Post by bumba » Sun Aug 18, 2024 8:04 pm

Anybody else already starting to think and worry about it?
I've got to used to not losing to them would have preferred this game a few months down the line.

They're always my least anticipated games of the season having lived through not too recent drubbings and Dunn's big fat offside ass.

No worries at all. It’s a good time for them to play us tbh but we will finish above them regardless

Hate playing them, feel sick all week before hand, struggle to sleep the night before.

I'd back us every day of the week though, there's not one player I'd take of there's.

Always thinking about it! Hoping we have everyone fit and ready for it. I watched extended highlights of them at Norwich and they got caught playing out from the back a few times and we seemed to have the press spot on at Luton.
Also, with their big target man upfront there's a chance they play a high line which should work in our favour. Koleosho will be key as will Foster.
Imagine being in their shoes and seeing how we've started - they must be bricking it.

It's to our advantage they have started well. They might cross the half way line and have a go.

Then we will put 10 past them.

Not worried, but I think their starting, fully fit 11 is decent. I've also been impressed with the Japanese lad they've signed up top, he looks a player already at this early stage.

However, I'd rather be in our position, can see them scoring their first goal against us in years, but us winning the game again..

Whatever happens we won’t stuff them. The one thing Eustace has sorted out is their defence. They might struggle to score but the window hasn’t closed yet.

They’ve conceded twice in both games to opposition inferior to us. I’m not sure that is sorting the defence out tbh.

The best team that came down last season was us. Some bad luck, naivety and us finding form way too late were why we finished where we did.

I'm nervous too.

But think how their fans will be feeling having seen us score 9 in two games, conceding only once to promotion favourites Luton.

They play out from the back and are terrible at it, we should frighten then to death with our press and open them up on the counter

Like many of us, I’ve seen us lose plenty to that lot. You’re over it by the next match. Beating them in 2014 was amazing, embarrassing them last time at the Turf was hilarious. I’d love to do it again, but losing isn’t as bad as you imagine. Can’t think beyond Sunderland at the minute.

They don’t play out from the back under Eustace. He’s a far more pragmatic manager than Tomasson was.

And so his Parker ,he seems to employ tactics to beat each team we play not like the Egotistical one who hadn’t a plan B.

I’m not going to derail the thread into more tired Kompany chat, but the guy with no plan b achieved 101 points in this league.

Anyway, I think both current managers like to mix it up more. Should be a good game.

Go on then..... I'll jump in the keep net as well...

Promoted pub team and Stockport Under 23's.

Anyone with a right mind in their camp, fans included is sh!tt!ng it. It will be a battle, but I am quite confident we will prevail.

Just need those runs off Josh like for the 3rd yesterday, absolute pure class.

We have them all over the pitch, nowt to worry about.

They're bricking it playing us. I have a mate who's supports them and he said he'd be happy for a good performance and respectable scoreline, they all know how superior we are, even if they won't admit it.
BUT, it's a derby. Anything can happen. If we got a player sent off, or a bad ref it could go pear shaped.
Just got to press the hell out of them and not get sloppy.
After years of them lording it over us with walkers money, they need a good hiding off us at every opportunity

Eustace is a very good manager, I think he could be their Dyche over time.
He will come to the Turf and try nullify us and nick it like they did with Leeds last season.
I was confident after Luton but despite the 5-0 win Saturday the 1st half was poor and we could have been beaten against a better team. The next 3 games will be a good test especially with the window closing in between too

Might be a tad early in the season, but don't forget that we have home advantage.
They'll be dearly wishing it was at Deadwood first.

So we have to make that advantage count and
I think we will.

Not if you have to work over there. They won't let it go until we beat them. Had years of it in the past, or at least it felt like it. Mind you, we're just as good as giving it as well. All part of the banter. I do hate playing them, though. They are the most nervy games we play.

To be fair, they do look a bit more stable and less likely to be saddled with the past.
