Re: SP post-match interview
I don't see bringing players in to be a priority outside of Hannibal and maybe the lad from Celtic.
Just a pity we haven't signed a striker who can score goals.
Sunderland only created so many chances because we were so poor all round today. Hardly surprising with the selections but I feel we should be one of the strongest sides once this window shuts. I don't think there is a fire sale going on and the Board aren't stupid enough to pass on a chance at playing in the PL next season.

My observation today was of Foster is morphing into Fofana but hopefully given the performances of others it's a one off.

Re: SP post-match interview
We have some absolute depressing cynical people on here, throwing the towel in with three games gone and 6 points on the board. I was more upset about the team announcement at 2.00pm, rather than the result, which was an inevitable consequence of one of the weakest and inexperienced teams we have fielded for many years. We lost 1-0 away from home against a team yet to concede, in front of nearly 40,000 home fans. If Sunderland are top then we don't have too much to worry about. Turn it on its head if you are a Sunderland fan, playing against an absolute basket case of a team you would want to be winning by more than four goals today.
Lets see what the next 6 days brings in terms of ingoings. And a message to Wout , Benson , OShea and maybe Vitinho( based on his antics today) and as Parker stated that they don't want to play for our club, just f... off sooner rather than later .

What did everyone expect? We blew £100 million before last season and then was relegated. We had a ridiculously oversized squad and many of the players would want to secure better contracts. These are pigeons all coming home to roost after appalling management of the club.i feel sorry for Parker as this appears to have gone further than he had planned.

Re: SP post-match interview
Behave.
He's not as naive as those on here who it has perplexingly arrived as some huge shock to, that our better players will be in demand and some players who were only here to make their name in the PL want out.
Todays match squad was a shock, for sure, but with our new signings and a few more to come in we'll have what it takes to get out of this division.

Re: SP post-match interview
I've been at a function today so missed most of the goings on, where as I agree it's one defeat, seeing that bench has the SD era all over it when we named 3 keepers.
I'm prepared to wait until the window closes, but I just can't see us having a stronger squad,or starting 11 than what kicked off against Luton..
Re: SP post-match interview
I think we always knew the squad would be weaker due to how many needed to be releasedAndreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 8:54 pmI've been at a function today so missed most of the goings on, where as I agree it's one defeat, seeing that bench has the SD era all over it when we named 3 keepers.

I will keep my powder dry till next Friday on team strength, we certainly need replacements to make it as strong, but we've only lost 2 from that starting line up, and one has been replaced.

People saying we’ve lost one game , it’s the manner of the loss , can’t believe they don’t see it .

If anyone can fix it, I believe he can.
Irrespective of ER's performance, we need Joe Worrall in against Rovers because he'll bring leadership. And he won't hesitate to let the other players know if they need a bollocking.

For some reason, with all these sales, it's the JBG one that has really thrown me.

Might be only August but we’ve one week to sort out our squad for the next 4 months.Burnleyareback2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 7:44 pmKin hell- we lost 0-1 away, 6points out of 9
We knew we had to sell players and I’m sure there are players still to join.
A bit of perspective lads- it’s still August.

Re: SP post-match interview
I think Pace needs telling by as many people as possible that if sells Koleosho this window he can stuff a positive atmosphere for the foreseeable. Kolo really is just about the only player we have to excit the fans atm.
Re: SP post-match interview
He’s got to be massively disappointed. All the pre-season work gone in a puff of smoke as the better players begin to vanish from the squad. Even if we do get 4-5 new players in next week, how the hell is he expected to prepare a patched up team for the massive games against Rovers and Leeds? Think this season may well be a write-off barring some kind of miracle (hope I’m completely wrong)!
Re: SP post-match interview
Agreed, sadly. In the space of a week's mismanagement, I think our objective has changed from getting automatic promotion to just getting some stability back into the squad and keeping heads above water for a few weeks.

Re: SP post-match interview
Yet again, AP and the the Board totally misunderstanding the situation.
Win two games, scored 9 goals, top of the Championship.....so they now think promotion sorted, let's cash in by selling the players who have got us here.
koleisho off to Wolves and Cullen being touted this week would be the final nails in our promotion hope coffin.
I know the wages bill l has to come down but these boardroom decisions will leave us back in the Championship for the next decade at least.

If Pace can sell anyone for a profit, he will. Wake up this is not a football club, it is a commercial entity.

Don’t know what Pace promised SP but can’t imagine it was this. If I am correct in my thinking the I would be out of the door on Monday morning ( or maybe earlier )

Re: SP post-match interview
Just can’t understand why we are selling players on the cheap, and signing the likes of Hetoundji for big bucks. It’s gonna be a long hard winter on the Turf. Can’t see us threatening the top half of the league with this business model.

No it's not your football club, you don't own it you just buy into the fairytale that is BFC.
Grow up, you are being fed a fantasy to pay over the odds for a matchday experience.

Every player has a price, even Bellingham at Real Madrid.
Re: SP post-match interview
Explain, please... a couple of illnesses today and we're down to nothing.
Re: SP post-match interview
I get that the bench was "thin"
But given the obvious shortcomings in midfield we could have played with a back three and wing backs today to help strengthen the defensive part of our game
