It's starting to look that way, going to need a season just to regroup and stabilise things.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 4:57 pmin all honesty, if we can somehow double our money on Foster I'd bite their hand off as long as they bring some replacements in.

All that work and team building in pre-season has gone straight out the window.

That doesn’t tie in with what LC said at all.
I heard there was one on Sunday, which I assumed was Hannibal, and a couple (could be two or three) yesterday.
Now we know Sarmiento wasn’t yesterday or Anthony. Either they just got deferred or they were for other players.

Apparently the medicals are taking longer than usual as any player wanting to join us at the moment needs their head examining.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:05 pmThat doesn’t tie in with what LC said at all.

Christ. I was looking forward to this transfer window under a new manager. Trim the squad a bit, bring in a couple of quality replacements and walk the league again. Couldn't have got it any more wrong.

I've dipped in and out of this thread but as far as I can tell, since Saturday afternoon there is a number of posters who seem to have done nothing but post on it, more often than not constantly repeating themselves.
I understand they are concerned, or worse, about what is happening but I worry for their wellbeing. There's absolutely nothing any of us can do about the situation. Surely you are better served walking away, doing something more beneficial to your health and letting it pan out. What will be, will be.

Ah okay. Seems a lot of conflicting information is out there.
I think sometimes the press report the medicals are happening way after they’ve been done, but assuming the athletic are right it would suggest there were some medicals yesterday for unknown players.
That or the info given to LC was wrong.

4/1 to WIN the League

Without trying to be called a “bed wetter”, this is getting seriously worrying.
I’d love brownhill to steady the ship by signing a new contract.A few solid signings and some more links but it simply looks doom and gloom. The last “hopes” zeki and luca want out.
Even if hannibal, anthony and the sarmiento come in, it will only paper over the cracks.
All before the biggest game of the season. How quickly things can change in football

To be honest, I think letting a lot of those fringe players go are looking like bad decisions.
We had Churlinov, Twine, JBG, Odobert & Amdouni (ignoring Ramsey - not fit), to play in the 10 and it’s looking like we won’t have a fit 10 now.
Shocking.

I'd have rather had Churlinov and Twine playing against Sunderland than shoehorning the new lad Houtoundji out wide and dropping Jay into midfield at times, that's for damn sure.
Churlinov/Twine absolutely fine as squad players.

If they want to go let them, glad to see the back of most of them, showed no fight last season and I wouldn't expect them to this season if the going gets tough, all we can hope for is we get a few in, solid professionals, not foreign mercenaries.

When we bloated our squad, I thought it might’ve been a reasonable strategy whereby we retained a core group for if we went down and lost our ‘premier league’ players.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:26 pmI'd have rather had Churlinov and Twine playing against Sunderland than shoehorning the new lad Houtoundji out wide and dropping Jay into midfield at times, that's for damn sure.
Churlinov/Twine absolutely fine as squad players.
Obviously you can’t do that forever, but I thought having that as a safety net for a year or two while we try and establish ourselves in the premier league was quite sensible.
Seems it was actually not by design and just rank bad management.
I think it’s fair to say they don’t have a strategy at all now, actually.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The one thing this afternoon that has virtually sickened me is news about Foster. wanting away. I saw him on Mission 2, crying and saying he was in a dark place. From what I saw last season the club bent over backwards to get him the best possible support and get him playing again. Having struggled recently myself I could fully relate to it. Now he wants away.Have to say its one thing a club still buying you after recovering from a serious physical injury , however once its well documented that you have had serious mental issues firstly prior to joining Burnley, and secondly after joining, clubs have to be very brave in paying a significant fee. I suspect the fee would be around £20m-bear in mind Arsenal got Trossard for that sort of fee. I also doubt if he would break into the Brentford team, putting him under pressure to perform

That was my initial thought as well, I disliked it and thought it was a bit daft but decided to give it time, last season seemed insane from the off to me but again, clean slate heading into this season... but I've basically come to the same conclusion as you. It feels scattergun and very desperate.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:33 pmWhen we bloated our squad, I thought it might’ve been a reasonable strategy whereby we retained a core group for if we went down and lost our ‘premier league’ players.
