Have I missed it, or have things gone quiet on the Sander Berg to Fulham story ?

Latest - Ralph Coates to Spurs,Willie Morgan to Man Utd
I hope you're joking, otherwise AGENT_CLARET will go mental... He's of the opinion that the Club's 'Legends' should get contracts forever and a day, I'm terrified that he'll find out we've no longer got Robbie Blake on the books.

It would appear that there seems to be a preference for more British players coming in, has the project changed or did the phrase "we need men" as said in Mission to Burnley gain more approval, is it Parkers choice as he prefers British players or at least wants a good nucleus of them for team spirit.
I would imagine it's more to do with having to have 7 homegrown players in the matchday squad. No point having a huge number of overseas players and then not being able to utlise them.

The ONLY things I've seen are we are in for him as are Leeds and nobody is close, that's with the caveat of I get virtually zero info. Just repeating what's been reported.

🔴🆕 VfB Stuttgart in concrete talks about a deal of Ameen Al-Dakhil ✔️

Personal terms not an issue after very good talks with the player. 22 y/o central defender Al-Dakhil very open to join Stuttgart.

VfB already in concrete talks with FC Burnley. VfB exploring more options after the decision to leave the negotiations for Sepp van den Berg (Plan A). But Al-Dakhil, a concrete option now.

Medical would be crucial in this deal after a long injury. VfL Wolfsburg and FC Sevilla, also there.

I think it's more likely to cover O'Shea, Al Dakhil, and McNally plus Humpries can cover LB as back up to Pires

If we are linked to another CB, then I would be worried about Esteve

I wonder what Scott Parker thinks the squad needs? An experienced Championship leader at the back? He clearly will be having daily conversations on how to trim the squad whilst balancing it with what we can tempt in. So far I am happy to admit I think we are doing sound business in this window.

Really don’t understand letting AAD go. Proven in the championship, has as high a ceiling as any of our CB’s.

I think he’s started 8 games in two years.

He’s not gonna start any time soon for us so I guess it’s just the right time to move him on

He only played 8 Championship matches. He showed good signs but that's all. I don't know what Parker has seen of him. It may simply be the reducing of the squad size.

If benson and zaroury are moving on immediately then we have to get a winger in before Fridays matchday squad deadline, we can’t go to Sunderland away with just Vitinho koleosho and ageyi as our wide options

Pretty much what I thought from watching him.

Thing with AAD is that he is fast, ditto O’Shea. Seems we’re sacrificing pace in the back line (don’t khow fast Humphreys is) and I’m not sure that is good if we return to the Premier League.

Hopefully his experience will be useful for us this season though.
Pace is good in any division. Think of the effect of Koleosho and Odobert at Luton, and we've already lost Odobert.

For defence we played a high line against Cardiff - and were caught out once or twice. If Worral is not as fast as O'Shea it would surely mean a change of tactics.

Proven is a stretch. He came into the team when we were absolutely dominating teams. I’d have looked half decent in that back line and I’m an asthmatic pushing 40!

We need experience. We need leadership. Young inexperienced defenders are ok but in heat battle. Give me a Worrall type character any day.

The only trouble with going back to slow experienced defenders is they have to defend deep to not get caught out.
Which then means too big a space between midfield and defence.

I'm not sure how slow Worrall is, just going off other posts on here.

Same. Someone alluded to it earlier, I forget who sorry, but if we're going to consistently be in a state of flux with many incomings and outgoings I think it's important to to have a core group of players that are considered medium to long termers who will understand, share and enforce the culture, playing ethos. and provide some continuity.

The last time we were down here it was Jay, Browny, Cork, Taylor, JBG and Barnsey.

Going forwards It'll be the likes of him and Cullen and maybe one or two others - the rest won't be with us beyond this season.

So who are the 5?

Is it:-

O'Shea/Worrall
Esteve (fending off suitors an issue)
Cullen
Brownhill (contract an issue)
Foster (suspect same as Esteve if he keeps playing like at Luton)

I've not included Kolo because he won't be here in 12 months.

We aren’t a premier league team anymore, just because Forest decided to drop him last season doesn’t mean he can’t be a premier league defender again.

I’d be much more confident going into a prem match with worrall than I would with al-dakhil

No, I realise that, that’s why I said if he’s one of our five I don’t think many of the 5 years will be spent in the premier league.

I don’t think he’s a premier league player, I didn’t think he was when we were linked under Dyche and I think his stint at that level at Forest proves that.

Imagine he’ll be useful in this division.

On your point about Al Dakhil, I agree today but I think his ceiling is higher in that he has the attributes to be with some bulking up and experience. I don’t think Worrall is or will ever be a premier league CB.

But I am also assuming Worrall is O’Shea’s replacement, who definitely is or he wouldn’t have multiple premier league clubs chasing him, so whichever way you look at it, a significant weakening of defence.

People are only saying this on O’Shea since the season has started, it was only Everton away when he got sent off that people never wanted to see O’Shea again

Leeds spending 10m on a winger. Norwich spending 8.5m on a winger/striker. Yet here we with Mikey Johnston and Jaidon Anthony as options. Do we think we’ll make an attempt at making a marquee type signing or are they going to keep looking at the 2-4m deals?

We aren’t a premier league team anymore, just because Forest decided to drop him last season doesn’t mean he can’t be a premier league defender again.

I’d be much more confident going into a prem match with worrall than I would with al-dakhil
Most are assuming that Worral is going to be the replacement for Dara O’Shea.
Swapping a Premiership level defender with leadership qualities with a Championship level defender with leadership qualities. Oh, plus a few £million to reduce the debt burden.

They are looking at good players with possible profit.

We’ve just spent £12m on a Chelsea player?

People are only saying this on O’Shea since the season has started, it was only Everton away when he got sent off that people never wanted to see O’Shea again
What fans said about O’Shea is not relevant at all though, is it? What’s relevant is that O’Shea has multiple premier league clubs after him = premier league player.

Worrall has not played for Forest in a good while and has no premier league clubs looking to sign him because he isn’t.

I’ve never said he’s a bad player. He’ll be perfectly fine in the championship but if he’s one of the core 5 it’ll be hard graft staying up in the premier league for long.

It’s a loan with an option to buy?

Il be surprised if we don’t make at least one marquee signing before the window closes
