Bloody scary
How good we are at this level when you consider we have
New manager
New tactics
New formation
New player's
Brilliant player's still to come into the team, we haven't clicked has a team yet and we're only firing on 70% cylinders, Bloody scary when it all comes together

Re: Bloody scary
Before getting too giddy just wait a couple of weeks and see how many of these players are still with us on September 1st. Then we'll have a much better picture (imo)

I am very impressed with how it's gone - there's much to admire. It's right to call out that we let Cardiff get on top of us in the first half and had they taken their chances things might look a bit different but if your auntie had wheels she'd be a bike wouldn't she?
We rode it out and took advantage of their profligacy, like all good teams do.
SP is still experimenting and the boys are learning about what the gaffer wants from them. Bodes very well for the future as I am not even sure we've 'clicked' yet.

Re: Bloody scary
2 games in against very different opposition. I'm keeping stum on my confidence until 5-8 games played and the transfer window has closed. And Rovers game is out of the way. Last week we had an arsenal, this week it's been slightly deflated. Sept 1st who knows?
From what I have seen so far, we have the attacking firepower to turn the screw and dismantle opposition with pace, aggression and a great finished product. Ultimately we don't know our team yet or what it will be like in a few weeks time. Nor our tactics Vs specific opposition (i.e. who park the bus and just want nick a winner on the counter)
Defence is still an area to improve on. At Luton we conceded to a simple enough goal and today for the opening 1/3 Cardiff were easily getting behind our lines. And they really should have been 1 or 2 goals for their effort and we didn't look like a team at all for that duration.
But I agree with you it's a very strong team for a club with new manager. Everyone has been given a second chance, especially the young lads who confidence must have been utterly destroyed after last season.

Re: Bloody scary
Cardiff put everything into that first half trying to get ahead. They were shot early in the second half. I can see that happening a few times this season. Also, does anyone else think the players may have been nervous due to the horrors of last season at home? We started, eventually, to relax.

Re: Bloody scary
At 1-0 or 1-1 (which imho they kinda deserved) at HT they would have been bouyed with that 2nd half could have been a lot different. At 2-0, plus a bollocking SP presumably gave at HT it was done and dusted by the 3rd and Cardiff had no response. Their confidence was shot to pieces, just like ours for the majority of last season.
Hence why I want to see a good few more games and make a clearer judgement on the otherside of the International break.

Re: Bloody scary
Cardiff were the better side first half, even though we went in 2-0 up, but their forum makes for some interesting if deluded reading.
“A really ordinary Burnley team”
“Burnley are nothing special”
LOL.
We’ll finish about 40 points ahead of them come the end of the season.

I'm very confident now that we've played two sides with completely different ambitions, Luton going for a swift return to the PL (like us), and Cardiff who'll do well to survive.
You've just got to enjoy these moments.
Yes, keeping current players is a challenge, but one that every club at our level faces.

Re: Bloody scary
Oh yeah didn't say I wasn't enjoying it. Today was a brilliant result and desperately needed after last season. But I'm not going OTT until we have a few more games under our belt and we can see the contributions of all team members. And that's not to mention injuries (Koleosho was a massive loss to us last season)
A few 1-0 last defeats against well defended counter attacking sides might bring a few fans back down to earth. Any team that plays us will be shown the first 1/3 of todays game of how our defence can be breached.

Re: Bloody scary
It's all good & well being bloody scary in this league but the bloody scariness also extends to how pathetic we are when we apply ourselves at the top level & for me that's how the cookie crumbles. Flogging off our best talent probably ensures a swift return instead of keeping for a season making a better fist & selling off at the highest premium.

I was bloody scared by the Cardiff performance in the first half and the performance by the referee was also bloody scary...
Re: Bloody scary
Winning 5-0 when nowhere near our best , seriously impressive.

Re: Bloody scary
Good start but let’s see how we go on in the next few games
Team spirit is back , Parker seems tactically superior to Kompany (Maybe)
We need to beat the Rovers then it will really feel good and we will be on for 120 points
