Exactly-he could not get off to Hull quick enough last year and this season showed the same. Whereas SP knows Anthony, who is willing to commit to our club
Exactly my point. SP has to get players that want to play for Burnley and for him.
He knows Anthony. And apparently Anthony played very well for Bournemouth when SP managed them.

He hasn't signed yet, but is anybody else already seriously excited for the potential profit we might make on Hannibal
My lifetime Manure friend says he's bobbins......always running up blind alleys.

No, I think it’s mostly gone to service debt. Debt created by ALK, serviced by BFC, for the benefit of ALK.

I know next to nothing about Anthony but his season at Bournemouth under Parker (where they got promoted) seems to have been his best. I have no issue Parker bringing players he knows and trusts in personally. Just livid it’s at the expense of Koleosho, seemingly.

Sarmiento could play behind Foster possibly? Or is he strictly wide?

Pretty underwhelming replacements, if I’m being honest, but I suppose probably the best we can get in our position.

Can't believe fans are grumbling about these 3 just the kind of players we need for Saturday, can't wait to see Hannibal in claret and blue dishing out a few derby tackles UTC.

But is it really? , Zaroury was class in the championship yet wasn't even deemed good enough for the premiership.
He was class for 1/2 of his first season in the Championship, average for the second half of that season, and even less of the 1/2 season in the Championship for Hull.

He should be offered a new contract, simple as that. We need him and it would cost way more than 4 million to replace him.

Surely we aren't that desperate for 4 million quid?
He has been, for over a year. He won't sign it.

I'd rather have these 3 that we're getting, than players who don't want to be here and give everything for the club. These might turn out to be 3 good signings for us, I'm prepared to give them a chance, let Scott mould them and get the best out of them I say

This isn't supposed to be the finance thread, but for the sake of explaining the facts, the July 2023 accounts showed that we owed £101m in bank and factoring loans at that date and that ALK owed the club £124m. If ALK were to repay their loan, then the club could repay the bank loans the club owes.

The money that we have lent to ALK is interest free. The money we have borrowed from bank and finance houses was £9.5m. There is no guesswork involved.

They are good players, do I know if they will be enough to drive us to promotion? No

My issue with the three of them, is the amount of games they have started in the previous couple of seasons

Have you got a crystal ball?

What if he rips up the league? Will he be worth £10m then?

If we don’t get promoted, then it sounds like we have to pay nothing.

The only way it’s “terrible business” if he’s shite and we go up in spite of him. Even then it’ll be softened by the return of PL money.

I’ve no idea how good he’s going to be, but **** me. Some folk are almost willing every decision to be a bad one so that they can keep up this relentless misery.

I think some of the posters on here should be ashamed by their comments towards the owners of Burnley FC over the past few days. I am concerned by some of your remarks. Then i look at your usernames and it doesn't shock me one bit. I will leave it there, but i believe the posters with half a brain will recognise what i am trying to say.

He will add bite to the midfield (no pun intended) but he always seems to be a walking yellow card, that's not what we need in the first quarter of an hour on Saturday.

I'm happy with the 3 players - I just don't see the point of signing Anthony for more money than we brought in selling Zaroury as he's a worse player.. If he was £5m I'd have no problem with it at all.

Jaidon Anthony 34 games 1 goal zero assists for Leeds in the Championship. Doesn’t inspire too much confidence but hopefully the best is yet to come. At least the window is open a while longer yet.

...and he's 21 (not 22 till Jan), he's had a full season at this level when he was 19 where he started 17 of his 38 appearances. There's a player in there now and he's got plenty of time to grow and improve.

My oh my there aint half some rosy tinted views of Zaroury. We had half a season out of him. Sunderland away and that cross for Barnes in the derby aside..what did he do? He disappeared after the WC.
Anthony is known to Parker and has performed fot him. If anyone gets a tune out of him its Parker. 10m is steep but only on promotion. Is he good enough for the prem? That's my only concern.

Do we know that the fee is correct?

Also do we know how any fee will be structured? Could the full amount be based on other factors like staying in the Premier League?

Most of the appearances were 10 minutes from the bench, he had a better record the year Bournemouth got promoted under parker.

