Disappointing but not unexpected (that he might leave, not the speed it happened).

Good luck to the lad. I hope he gets a look in and his career doesn't stall through sitting on a bench instead of playing.

Perfect deal would have been the sale with a season loan back

We won't have paid his full fee to Troyes and we will likely take a loan at 11% to cover the Spurs installments. Like we did with Chris Wood etc..

Good luck to the lad.

One thing this does highlight is that this lot seem to be able to work quietly away in the background, behind all the smoke, mirrors and noise of the transfer market, then come up with a complete surprise like this. Should we expect more of the unexpected? Nobody seemed to have the faintest clue about this. It makes all the speculation about the lad going to Ipswich a bit of a giggle.
I've never known a deal of this magnitude to have been done so quietly. But there was very little in advance of their Gray and Solanke deals this summer either.

Selling a player for £25m-£30m in a position where we have cover if it means that we can play harder ball or even refuse suitors for Berge / O'Shea also makes sense to me - if thats the case

And some are bemoaning not having him in the PL next year or the cost to replace him in the PL next year - we still have to get there yet....

Yeah but Benny could come off the bench. Would love to see one of his Benny specials in the top corner. Really like Zaroury though.

While possible, we havent done that with the Muric deal or Kompany commission.

By the last lot, I assume you mean Garlick and his board. They didn't take any money, they negotiated a price for their shares and sold them.
They didn't take the money, but they sold to a group who they knew would be taking the money to fund the deal.

We seemed to have a shed load of CH’s at one time and now we’re down to 3 fit ones ,similar with the wingers we’ve Koleosho ,Benny who may get sussed out this season and Zaroury who was pretty average on loan, that leaves an aging JBG and possibly Ronaldinho’s lad and Redmond who apparently is nowhere near ready to return.

Good news if true, as it would indicate better cash flow.

How long would it take for us to find out?

Clearly a shock for our fanbase, Takes a bit away of the excitement of looking forward to our first home game and beyond.

Addition concern is if Berge and O'Shea are sold in this window.

Don't want to be pessimistic but if above did happen could see us only achieving a play off place rather than automatic promotion.

But reality has bitten us, and in such a speedy and surprising execution.

It’s a good fee but hard to feel enthusiastic when the funds are repaying debt that the club didn’t have before this ownership.
Before this ownership our we were discussing the impacts of releasing Peter Crouch on a free and whether or not we'd be able to replace Nahki Wells.

If 37m euros plus a sell on fee is true, that’s a great price for us.
Another quote is £25million +£5 million add ons and 10% sell on clause

Surprising as the three lads who've been seen as possible departees are Trafford, O'Shea and Berge.

At least one player was always going to be sold. We have other wingers who I think can do the business this season.

This transfer doesn't leave me anywhere near as hurt as Ralph, Sir Dobbo, Taffy or more recently Tom or Nick.

But to me that's worse.

ALK are a business that have come in and taken an opportunity to make money, Garlick and the previous board were meant to be fans. That's probably a very naive outlook, but I really struggle with the concept of our club being milked to line the pockets of people. I see it as a community asset that owners are custodians of. Some will say they've got every right to make money and it will make them more motivated to do well but it doesn't, and will never, sit right with me until that debt is repaid. Burnley FC are paying loans back that paid for ALK shares. Just think of what the club could have done with that money!

I understand I'm in the minority these days and more and more people are coming around to Pace being a top notch guy because he walks round the fan zone before games and he commissioned two TV series so fans could see how much he cared, but I just don't buy it.

They did no different than any others such as Bob Lord who sold his shares. The difference is that the buyers didn’t use their own money to buy. If me or you had been buying the club then Garlick and his board would have made the same money.

If it’s been milked to line pockets then it’s not the previous directors.

A real shame after his performance at Luton when his work rate went up tenfold compared to last season. That, added to his quality, would have made him the league’s stand out player and helped massively in getting us promotion.

The fee sounds huge though so I’m finding it difficult to say we should have held on to him for that money.

The worst thing about player sales this summer though is that the money is going to be needed to pay off the debt and because we’ve got a such a bloated squad, there’s very little to get excited about regarding replacements because we’ll probably just go with what we’ve got.

A real downer before the home season starts tomorrow.

Garlick santioned the leveraged buy-out. After compromising the playing staff to maximise the club's bank balance and the amount of cash he would get when it sold.

Its feasible by the end of this window we could have sold Odobert, Berge, Amdouni, Trafford and O'Shea and recouped all the money we spent last summer and still have Koleosho, Ramsey and Beyer plus have a stronger and better squad then we did this time two years ago.

I guess this is the model they are after and if we get it right then although it still might take 1 or 2 more goes to get up and stay up, once we do we'll have a Premier League team packed with young talent that will only get better and improve the team further or go for some real big fee's like Brighton have gotten.

Obviously there is now a risk that Parker wont be able to spot some of the gems that Kompany spotted over the last two seasons but hopefully we have a good recruitment team and strategy outside of Kompany that Parker can tap into to continue the project successfully

Fabrizio Romano, who is one of the most reliable transfer journos, says £25m + £5m add-ons. The French sites are all putting the two together to come up with €37m (the exchange rate today would work out at more like €35m but whatever).

Exactly my take on this as well.

Fattened the cow and sold it.

Can't blame them but please don't try and sugar coat it.

Being a pessimist it only takes a couple of injuries ( and we all know how fragile Benson is) and we could be scratting around to have 2 available.

Thats the risk if it was donw to Kompany and his scouting team then we losing Kompany might be a massive blow to the project but if the scouting systems is still in tact then hopefully Parker can just tap in to it and Kompany wont be missed

True but doesn't mean by next year he could develop into a good Premier League player which is £15m we wont need to spend again and potentially a player who could become a real asset both on the pitch and potentially in the transfer market

We’ve always to sell players when we got relegated. First relegation under Dyche we lost Keane, Trippier and Ings. Then we lost Pope, Cornet, Collins and Dwight last time plus Tarky and Mee for nothing.

Re Odobert we might have had to sell not because we needed to, but because of a release clause which is becoming more common.
Release clause wouldn’t usually have add ons in the deal as suggested

Thats the risk if it was donw to Kompany and his scouting team then we losing Kompany might be a massive blow to the project but if the scouting systems is still in tact then hopefully Parker can just tap in to it and Kompany wont be missed

I plan to once it comes on IPTV but from yours and RVC's comments sounds like we are good and the project Kompany started and easily continue under Parker

Only for Clarets fans can taking an unknown 18 year old, getting 35 games and five goals out of him and selling him 12 months later for somewhere between £15-25mn profit be a bad thing.

To be fair, an awful lot of our signings will have thought of Vincent Kompany as a strong pull factor ..
If we've turned a £15m+ profit, then great !

By the last lot, I assume you mean Garlick and his board. They didn't take any money, they negotiated a price for their shares and sold them.
That is true in the strict sense but you know what he meant.
