Very poor in my opinion. What a total waste of time last summer/last season was. If we get promoted it’ll be the next cast of mercenaries to come in and bin us off if we get relegated, and repeat!
He was absolute shite last season, would have been great in this league for sure. I’m sure he will enjoy a crap standard of football with plenty of time on the ball, more suited to someone with a total lack of heart and desire.
Serious money needs spending by Burnley in the next week. Two wingers, a striker and a central midfielder.

Wage off the books, loan fee and a squad space for a player that wants to be with us.Flying Without Ings wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:17 pmA loan literally makes no sense to us whatsoever.

If the loan fee is equivalent to what a first year instalment would be, then fine, get him gone and get his wages off the books.

Yeah, it's all a part of Alan Pace's masterplan. He is probably Weghorst 2.0 in the making.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:21 pmWage off the books, loan fee and a squad space for a player that wants to be with us.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I see this as the domino effect of selling your top players. Players that remain want to know why they haven't gone if top players are going. Unfortunately they will change the mentality of the squad.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We learned today that Al Dahill to Stuttgart was being discussed as a season long loan and option to buy. This is understandable as long as there is a firm commitment in 12 months, and I dont now see him breaking into our team. However with Amdouini as more and more players depart you would hope you could keep him, so a season loan makes no sense at all, bearing in mind he is a regular Switzerland player. If we could persuade him to stay, in 12 months he could be worth at least £20m and his likely goals could make a difference in us getting promotion. My worry at present is as more players leave it makes others on the fence wanting to go too.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The depth and quality was what was guaranteeing promotion (and I’m fairly certain it was). We’re now very vulnerable due to a significant portion of the squad being useless to us due to long term injury.
Something surely has changed with Alan Pace’s myriad loan repayment plans to have him sanction so much outgoing business in the last week. Business which may be terminal towards our chances of promotion. Have we possibly realised we were going to run foul of PSR/FFP and be in line for points penalties and worked quicktime to try and remedy it?

I’m getting a tad worried now. Two weeks ago we had creative options a plenty even including the likes of Twine in the squad. This, with the news of Amdouni breaking, leaves us with a real dearth in that particular area in comparison.

I've lost track now so how many players have we sold or loaned out?
And how many more about to leave any day now?

Which is the aim (promotion). Carrying too many players in the league below and retaining unhappy players isn’t.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:23 pmLet’s hope we don’t end up short on quality and miss out on promotion, because there’s a lot more money to be made by going up.
We’re creating space for players who want to be with us. That’d give us a better chance personally.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Got Leeds all over it , same for them once they were relegated everyone wanted out!
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
When the going got tough last season, Amdouni and a number of others went AWOL. They’re certainly not going to roll up their sleeves this season.
We prioritised talent/technical ability over character.
As Jedi says, Amdouni has shown very little heart and desire since he walked through the door. Get him ******* gone, along with anyone else that thinks they are too good for the club and championship football.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Don't understand why so many players would want out after our first two results. Loaning Amdouni is madness, we aren't exactly blessed with an abundance of strikers.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Promotion so quick and and instant relegation weren’t though as weren’t a change of coach.
It’s a corrective window bringing back equilibrium, pretty sensible really and wholly necessary when looking at squad numbers etc….
Can only be judged by where we are when the window closes and subsequent results on the pitch.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
But they still kept summerville Ruter Gnonto etc for 1 season.
These big time Charlie types should give us 1 season to try and get straight back up.
We're looking at ending the window with Jay and Foster as the only 2 recognised strikers with Hountondji who is an unknown but doesn't seem fancied at this point.

Fair point on Tarks, Paul Waine.
I was just surprised when he dusted himself down for the last game or two when he was recovering from a muscle injury, when he was off.

So Vitinho is apparently refusing to play and several others forcing a move.
The question is: Why?
Do they not get on with Parker? Do they not fancy a season in the Championship?

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Is Amdouni actually that big a loss? Lot of potential and good technical player but did anyone realistically think he’d fancy Plymouth, Oxford and QPR away?!
As for the number of outgoings, yes it’s a concern but we knew the squad needed to be trimmed and there’s still time for replacements to come in. Financially, we probably needed more out the door before bringing others in.
Talk of losing the dressing room seems insane too…we’ve won both games so far and the players who have left haven’t contributed. Majority out the door so far and those rumoured to leave were never realistically going to be here for the championship.

