At the end of the day, JBG was only a sub, at his age and if we do get a fee, it's good business

Played at FC Midtjylland whilst Henrik Jensen was there.
Looks like Jensen was his manager in the under 19's and assistant manager when he was promoted to the first team squad.

Because he believed it at the time and things can quickly change in football, such as getting on offer that he can't refuse at his age.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 9:50 pmWhy do people take the slightest belief in the content of these interviews?

With Berge and JBG leaving we do need to bring in 2 central players

Assume that Lyle might know Madsen a little bit too - together at Westerlo for 6 months before he signed for us in the Jan

I can now see why Kompany went nuts at JBG.
Seems like another Jelle Vossen where he has used the club to get a move. There is no way this just sprung up overnight.
JBG could have become a club legend this season, but he leaves as a pathetic weasel.

He will be a bit part player at most with usNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 9:44 pmI appreciate in the short term there’s going to be a fair bit of movement given the issues around VK.
I was hoping a few of the familiar faces would be staying. Unless JBG is pushing really hard for this transfer I find it a really strange one for the club from a PR point of view. He’s one the club know fans are on board with.
I just hope next season we try retain and build.
Injury prone
Yeah I get that fans have an attachment to him after being here so long, but if he wants to go, then whether or not we get a fee I’d let him go and free up the spot for another young lad

If Fulham are getting Berge for 20 +5 what lowball offer were United trying to get him for.

Bit naughty of Sacha claiming an exclusive. Icelandic media had the story a good while earlier:
https://www.dv.is/433/2024/08/19/johann ... stu-dogum/
“According to very reliable sources from 433.is, Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson has arrived in Saudi Arabia and will sign a contract with Al-Orobah FC in that country.
Jóhann Berg joins the team from Burnley, but he scored one goal in the team's 5-0 victory over Cardiff last weekend.
According to 433.is sources, Jóhann flew to Saudi Arabia today and is finalizing his affairs.
The Super League in Saudi Arabia starts this weekend and Jóhann and his teammates will face Al-Ahli, but according to 433.is sources, Jóhann should be legal in that game.
Al-Orobah are newcomers to the Premier League in Saudi Arabia, but the team includes former Newcastle defender Vurnon Anita and other teams.
According to the sources of 433.is, the guardians of Al-Orobah have put a lot of emphasis on getting Jóhann.
Jóhann was going to leave Burnley this summer, but finally signed a new contract with the club in July, but now it is clear that his more than eight-year stay at Burnley is over.
Jóhann is 33 years old and has played for AZ Alkmaar, Charlton and Burnley in his professional career. He will be the first Icelandic man to play in Saudi Arabia, while Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir signed there recently.
There has been a big rise in football in Saudi Arabia in the last year and a lot of money has been available for players who play there”.

How could he turn down a Saudi move at this stage of what has been an injury impeded career?
Good luck to him

No way
As long as we keep Odobert and JBG I think we’ll be fine.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
You can't blame him. He only has a 12 month contract here and might not get another one. This will probably be a brilliant financial move for him and also something different that he might regret later on if he doesn't go.

Sounds like 3 players left the training ground for the last time today, Berge, JBG and another. Off to Germany, not featured this season yet, good fee and a tidy profit.
