I’ve just been reading up on Mr Shouty - Dominic Walker - and he has quite the CV to be fair.

Bloody freeloaders!CaptainKirk wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 5:34 pmI have heard some ridiculous stories over the years of people getting freebies to matches because they are mates down the pub with people who used to know someone who used to play for the Club etc
Apparently, Gordon Hill, who played for Man Utd in the 70s is aggrieved because his freebies have been stopped 40 odd years after he played for the Club - and he didn't even use them but dished them out to mates.
Maybe, if there weren't so many freeloaders and their mates, they could keep the prices down!
I've had 3 complimentary season tickets, 2 free seasons in the hospitality boxes (one of which was the coyle promotion season) and complimentary executive tickets for the wembly final v Sheffield united... But apart from that ive had **** all! Oh and I once had to dress as stan the van man because the guy who was supposed to be doing it didn't turn up

Re: Ian Bannister
One thing they did get right yesterday was the half time interview with Frank Sinclair
They are now showing it on the screens from the corner of the pitch and not making them walk halfway across it before they start
Just a shame it seemed to be more focused on his achievements with Chelsea, Leicester & Jamaica than with us

It was me, and retirement is still 'on'. Yesterday was just part of the handover process to the new PA Announcer, you will be hearing a new voice on the Rovers game, I will be in the background.
Then from Portsmouth game I will be on JHU Block 4 watching a Burnley game with my wife for the first time since we stood on the Longside together in the late 1980's.
And it will be my first EVER game sat in the stands to watch a game at Turf Moor.

Re: Ian Bannister
Thanks Ian... Hope you have a happy retirement. From a selfish point of view I'm a bit gutted as it just won't feel right not hearing your voice on a match day

I have offered my services if they are ever stuck for someone to cover, so 'never say never' as the saying goes!Oldparkwood wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 8:04 pmThanks Ian... Re: Ian Bannister
Definitely no complimentary tkts/season tkts now not even for people that have done over 30yrs for the club, snd in full time employment. No loyalty at all from these Americans
Re: Ian Bannister
Ian, did you by any chance record the ground safety announcement that used to be played in the early 1990s before a game, that is still ingrained in my brain?!
“This is a ground safety announcement. In the event of evacuation of the whole or part of the ground becoming necessary, an announcement will be given on the public address system. Spectators are requested, in the interests of safety, to cooperate with the club stewards in keeping all gangways and exits clear. The exits are clearly marked in yellow. Your assistance in this matter would be appreciated”

Ha, can hear it in my head now! Presumably we don’t need telling these things these days.Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:22 pmIan, did you by any chance record the ground safety announcement that used to be played in the early 1990s before a game, that is still ingrained in my brain?!

Goodness me did you remember all that? I remember exactly how the first few words were said but definitely not all of it!Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:22 pmIan, did you by any chance record the ground safety announcement that used to be played in the early 1990s before a game, that is still ingrained in my brain?!

Re: Ian Bannister
Am I right in thinking this was the cue for the stewards to walk to the top of the stand and back down again, what was that all about?!

Re: Ian Bannister
Very similar for me. Started going on in 1992 with my dad. Still hear Ian's lineup involving Beresford, Pender, Randall, Joyce, Heath and many many others. Loved it in the Longside when Simply The Best came on as the players arrived. Really happy times (even though we were absolutely terrible)Awayfromburnley wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 12:03 pmHis voice reminds me of standing in the Longside with my Dad as an early teen.
Absolutely dire football but an assured and warming voice at halftime.
Whenever I hear Rob Orbison it reminds me of those early nineties matches and Ian's voice. We didn't seem to be blessed with too many song choices if I remember rightly.