Some good news if correct? For now at least.
Burnley have turned down Palace offer for Brownhill. Want more than double what’s being offered all up front!
As stated before, no source, just a pal who is a Palace fan and works there.

Losing the dressing room after 2 games, winning both with an aggregate score of 9-1 would be pretty spectacular

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Although it was always the case that the squad size needed trimming and a number of fringe players needed to go it was also likely that a number of our main first team choices would want out but I think it now looks like a case of the club just selling anyone and everyone that another club has an interest in. Selling Zaroury for 9m euros was an absolute disgrace when seeing that Rowe of Norwich is going to France for £17m. We seem to be desperate to just offload anyone at the drop of a hat. Surely we are exceeing the amount we spent on incomings last season by the outgoings so far this year already. Hopefully we are getting in some more before the deadline because I'm beginning to suspect the wheels will start to come off with a lack of decent midfield cover and a pool of likely poor strikers if Amdouni goes anywhere. Whilst VK did leave us with players who have made a profit he also seems to have completely destroyed trust and loyalty amongst players and staff.

All of this news is making me weirdly confident that the players out there today will do the business.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The fans can pretend Amdouni is crap and Foster is amazing all they want, only one of them is going to a club in the Champions League whilst the other is stuck in the Championship

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I see losing the dressing room as more a personality clash. A player not believing in the coach/manager - no respect. Not so much about the results. But it could equally be about the relationship with the club and board. Who knows.
But you get professional players too who will give it their all regardless. They are paid a lot of money for doing a job and part of that job is to play at your best regardless under the contract.

Kompany has a lot to answer for with the level of toxicity he left at the club - he signed these players on being in the promised land of the prem and f#cked off the first chance he could after berating them and demeaning them it’s no wonder they want to leave

When Kompany joined I was confident he would take us up. I did a lot of reading up and a lot of Anderlecht fans were slating him over his 'trust the plan' speech. They were basically saying it's a load of old cobblers and not to believe it. I ignored it at the time and thought it was sour grapes. But they were right - there really is no long-term plan with Kompany. There never was.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:58 pmKompany has a lot to answer for with the level of toxicity he left at the club - he signed these players on being in the promised land of the prem and f#cked off the first chance he could after berating them and demeaning them it’s no wonder they want to leave

He became a victim of his own success. With the title winning season & everything good that happened everything he touched turned to gold that's why he wasn’t kept in check & allowed to get away with murder. Some of us had major doubts when the magic was wearing off but were quickly silenced by the people transfixed in awe.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:58 pmKompany has a lot to answer for with the level of toxicity he left at the club - he signed these players on being in the promised land of the prem and f#cked off the first chance he could after berating them and demeaning them it’s no wonder they want to leave

If he was given too much power, ultimately the fault lies in the current board room.

I don't mind loaning ZA out. Bigger club. More limelight in the shop window. Might find that league a bit easier and suits his build.
His value probably won't decrease further after last year.
We need to remember that all these young talented players hold market value reasonably well.
Change isn't always a bad thing. I'm sure we'll reinvest.

Yeah they're not great but they're organised now under Eustace.. I'd hate to be going into the Blackburn game with the XI we're starting against Sunderland, that's for sure.

There is a lot of fault to be handed out after the last 12 months of farce. But Kompany has the lion’s share, he was responsible for motivation, performance, tactics, team togetherness, most of the player signing decisions, and, finally, being the first rat to jump from the sinking ship himself. Like the captain of the ship leaping into the first lifeboat.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:18 pmYou can’t keep blaming Kompany for everything. I consider all these pathetic excuses for hardened footballers wanting to jump ship to be down to him, at least 80%. I have a little sympathy for the board. I have a lot of sympathy for Parker, and he needs all our support in putting it right over the season, and, if necessary, next.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Foster is a good player but nowhere near the best striker in the league as some people were saying earlier
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We need a 20 goal a season striker, and Foster isn’t that.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Foster is not a 20 goals season striker. No way. He’s actually poor in my opinion
