Not my sort of music at all but respect where respect is due for what they have done. One of the biggest bands of all time.

Oasis are a massively over rated band , a couple of good songs - but basically got by on attitude and anti establishment rather than quality.. i know music is subjective , and some people will lose their heads on the news -

I don’t mind them but generally I see them as the band of choice for people that don’t really like music or go to many gigs.

So many snobby replies. It’s fine to say “I don’t like them” without the sneering tones afterwards, or the generalisation that your view represents the masses.

Loved them.
Saw them at Maine Road and other than seeing David Bowie in his Serious Moonlight tour back in 1983 it’s the best live gig I have ever seen by a mile.

First 2 albums were brilliant but I also like a lot of their stuff from their subsequent albums. There’s also a load of great tracks from the EP singles they brought out which used to have 3 or 4 tracks on them.

Plenty of tracks that Noel and Liam have done after Oasis I also like.

Liam is a fantastic front man - yep he’s a bit of an idiot and he’s not going to win any singing contests either. But as a front man he’s great….and that’s mainly because of the catalogue of songs he is playing and how these and him can ignite a crowd.

Noel for me is the genius. The songs he has written and is able to still write and the way he has experimented with different music sets him apart from Liam who to a large degree is a one trick pony !! Noel’s voice has also got better where Liam’s for me partly because of the way he sings has deteriorated over the years (though as a performer Liam has got better - some of those beady eye gigs at the start were excruciatingly bad).

Noel is also the one who understands music much better and what is needed to put together a band, a set, a tour etc

I just think you put all this together and if you like Oasis then you cannot go wrong. They know that a hell of a lot of people LOVE Oasis and that if they can keep it together for a few months or even a year they will earn more money than they did in the whole or their previous careers of touring. I can see tickets being a minimum of £100 each - but even if they charge £200 they will still sell out everywhere. Whether you like their music or not there are not many bands in the world who can do this.

Agree. I saw them mid-2000's and it was one of the worst gigs I'd been to, and I go to a lot. They were off it, and the audience were not the usual type I see at gigs, which made it a bit crap (Stone Island massive innit)

I've just been listening to some tunes from early 00s. "Castles in the Sky" by Ian Van Dahl - put that around 2002.

Songs remind you of times during your life. Matt Darey - Beautiful, is another.

The crowds got worse as time went on at Oasis gigs, a big reason why I was glad they split up when they did.

I didn't see any trouble in the 90s at their gigs I went to. The Saturday at Heaton park there was fights breaking out everywhere.

I don't mind a bit of dance the stuff you've mentioned is more mainstream dance I like underground rave stuff I'm a old skool raver. DJ sy, digweed, sasha. Oasis I don't think did enough studio albums I can only really recall 3 they had a cult following probably still have.

Robert Miles imo started the Trance life. When he came out with Children it basically started it. After that it became more and more. I think that was more late 90s and it took off from then. Just thinking of other songs - System F (Ferry Corsten) around the same time. Signum, Binary Finary and Kevin & Perry did their bit haha. Ferry Corsten will for me be the best ever trance DJ.

If you like trance solarstone radio on soundcloud is good. Anyway off to bed before I get a bollocking off an oasis fan for hijacking the thread with progressive music.

I can take them or leave them, and if they have decided to reconcile their differences then as brothers that has to be good for them, and music is meant to make people happy, so I’m pleased for the fans that will benefit from this reunion.
There is obviously a demand for them (look at all the Oasis tribute bands out there!) So I don’t blame them wanting to cash in on that.
(Although I’m sure they aren’t strapped for cash, the lifestyle won’t be cheap to maintain)

Question to die hards,

Apart from the brothers is it important who the other members of the band will comprise of?

Yeah I know it. We will have to catch up again sometime. Since moving to West Yorkshire trance is pretty much dead. Lancashire pubs and clubs know their music. Leeds is bloody awful.

Liked them back in the day but I feel going back may be just a bit of a gimmick / crowd pleaser. Like NGHFB and feel he has really moved on from 2009. LG not overly keen on his solo stuff and his voice not what it was for me.

Thanks mate, definitely making a note of this. When I go out in Leeds it's not my type at all. Much more like Jazz and chilled out music. Before I moved over I was out in Liverpool and Manchester which were far better nights.

Same and I would say 100% the opposite. Now he can keep it going better no doubt but he’s changed the way he sings, now he sounds like he’s holding his nose to do a prank phone call. I’ll still be going to check them out, it’ll be good craic.

You might be right there. I remember thinking many people weren't there for the music, they were there cos their mates were there and it was a bit of a nobheads night out. I'll bet the earlier 90s gigs were better. Then again, some of the ones in the one I went to might have been there in the 90s and turned out like that!

I've seen crowds of some bands I've watched since I was at school significantly change over time mind you as they've sold out to some extent

I'm bang into Jazz as well but yeah for some proper trance, digital society. It's a ticketed event but it's a proper 'do.

Was thinking the same thing. The likes of Sven Väth before he went more minimal and then Paul van Dyk in the early 90s were on the German scene. Even stuff like Energy 52 Cafe del Mar predates 'Children' by about 4 or 5 years.

Yep. My leave gets rostered into my shift so I know when I’m working for years to come (hopefully). I only work 14 12 hour shifts in 42 days so can’t grumble.

Same and I would say 100% the opposite. Now he can keep it going better no doubt but he’s changed the way he sings, now he sounds like he’s holding his nose to do a prank phone call. I’ll still be going to check them out, it’ll be good craic.

On a side note, shows how hard it is to tell ages from posts on here, I thought you were late teens/early 20s!
Didn’t think that at all about his voice, I’d have said he was far less nasally. I thought it at the time and listening to the videos back. Maybe you caught him on a bad night.

I was amazed by how well he could actually sing (although I’ve always loved Oasis, I’d have been the first one to say Liam was a better frontman than singer) and how well he looked. It was like he hadn’t changed since the 90’s. Maybe they just have better auto tuning now though

Haha, I wish! :D

Will be interesting to see what price they pitch the tickets at.
I was told £100 each but not sure if that’s fact or speculation.
