This should be a basic more people realise. Each transfer is formed of a number of variables unique to that situation. Comparing transfers means very little and ignores all the nuances.
You can’t post on social media with ‘common sense’ like the above! 😉

VERY highly thought of up there, but never quite made the breakthrough. Rogers said he was the most talented player he's ever seen come through their academy. Quite promising signs.
“Never quite made the breakthrough”…….in Scotland. Great.

I thought this Humphries guy is OOC next summer so can’t get why we need to buy at all
It's likely that Chelsea would not have leant him to us without a deal to buy surely.

Really hope we can keep hold of zeki with all these out goings. He could be key this season. Genuinely think he could be a star for us.

Anyone found tresor yet?
Hope not

Interesting stat from a forest fan, forest have a better points per game in the premier league with worrall in the team than they do with felipe, niakhate and murillo who were their first choice cbs last season
Forest in the Prem 2022-23 38 pts 68 goals conceded (scoring 38). Worral played 30 (scoring 1 goal).
2023-24 36 pts (excluding 4 point deduction) 67 goals conceded. They scored 49. Played 7.

Sunderland have been knocking back bids for Clarke for a few transfer windows. I wonder how long he’ll put up with that.
I don't like Jack Clarke, principally because of his cheating. However last season he scored 15 goals, his best ever, so I can see why he is considered a good player.

Yes it was clearly lacking in leadership qualities.

How can anyone watch us last season and think otherwise. Especially after watching the documentary. I think there were only two players that showed any kind of leadership and that was foster and Cullen
I thought O'Shea showed leadership at times on the pitch (i don't recall any in the Mission to Burnley shows though). Most memorable was him having a go at Assignon at Spurs after his dive.

Nobody knows the truth of Tresor's situation apart from himself and the club, and neither want to talk about it.
You can read into that what you want, and most people on this board have, but if it turns out he has had issues of mental health, then some of the comments on here are embarrassing.
It's frustrating, I get that, and you may be right. But until the light is turned on just leave the lad alone. It doesn't help him, the club or us.

Ahmedhodzic (Sheffield United) in advanced talks with Ipswich. Sepp van Der Berg joining Brentford.

You'd imagine Wolves are the only ones interested in O'Shea.

I would love Jack Clarke at Burnley (not happening, I know). He’s miles better than any of our wingers. I said something similar 12 months ago and got laughed at by some on here saying Zaroury was a much better player….

I certainly don't like the idea of us having to sit deeper because our defenders aren't quick enough. So we need someone quick to be alongside Worrall.

1st paragraph, fair enough.
3rd paragraph, I agree.
2nd paragraph…nothing for anyone to be embarrassed about really, people can’t pussyfoot around every single situation because someone “might” have a mental health issue. If it comes out that’s the issue, then of course people should cut him some slack, maybe even apologise and sympathise, but people are having a pop because his performances were considerably below what were expected, his effort levels and attitude looked suspect and he’s rightly being chided for not turning back up, and they are doing that assuming there’s no issue with his health, and that’s fair enough at this stage imho.

Have I missed anything?

On the way out:

McNally - Bristol offered 2m we want 3m.
Berge - deal finalised but not yet announced for 20m+5m with Fulham
Al Dakill - advanced talks with Stuttgart
Zaroury - Apparently 7.6m pounds was talked about but Lens are saying the fee is less than half
Benson - half the championship seem to be keen to sign him, presumably at 27 the board have decided they need to cash in.
JBG - move to Al-Orobah is only waiting for the approval of the Saudi Pro League recruitment committee to officially complete the deal
O'Shea - Brentford and Wolves were both interested. Brentford may have moved on.

Possible incoming:
Worrall - plenty of reports about him having a medical.
Mikey Johnston - links to the Celtic and ROI player (who's not homegrown) but may or may not be having a medical.

Not forgetting that we've announced the signing of Bashir Humphreys.

No more news on Trafford who looks less likely to move to Newcastle.

People will disagree but to get best part of 40m + add ons for Odobert and zaroury and potentially bringing in Johnston and Sarmiento is very good business.

Koleosho played on the right against legenes and cadiz and against Cadiz he looked more dangerous than he has from the left so far

Odobert is levels above both. Johnston and Sarmiento fine for this year but not good enough if we go up. I guess that’s where we are at and it’ll be another rebuild next season.

