No way we sign Worrall unless O’Shea is definitely off.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
It's some years since Dyche was linked with him but I reckon a good, solid defensive signing for us.

Assuming O Shea is on his way
But Worrall signing made my day
Don’t know what we paid for him
It matters not cos we got him in

Happy with this, good solid leader with years of experience at this level and above. Dara is obviously next out the door so this makes total sense and I believe will allow Esteve to progress even more. Welcome Joe

In my view, this has to be a Parker signing rather than a Pace signing so to speak.
He should bring stability rather than potential to the team which is a good thing imo.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
At last a signing that makes sense for the task that lays ahead. Somebody likely to naturally give all with a point to prove & should have good experience from his forest days.
Clarets sign Joe Worrell
While Worrell isn’t an ace signing but with over 200 games behind him and NF captain for two seasons he should hopefully give us experience and organisation at the back and also an experienced voice on the pitch if he plays regularly. It now seems we will lose O’Shea !

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
What Nottingham Forest have had to say and the piece includes a remarkable stat that they’ve had a player who has come through the youth team in every match day squad since 1941.

Great signing.
Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Totally agree, although I think as MTB2 showed, Pace has been made aware of having a stable core of "Men", Cullen, Worrall, (and Jay to some extent) should make sure standards are maintained and allow the young profit makers to flourish.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:53 pmIn my view, this has to be a Parker signing rather than a Pace signing so to speak.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Downgrade on O’Shea obv and bit worrying that Wolves might not actually buy O’Shea now at the price we want, yet they know we need to sell him, so prob we lose out on holding firm on our price.
Seems a top lad on the interview and like Humphreys, just glad we’ve got some good characters in and hopefully a few out who ‘don’t want to be here’.

Downgrade on O'Shea? Really? How have you come to that conclusion?RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:07 pmDowngrade on O’Shea obv and bit worrying that Wolves might not actually buy O’Shea now at the price we want, yet they know we need to sell him, so prob we lose out on holding firm on our price.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Excellent signing for me. The reality is we are currently in the Championship and Worrell is a proven top player at this level. I sometimes wish others would step back for a minute and forget about the 'ifs' and 'buts' because it does them no good.
Good luck to our new signing, already proven to be a loyal player to the football club who pay his wages.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
It's only a downgrade if you look at it that way. There's no reason why he can't come in & do a similar job if not better. Clubs might want oshea it's only because it's in the recent memory he was a PL defender & stood out amongst a bad bunch. Side by side there isn't much difference apart from a few years.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:07 pmDowngrade on O’Shea obv and bit worrying that Wolves might not actually buy O’Shea now at the price we want, yet they know we need to sell him, so prob we lose out on holding firm on our price.

As I said the other day, this is a cracking signing and probably a player we need more than the one he’s replacing in our current situation.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
And where have you watched Worrall? 3 premier league clubs after Dara? Really? One maybe two. It's paper talk. Watching Dara last season I felt he was not up to Premier League standard in particular his reading of opponents movement and positioning. Granted he will have learnt from that. And of course playing in a pretty awful team wouldn’t have helped.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Solid signing, obviously elite in this division. With Humphreys signing too you'd think the o shea deal was all but done. As long as we get that 15 million I don't think we've done badly there. Al Dahkil and at least one more CB will probably follow.
Made my peace with o shea leaving now I'm worried about Amdouni
If Weghorst leaves too I'd say we need a quality striker in for sure and not much time left. Amdouni gets 20+ this year for me, even not starting all the time.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Nice to see a little more appreciation put into a leaving message. Some of our, apparently, copy and paste efforts, are a tad poor, particularly for some of the longer serving players.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:58 pmWhat Nottingham Forest have had to say and the piece includes a remarkable stat that they’ve had a player who has come through the youth team in every match day squad since 1941.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Just what we’ve lacked for sometime, a verbal leader, he’ll be captain I would imagine in due course. Not the quickest but he’ll make up for that in other areas.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Couldn't disagree more with the first part of this !, O'Shea will be gone in a matter of days be it to Wolves, Brentford or another I'd expect. But again at another profit to the club, I can definitely see Joe being a massive influence on Esteve and in turn help his development further this making the club another good profit when the time comes.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:07 pmDowngrade on O’Shea obv and bit worrying that Wolves might not actually buy O’Shea now at the price we want, yet they know we need to sell him, so prob we lose out on holding firm on our price.

Doubt he’ll be going to Brentford. They’ve signed Sepp van den Berg today.louieollie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:58 pmCouldn't disagree more with the first part of this !, O'Shea will be gone in a matter of days be it to Wolves, Brentford or another I'd expect. Just to throw in something crazy here, maybe the deal is already done for O’Shea and that’s why this announcement was made late evening?RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:07 pmDowngrade on O’Shea obv and bit worrying that Wolves might not actually buy O’Shea now at the price we want, yet they know we need to sell him, so prob we lose out on holding firm on our price.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
May well turn out to be our best signing of the summer.
We still have a young and relatively inexperienced squad, players like Worral are the type who'll dig us out of the mire when the going gets tough. Too often last season we folded when we were up against it, he'll also be the perfect partner for the likes of Esteve and Beyer (assuming O'Shea leaves).

He's been around the block, knows how to buy a free kick etc. On the assumption he is the O'Shea replacement he is a good choice, if he was quicker then Forest wouldn't be selling himGoody1975 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 10:50 pmMay well turn out to be our best signing of the summer.

Re: ARTICLE:Worrall becomes a Claret
Delighted with this signing. It is wrong to call him Mee Mark 2, as he doesn’t have the City background, but he does have many similarities, ones we missed last season.
O’Shea I like. But what are his leadership qualities? Unknown. Yes DOS has drive, and is a good lad, but to be captain material you need to be able to bring everyone with you, maybe he does and maybe he does not, but Worrall does. Also, organisational abilities. We were too open last season. Some of that has to land on DOS.
I’m now happy if DOS goes, if that enables us to keep one other top player, an Esteve or an Amdouni. Very happy with the dealings so far, and by extension, happy with Parker.
