Anymore on the potential winger if benson leaves? With them having recent championship experience I think could be Sarmiento from Brighton, he’s home grown to and just feels like an AlK signingLongsideClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 7:48 pmBerge to Fulham has moved quickly and should get done. Decent profit for Berge to be fair. He obviously didn’t want to drop to the championship again at his age. Shame though as he’s class. Odobert not even in the Spurs squad tonight! Don’t think Berge will have that problem.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Try telling that to Charlie Austin
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Work permit renewal delays for Odobert apparently.

After paying Sheff Utd a sell on fee there's not a lot of overall profit left to bring in a decent replacementbillyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 7:50 pmI'm hoping its 20 + 5 guaranteed plus add ons similar to the Odobert deal?
We shouldn't be accepting less than 25m guaranteed IMO

Work permit hasn’t come through for Odobert. I’m sure he’ll be in the matchday squad soon.

So you've found out the replacement in the last couple of hours? Is he currently at a Premier League or Championship club?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Ah fair one. Thought they said on Sky that he was eligible. Was looking forward to seeing him.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 7:57 pmWork permit hasn’t come through for Odobert. I’m sure he’ll be in the matchday squad soon.

Was it a major injury?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Wild stab at Philip Billing. Similar profile and worked with Parker at Bournemouth

Hannibal who had a loan at Birmingham. Asked to leave last week for first team football. Not a clue if it is him like.

Yes.
Premier League.
I’ve watched us play against him before and always thought he looked excellent. Might I say a younger, more energetic Sander when I’ve seen him play. I am quite excited about that one, good business.

Must be on my own with this one but I really cant understand the hype with Massengo, I've seen every minute he's played for us and nothing has jumped out at me.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 7:49 pmJust been listening to Sundays FTBHE Podcast.
They were talking about Massengo being a natural replacement. I think he could, he's definitely too good to be ignored, and if Berge stays unlikely to improve while sat on the bench. A season in the championship and we could be saying Sander who?
Tongue in cheek, but after all his experience at Bristol, this is his time.
I'd still hold out for 30 mill for Berge. 20 plus 5 for add ons, could end up being 20. That would be a massive waste of money.
He might well be great but I just don't know what this is being based on so far?

This makes sense to me. Only 21.
Definitely leaving Manure this summer. Played at this level.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Lots of footballers play for years with pretty significant injuries that even prevent them training. Ledley King did.
It’s up to the buying club whether they want to take the risk.
Back to the original point. It’s perfectly possible they Berge passes a medical tomorrow with his minor injury, because Fulham won’t be overly concerned about it biting them on the arse after they’ve forked out £20m+ for him.
I suspect you know all this tho.

I'll be gutted to see Berge leave, especially for anything less than £30m.
He is Premier League class.

Re: Summer 2024 Transferif Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We definitely need a decent replacement in CM for Berge. Don’t mind Trafford or Weghorst being sold but if we sell others that are currently in the team the board are just looking at cash with scant regard for the team. Still think they are a bit naive when comes to what happens on the pitch. The first two results might not have helped in this and lulled them into a false sense of security.

Massengo looks liKe a natural replacement for Brownhill to me more than anything when that time comes. He’s an engine and a ball winner.

Hannibal is very feisty . I’m not entirely sure what his game is, the main focus on him when I’ve seen him is trying not to be sent off

I often wonder whether Breyer could step up to midfield or just in front of a back four..

Expecting quite a bit of activity to happen this week. In both directions.
Chelsea lad is a done deal. Another centre half with experience (good at this level) is lined up in case O’Shea goes. McNally will go before the end of the window.
Expect Wout and Anass out imminently.
CM/AM and a winger lined up from the prem. Both young, one played champ last season, the other the season before.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Honestly, I'm not that fussed about Berge going.
He's a very gifted footballer and has brilliant moments but for me lacks consistency and bar the Fulham game away I can't recall many games where I thought he put in a solid 90-minute performance.
His good moments are brilliant and he could do things that no one else in the team could do but for me too often was caught dwelling on the ball or switched off and lost his man/didn't track a runner. Also didn't score enough imo for a midfielder and i'm not sure if he's the type of midfielder that would do his best work in a Scott Parker system. Always thought he'd be better in a 4-3-3 with more of a license to get forward.
Of course I wish him all the very best.
Time for Massengo (who I've been mightily impressed with) to step up when counted!