3 full internationals. Jack Cork especially is a special player and would be a fine addition on a free. If you saw Massengo and Brownhills completely lack of ability in terms of receiving the ball against Sunderland when pressed and progressing it effectively then you surely are aware of this.
[/quote]

You seem to be a bit sentimental there. Not sure what your point is by stating "3 full internationals"?

Cork - 1 England cap in 2017, when he was in his prime aged 28. Struggled 2 seasons ago in the Championship with us, picking up numerous yellow cards. Now 35. No one has picked him up on a free, with only PNE seemingly having minor interest in him in that time.

Jay Rod - 1 England cap in 2013, just after he'd played his first season with Southampton in the Prem. Since then, it seems years of injuries have taken there toll on him. Now 35 and you only see very brief flashes of brilliance from him and is mostly anonymous in matches. Lost a lot of pace. If you read Saturday's match day thread a lot of fans were calling for him to be hauled off at half time for Amdouni!

JBG - current Icelandic international and admittedly, I was looking forward to seeing him playing for us this season after re-signing him. 33 and still has a lot to offer, but unfortunately then signed for the Saudi club to earn more money for his retirement pot. Can't begrudge him that.

A bit disingenious to just pick out 2 players from Saturday, when not really anyone came out of that match with any credit. On the flip side to Brownhill and Massengo, 1 made a great run to score against Cardiff and the other played the final pass to JBG for his excellent goal in the same match .

Zaroury in the Championship
34 games 7 goals 5 assists
Jaidon Anthony in the Championship
34 games 1 goal Zero assists

How on earth is Anthony being viewed as an upgrade on Zaroury and using what metric?

He's a worse player than Zaroury.

I'd be fine with him coming in for £5m.

But spending £10m on a player that is worse than one we've just sold for £8m is terrible business. Don't see how it could be seen any other way?

That is correct but he only started 2 of the 31 league games, in fact he only played 479 minutes across those 31 games which averages just over 15 minutes per appearance. His issue was having Summerville ahead of him in the pecking order.

How on earth is Anthony being viewed as an upgrade on Zaroury and using what metric?
As just replied on the duplicate thread.

Stats need to be analysed to give the full picture.....

"Anthony only started 2 of the 31 league games, in fact he only played 479 minutes across those 31 games which averages just over 15 minutes per appearance. His issue was having Summerville ahead of him in the pecking order."

Longside claret originally said multiple medicals over next 24/48 hours, do we know if there are still more medicals booked after the 3 today

You are both correct and now he is reunited with Scott perhaps he can do the same for us.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ;)

He's a worse player than Zaroury.

I'd be fine with him coming in for £5m.

But spending £10m on a player that is worse than one we've just sold for £8m is terrible business. Don't see how it could be seen any other way?
Mattster…… what part of …. Zaroury dident want to play for Burnley do you not understand.

Jaidon Anthony 34 games 1 goal zero assists for Leeds in the Championship. Doesn’t inspire too much confidence but hopefully the best is yet to come. At least the window is open a while longer yet.
The lad also was going through some personal issues with his family during his time at DL ... so I wouldn't read too much into that, Scott P had him at Bournemouth and will know far more than most.

I had a really beautiful girlfriend. But she dosent want to be with me any more.
I beg to differ, the fact that many of us are typing away on the forum on a bank holiday, suggests none of us have a beautiful girlfriend.

Indeed. If we’d signed him in his prime you can only dream about the money we could have sold him for.

If he does sign I feel it’s written in the stars he scores the winner on Saturday.
The mind boggles.

Everything at the moment seems to be based on cost cutting & in terms of recruitment experimenting & hoping for the best seems to be the order of the day. By the time the windows finished anybody (mostly) with any sort of recognised pedigree will be long gone. It's where we're at.

They are good players, do I know if they will be enough to drive us to promotion? No

My issue with the three of them, is the amount of games they have started in the previous couple of seasons
My thoughts exactly, really.

They all need to hit the ground running.

No these are 3 hg players which is quite a healthy addition.
Wasn't the issue regarding whether the deals were loans or not?