Think it’s reasonable as a fan to question why a player ( including Tresor) hasn’t shown up to training or isn’t playing on a football message board when the club are paying obscene amounts of money to them in wages. Some players do have bad attitudes or spit the dummy out which might or might not be the case here. It may just be an injury. As we don’t know don’t just put it under a ‘mental health’ banner. This isn’t helpful either. if fans had seen more enthusiasm, effort and talent on the pitch to date it might be questioned less.

I give up

We are going to be looked at by clubs as someone they think they can pick over the corpse of.

They know about our accounts
They know about our bloated squad
They know about the PL sized hole in our income.

All that squared means no-one will offer us 25m for Odobert (in this window).

If Odobert, Muric and Berge move on this season, and the sum total is worth at least 50m (before add-ons) I will donate 50 quid to the clarets trust.

That’s a reason Odobert cost 30m but we aren’t going to replace like for like in the championship, if we got Sarmiento in for example he is 22, what’s to say he doesn’t have a breakout season and transfer the form into the premier league.

Many players have stages were they stall and then suddenly they move to a club and it clicks

Worrall’s last PL 90 minutes was against us in that game last year in which we were robbed. He did have a few at Besiktas so hasn’t been totally starved of football.

We cannot underestimate the leadership element. Berge, who I think is great, seems a quiet guy. Shipping out a few of those and replacing them with leaders may really help in tough times. O’Shea has some leadership qualities, granted. But as a rule the ones we are bringing in will add more in this department.

If O’Shea doesn’t go, I don’t think Worrall will be pleased at sitting on the bench.

Just been reading a Celtic forum about MJ. To say they’re not fans would be very kind. They are gagging for someone to take him off their hands. They claim he is relentlessly injury prone, has no footballing intelligence whatsoever and a terrible first touch. Also appears to be a lover of Andrew Tate, which whilst utterly irrelevant to his footballing ability would put me off just about anyone.

Yet…..! I then watch the customary YouTube reel of his time at West Brom and he looks fantastic. Sometimes players just need a new club.

Celtic colleague I’ve just messaged:

“Done really well for West Brom, but he’s never really had a sustained run for us. Very talented and skilful, but a bit lightweight and sometimes no end product. He’s also injury prone”.

His stats at WBA would suggest some end product tho and their fans seem to love him.

I totally hear you on this. It's very difficult to separate the player and the person. He was so highly regarded in Scotland for years, but has never made it, which makes you think he's a bit of a nob. Now you tell me he's a follower of that vile creature, it explains A LOT!

Almost sounds like we're just doing other clubs' scouting for them. As soon as we go for a player teams like Leeds and SU also are suddenly interested.

Imagine disliking a person because of that persons interests. Bizarre.

How come Dirty Leeds with unpaid transfer monies of £190m haven't had a transfer incoming embargo slapped on them?
They didn't owe it all this season and they've sold about 100 million quid's worth of players?

Why would it be right to chide (never heard that word before but have assumed it means criticise) someone if he is doing what the Club have told him to do or have agreed on?

Celtic colleague I’ve just messaged:

“Done really well for West Brom, but he’s never really had a sustained run for us. Very talented and skilful, but a bit lightweight and sometimes no end product. He’s also injury prone”.

His stats at WBA would suggest some end product tho and their fans seem to love him.
that mirrors almost word for word what my Celtic supporting work colleague has just said too - he also mentioned the end product being a flaw

Johnston did well for West Brom but is very much a one trick pony. I’d agree with the lightweight comments. Touch underwhelmed with some of these targets but oh well. Any chance of a left footed right winger or just a right winger being linked?

Reckon Parker sees Koleosho playing there.

Not at championship level, he got 7 goal's and 2 assists in 20 game's, almost one every other game

Odobert is levels above both. Johnston and Sarmiento fine for this year but not good enough if we go up. I guess that’s where we are at and it’ll be another rebuild next season.
That’s the most frustrating thing for me this window. Doesn’t feel like any of these players can really be considered potential premier league players in future (I would exclude Hountondji & Hannibal from that list - have been impressed with the former and feel the latter could play in the premier league).

I’d honestly have rather we stuck by our fringe players like McNally, AAD, Anass and Benson (assuming he goes) and give them playing time than turf them out and replace with no better.

Only thing I can imagine is that the price difference is driving the sales as we need the thin profit off them/loan now pay later cash benefit, which is pretty worrying in its own right.

Hoping there are actually other deals being explored that we’re not aware of yet.
