere i stand. Re: Worsley Cup Final
Apparently Noah Priestly who had bowled excellently injured himself in the field and was unable to bowl his last 2 overs. This meant that Rickard had to bowl 1 over and Joseph two and we all saw what happened. No idea why Moore only bowled 6 of his allotted 10 overs unless he to suffered an injury. His first 6 overs only went for 18 runs. Sorry to hear about Priestly who was taken to hospital. I wish him well for the future
Re: Worsley Cup Final
Did see someone go over funny on the boundary going for a catch after 40ish overs, required some attention at the time and do hope he is okay.FCBurnley wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 9:51 pmApparently Noah Priestly who had bowled excellently injured himself in the field and was unable to bowl his last 2 overs. FCBurnley, glad to see your still enjoying your cricket, although thousands of miles from here. It must be heartening, having the opportunity to watch local League cricket again and feel like your still local.

Hi Bfc. Hope you are well and yes it is weird watching local cricket live on tv in America ! When I came here in 2008 only pl football was available but now every EFL and PL game is live. Glad to see that nothing changes in the local cricket rivalry. Except that house now win the odd game ! Not sure what the clarets will do this season. Hopefully we’ll but I am not very confident Take care

Re: Worsley Cup Final
A brilliant day with some brilliant cricket to match the amazing weather and fantastic crowd. As ALWAYS superbly run off the field by the well oiled Lowerhouse machine who tbf have had plenty of practice and actually Tod SHOULD have spoiled their day and carried it off as with 4 or 5 overs left and after plenty of nip and tuck, they seemed to have got themselves in "the box seat" (as Richie Benaud used to say) but this season's conundrum signing by Lowerhouse Charlie Gansler wasn't having any of it and fair play he turned it on it's head and took 'Ouse over the line.

Cash counting not my responsibility. Shared the evening with my 1 and 4 year old, my wife, Dad and family. Memories.
For the nerds, the stream had 6000 views (so far) and 741 watching at once at its peak at the end.

Spammed the Lowerhouse website with photos today if anyone’s interested.
Now confirmed league record gate, beating our record in 2018 beat our record in 2004.
Attached drone shots show you size of the crowd at around 1.15pm. Only got busier.

You'll likely disagree but Ive always thought it was a pointless stat, because you cant compare it to anything.
It should be measured by people through the gate, but I understand its always been done that way.

Is the gate money just counted on single entry or are the tents and tables sold counted in the final total?
