Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Just been reading a few bits about Worrell.
Got in the champ team of the season when promoted with Forest, captained them and played majority of games the foest season in the prem (staying up).
At Besiktas played 6 times and was steady enough . Couple of fans thought he was better than their starters but the club didnt want to sign him long term so he ended up being a bit part squad filler.
I don’t want to lose Dara but ill be content if we get an experienced leader at a good age (like Worrall is) to replace him.

mirror reporting that we are after £15mil for o'shea
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
This is an ideal situation for me, maybe apart from loaning Beyer out.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 11:39 amHopefully speculation about O Shea going, will not happen. Would mean Oshea and Esteve as our starting two, Worrall as stand in if injuries, Humphreys battling with Worrall for this, but he provides cover in both full back positions too, which is great as Vitinho is at his best wide midfield. Means McNally and Al Dakhill can go, and hopefully Decroix too (but may be hard if injured). I think if Beyer ever gets fit then a loan out in Jan for game time. If someone did come in for silly money for O Shea then we have good cover in Worrall, but Esteve going too is absolutely crazy.

Over a hundred pages of waffle where every man and his dog has an opinion about every player (past, present and perhaps future) and all get it completely wrong - again. You have to laugh.
Still, a part of me thinks I am missing out so:
My mate down the pub heard from someone in the Ticket Office that we are in for Pope to replace Trafford.
Benson is going to Southport and Brett Ormerod is coming in as cover.
Kai Rooney is coming on a trial.
We are signing Ronaldinho's son .......nah, getting silly now.
Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Haven't seen much chatter recently on Oshea leaving, is this a real possibility? I really hope not.
I think 5 CBs of Steeeve, Oshea, Worrall, Humphreys and Jordan is pretty outstanding. If we can sell all of the others for a reasonable amount it looks good business.

Looks like we are looking for £15m to sell O Shea, as several clubs have enquired. If he goes to Wolves or Brentford , its a high price for these two clubs for a back up, and he definitely would not be starting for a while. Ben Mee was a sub on Sunday and I think O Shea would be behind him in the pecking order. On Sunday Craig Dawson was a sub for Wolves-again O Shea would be behind Dawson who played almost every game for them last season.
Having watched all the PL games last week both clubs will be under the cosh defensively.. O Shea will strongly benefit with another season in the Championship, as I fear he will be badly exposed at this stage of his career if he moves. Any mistakes he made with us last year were almost acceptable as we were an absolutely dire team, but with these two clubs it would be different

I would expect we value Steve at £30m+. I can't see him going for less.

Bristol City want McNally. £2m but we want £3m - Nixon

Just plain bonkers to sell O’Shea for a reported £15m less the sell-on fee.
Far more valuable to Burnley as a leader on the pitch and to try and secure a return to the PL where he will again have a part to play.

Perfect replacement for DOS.
Leadership
Experience
Aeriel ability
Promoted from Champ
Captain material
With the introduction of Humphries we are also much more balanced as a squad with another left sided centre half/left back.
The fee doesn't unduly surprise/worry me tbh, essentially its a swap out of AAD for £10m plus and Humphries comes in to replace as a left sided defender to balance the squad.
DOS improved dramatically when he had Esteve next to him.
Two right sided centre halves messed us up big style last season and it is obviously a signing/sale to rectify that issue if Esteve was injured.
The bonus with Humphries is that he is capable of playing acroos the whole back four.
Very savvy signings IMO

Worral is a proven leader on the pitch. Sean tried to sign him multiple times when we were in the Premier league. I've come to trust Sean's judgement when it comes to defenders.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 12:01 pmJust plain bonkers to sell O’Shea for a reported £15m less the sell-on fee.

We just need the 4 centre backs, Beyer can go if he ever regains fitness. Our 4 centre backs are in the building now. Just need to kidnap Dara and Steve until the end of the month.

Totally agree and with Delacroix injured makes sense to bring a left sided centre half in,Esteve going nowhere and we finally look like we are creating a balance, which Kompany neglectedSteddyman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 11:16 amWhy are people losing there **** over Esteve leaving where there has not been a single comment from someone with connections to suggest he is?
We will be losing Al Dakhil and O'Shea, and getting two defenders in.
I'm actually encouraged by the fact that unlike last season in the Championship, we are signing players with Premier League experience.

At least Dara has performed adequately at PL level which is why several other PL clubs want his services.

Not sure I'd describe 9 first team CBs as being balanced but appreciate there will be outgoings and we have no real idea on the fitness of at least 4 of the 9.

We are in the championship lets worry about that first.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 12:07 pmAnother Championship level player that will be found wanting in the PL if we go up this season.
At least Dara has performed adequately at PL level which is why several other PL clubs want his services.
Secondly (and i Like Dara and didnt think he was as bad as made out early in the season) Worrall has played regualarly in a team which stayed in the prem, Dara didn’t.
Thirdly Worrall had plenty of suiters a few years ago too (including Dyche & premier league Burnley). He chose not to leave his boyhood club.
If Dara goes (i hope he doesn’t but its out of our control) we need to replace him. We arent going to be able to get a solid experienced week in week out premier league replacement for him. Its just not going to happen, we are in the championship.

Sacha Tavolieri:

EXCL. Anass Zaroury will sign at #RCLens !
Agreement reached for a dry transfer at € 9M (bonus included) + 20% on the capital gain.
Zaroury will sign a 4-year contract with the Sangs&Or.
The Atlas Lion is already in Lens and underwent the first part of his medical examination this afternoon.
