JBG move is very odd and disappointing. I hope we're getting a reasonable bit of money for him, obviously won't be huge.

Just a shame the interest didn’t come before he re-signed.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
A really disappointing last few hours of news. A very risky strategy selling so many. Only so many times you can pull a team apart before it goes wrong. Would hope we only look to sell some fringe players now!

Can't really blame JBG at his age. A 2 or 3 year deal to see out his career and earn silly money.

Take Gudmundsson, Benson, Zaroury, Berge, McNally, Weghorst (and probably Trafford, possibly O’Shea) out of this squad and it doesn’t look anywhere near as strong, partly due to injuries yes, but our main strength was our depth. With the likes of Tresor being a total question mark, Redmond, Al-Dakhil, Beyer, Ramsey and Ekdal being who knows how long off a return, the immediate squad is suddenly not particularly deep at all.
Amazing how quickly things can change. I was hopeful on Berge after bringing in £60m+, gutted he’s going - but assumed that would be that. To hear all of this too, mental. JBG probably pushing for that move due to his age but what a loss he is in my opinion.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
There's a lot of panic on here tonight, but on the bright side, we needed to and were always going to sell players (we all knew that). We are also selling players who have had little to no game time in the 2 games we have played so far (except Odobert) and we won both games by a big margin.
We will bring some players in, so I believe we will still going to be in a strong position at the end of the window.

Bed wetting going on here. We were always gonna lose players. Granted JBG a bit odd but hey ho, frees up space to bring more in. I’m sure there will be 1 or 2 big signings, no way we going into the 1st sept with only 3 centre mids.

Because Parker is trying to build a promotion squad and personnel changing significantly in a short period of time isn’t ideal.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 9:10 pmWhy? We will likely get a fee for him now instead of leaving on a free.

I know this is the clubs model
But it’s so difficult to connect with players with this level of turnover.
At some point they are going to have to address the model, because when going gets tough the atmosphere will suffer the quickest

Really hope Amdouni isn’t added to this list of outgoings. Yes, poor in the PL, but we saw what he was capable of at this level on Saturday. The one big plus to Berge going is that the question mark of how you get Berge and Amdouni into the same side is no longer there.
He simply has to play every game in front of Cullen and Brownhill, behind Foster.

It wouldn’t be the model if we stayed up to be fair. Think they are just having to undone a bit of a mess Kompany had left.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 9:38 pmI know this is the clubs model

I got grief last week after saying we could be running short on wingers (hate to say I told you so ) but apart from Odebert we could lose Zaroury ,Benson ,JBG and Vitinho.

I appreciate in the short term there’s going to be a fair bit of movement given the issues around VK.
I was hoping a few of the familiar faces would be staying. Unless JBG is pushing really hard for this transfer I find it a really strange one for the club from a PR point of view. He’s one the club know fans are on board with.
I just hope next season we try retain and build.

Yeah I definitely get that and I will be gutted to lose JBG as he has been an unreal player for us over the years, but I am sure Parker was well aware that we were going to be losing quite few players before the window shuts, given we have 30 or so players.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 9:34 pmBecause Parker is trying to build a promotion squad and personnel changing significantly in a short period of time isn’t ideal.
I'd rather get the ones who are going to leave gone now. Then we can focus on the squad that are left and hopefully we free up enough money to get some decent replacements in.
