Posters are getting caught up in the semantics a bit.
The point on the Anthony deal is that basically for what, 14 months, the rhetoric/deflection has been "buy young prospects low, sell high", well, here we're signing someone who is a year older for more money than the player we've just sold and has a similar record in the Championship.
(similar to the arg of losing O'Shea and replacing him with Worral/Humphries).
It's not about criticising the new lads before they've kicked the ball, it's criticism of the 'project' which is looking more scattergun/desperate than methodical with each passing day.
Can understand the Worral transfer - good pedigree, proven and coming into his prime at a good price. Ekdal and Beyer although really good at this level are also both injury prone.
Can also understand the Hannibal transfer, but the Anthony and Sarmiento signings seem like us flapping, desperate to get someone in and committing to paying fairly hefty fees for players that haven’t really played that much recently.
Hope I’m wrong and they both work out as well as Tella did.

I really hope this isn't true. He has bags of potential and with an arm around his shoulders could rip up this league.
I agree, but sadly, we can hug him all you want, he doesn't want to be here.

Sarmiento and Anthony looking for permanent moves now instead of loans .
I believe Anthony struggled with the loss of his mother as well whilst on loan at Leeds. Sarmiento looks a creative player who can play as a ten and from the left. Gives us different options in that position , hopefully we can keep Koleosho and play him from the right .
As for Tresor, what a waste

Given the fact that the bookmakers are still pricing Burnley up as 4/1 second favourites behind Leeds United (7/2), just sneaking into the playoffs will be viewed by many as a somewhat disappointing season. Especially given the fact that the 3rd placed team in the betting are Middlesbrough at 12/1.
Yes and I put my reservations at not having a better season on the lack of goal power which I’ve noted you are openly questioning as well in other posts

Tresor has epitomised “not wanting to be here” more than any other player I can remember in 40 years. Heck he even missed his original flight.
I like the look of him as a player (I accept many do not) but mentally he doesn’t seem to have what it takes to be a success, whether that be drive, resilience or leadership. I can also struggle to think of a player less suited to Kompany’s aggressively dominant style of management.
Best we can hope for now is a series of loans fees or a fire rekindled and a big sale back.
We’ve seen it with other teams but never us until Kompany - a load of overseas hires who have to settle to a new culture, new style of football league, and often flop. I feel better with the new strategy - guys who have been around the EFL for a bit.

He's ours. Tell him he plays in the reserves all year if he won't play in the first team. We need to start playing hardball with players refusing to honour their contracts.

A loan move for Tresor is about as good as we could expect if he’s not wanted and/or doesn’t want to be here.
If we tried to sell him now, it’d be at a huge loss.
Hopefully he has a good loan spell and builds his value back up.

Haven’t looked but I would’ve thought Sheffield United would be up there in the betting.
I think they’ve made some good additions.

And you saw this potential when exactly?
He's been bloody woeful, and bloody lazy. Completely disinterested from day one, and that only got worse each time he crossed the white line. Good riddance.
But I'd hate for that to stop him becoming remembered as the best player to ever pull on our famous shirt.... that's bound to be used by those who have an anti-ALK agenda. Losing him will be fuel added to the 'THEY ARE RIPPING THE HEART OUT OF THE TEAM TO MAKE MONEY!!!' fire. It's ******** of course, but it'll be spouted anyway.
Worst thing about this window, is the negativity these wallopers will bring next week.

Don't people realise two different things can be true at the same time? It's quite possible that Tresor has been ill and is also in talks to leave.

If true it further backs up my point yesterday that I have never known so many players , at one time, mugging off our club, and not wanting to play, or go missing-Tresor, Wout, Delcroix, Benson . Its digusting and needs to be reigned ins. To think we used to get wound up when Gibson refused to play

Realising how short we are on squad numbers it looks as though any incoming players will have the upper hand in any negotiations.

No, my wording wasn’t great I apologise . I’m suggesting that they have both been out on loan last season and now feel the time to find a permanent club is right for them to push in with their careers . Wether they stay around long is another story. I suspect the one who will by around longer will be Anthony .

When I see players who don’t give their all for the team it really winds me up, and the flailing leg against Luton at home boiled my **** to new levels I’ve got to admit.
Hope he can have a good season so his value goes up and we can recoup some of that wasted transfer fee

Thinking of Kompany, one of the determinants of his success or failure was his tapping into the Belgian market, where he is revered and where he has strong connections.
How do we feel about these Belgians signed under him: Al Dakhil, Zaroury, Tresor, Bastien, Benson, Delcriox and Agyei?
I'd suggest that between them we have about 6 good months of football. Probably split about 3 months of Anass, 1 month of Al Dakhil and 2 months of Benson (on and off). All of which was at EFL level, none did anything noteworthy in the PL. Agyei of course if too young to judge.
Kompany really is seeming like a massive flop on this basis. I feel like I am getting more disappointed in him by the week despite that early glory.
We also had Vitinho and Foster although not Belgian nationals were signed from a Belgian club. Slightly better, but not world beaters yet. I'd keep both though.

Agree with this, and often the player has to play at a worse club and has constant uprooting of his family etc. It isn't just us who feel the downside. Look at Weghorst, a 4th kid on the way and he has been at 5 clubs in 3 years, soon to be 6. That is 3 countries, soon to be 4. So they don't necessarily want this either, but nor seemingly do they want to stay with us.

We need to be "smart" in the way we handle Tresor. He may have had the best stats in Belgium but I saw him at Brentford last year in maybe his debut-he just did not have the fight in him. Then that famous appearance as a sub v Luton at home, when in all the years watching our club, never seen someone as cowardly. Its OK saying put him in the reserves, but we recently signed him after our loan of him, and for big money. Needs to go on loan and we hope he has some good games. For those that say give him the benefit of the doubt he could have been injured, from what I have seen of the behaviour of some of our recent acquisitions , that's utter bol...ox.
