Vitinho was a disgrace today. Body language, passing, letting players run past him - awful.Paddy1882 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:06 pmAfter that anyone who doesn’t want to be here can go for me. Always been a Vitinho fan but his attitude and body language were a joke. Brownhill looked like he may have had his head turned, way off it. You have never and will never be bigger than Burnley football club.

Vitinho at Luton v Vitinho today. Incredible, at least the door shuts before the game next week. We will need heart and desire for that game. The lack of quality today though is a worry for next week. Let’s hope we have Worral in and Cullen is vital too.

With the squad and performance in the first game we would, in the second game it was still at a canter. Todays squad and team are relegation fodderfidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:05 pmAlso a wake up call to all those who were saying we'd just walk the league.

Egan-Riley was getting a hard time from some in the first half, he grew into it second half but with such a young defence and no midfielder ahead of them who could take the ball and use it effectively they were in essence stifled from the get go

I agree in terms of parker having been dealt a poor hand with the squad available but I’m just reiterating my point about off pitch antics. We can’t prepare for games with a squad so decimated. That was a shambles. Unless SP comes out and says there’s been a bug going about and the team were all ill then that’s the only excuse that we can have.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:06 pmCome on! You've played the game.
You have games where nothing works against a better team who are more up for it.
A number of players injured. Cullen and LK being major cogs in the mahine.
We were poor and looked like a side who didn't know how to win along with not knowing where each other played. Agree hole heartedly with the lack of outball and direction.
A bit far fetched to be disgusted. It's football. You'll have had bad days, bad games. We all have. We lost 1-0. It was poor. SP had a stacked deck against him.
We will lose more games this season I’m sure but we looked lost there’s devoid of ideas and pace. The rumours I’m hearing about behind stuff behind the scenes actually seem to be true seeing them stroll about today.

Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
I could take the spankings last season as we knew it was a young side which would grow together.
We learnt that we needed "men" to galvanise us and we were lacking those people.
I'm finding it a little more irritating today because it looked like we haven't learnt. We need to replace Berge in the centre with a dynamic leader and we need an exciting attacking player on the wing. We looked flat and didn't appear to have anyone to "pick us up" and drive us.
Let's hope there are players targeted this week to sort it. Worrall is definitely a leader but you need a supporting cast, too.

If he (Kolo) goes in this window, so do our chances of promotion. It's as simple as that. Also, the importance of Cullen is even more crucial than I thought. The other vital is that we get a new starter for attacking cm.

Chalk and cheese those two performances.
And judging by their start, perhaps Luton aren’t the strong side many of us thought.

I don't think Benson can be relied on to be fit.
I didn't think Massengo had enough about him to be a Cullen replacement. Not as busy or determined.

Luton11 shots 6 on target 4 goals
Cardiff 9 shots 4 on target 5 goals
Sunderland 4 shots 1 on target 0 goals
Total 24 shots 11 on target 9 goals
Not impressive!

We as fans should be furious that 14 players have been unavailable for todays game. I don’t care if O’Shea is off, he is under contract so play him.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:15 pmStunned by today's performance and the fact that 14 players were " unavailable " today...how is that even possible ?
Unless there has been a bug in camp, it’s unacceptable and an insult to fans who work hard all week and pay good money to travel.

Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
Perhaps he could have been doing that from the start of the game. If he was going to come on he should have stared alongside a proper defender (maybe the new kid from Chelsea). We found the time for Egan Riley but he couldn’t even pass it in front of Esteve to get a move going.
Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
Simple really - no wingers equals no chances. Sunderland had wingers and chances across the box.

Unbelievably , after someone who questioned his work rate and desire last season, this is true. Not sure what parameters we have to go against given the teams inept performance today but nevertheless
Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
I expect professional footballers to be able to do the minimum requirement that is to play football, today regardless of illness and injuries it was so disjointed as a performance I have witnessed in a long time and hopefully I don't witness it again this season starting next week!

Well that didn't age well, Hountondji looked like a competition winner out there, surely that's Parker saying to Pace sell all our players and this is what we're left with, we'd have been better off keeping Obafemi and that's saying something.

Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
Work rate and desire got bandied around a lot last season, I was never one to agree with that (I include Tresor in this). More likely heads dropped due to being overrun and / or out of their depth in a new league. Some get to the pace quickly, others take time, some never do.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:25 pmUnbelievably , after someone who questioned his work rate and desire last season, this is true. The frustration is when a player agrees to be on a bench but doesn’t start despite being miles better than at least one person taking his place on the pitch. It’s like agreeing to play a season with 45 games.
Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
Parker can't get a free pass, didn't look anything like a team that had a plan. He's had as many games in charge as the Sunderland manager. The Sunderland manager who had his best player sold out from under him a couple of days before this game and he has a very young squad with less experience than ours. They had a plan, they had a structure, they looked like a team. We didn't.

Kompany first three games in that record season
1 win 1 draw 1 loss 4 points
Parker's first three game's
2 wins 1 loss 6 point's
Calm down bed wetters. Still 43 game's to go ffs

Summed it up when the team were on the pitch before the second half, heads down, idly kicking the balls around. No player encouraging. SP came in briefly to seemingly sort out then Sunderland came out the tunnel looking like a team.

Mentioned earlier in the comments but academy director sacked and he’s apparently leaked some info about the first team to the u21’s.
Also heard about players not being paid who we signed last season. No idea Idea if true or not but both rumours off credible sources. One being off someone who takes in youth team players for ‘digs’ (housing) and the other an ex player at the club .

Re: Clarets vs Sunderland
That’s true. He was a shocker, summed up with him denying us an opportunity to take a long throw in the dying seconds when one of their players stopped the game by feigning injury. But why did our players not think to use their brains and stop giving the referee and opportunity to blow.
