Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Think it’s time someone with a bit of back bone and some balls whether that be board member, manager or senior player, sit everyone down and tell them in no uncertain terms they signed a contract with this club, the club dictates whether you go or not simple as that and if you don’t go you’ll play. In my opinion if they are asking to leave the same week as the biggest game of our season on Saturday I wouldn’t want them anywhere near the team to be honest, shows exactly what they think of the club and the fans but we can’t let everyone go as it is to late to replace.

Vitinho has told Botafogo he wants to stay at Burnley.
I've heard enough, captain him if Brownhill jumps.

We've been playing stats ball.... if the stats light up for Burnley, they'll light up for everybody else using the system in a similar way. It's hardly cutting edge what Mooney et al are doing is it? Brighton, Brentford, Watford amongst others have been at it for years. Brighton had to go half a billion deep for it to begin returning, Watford have basically traded away their premier league position and Brentford had to go a quarter of a billion in - in the championship for it to work.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 4:27 pmIf Lyle Foster has somehow got a Premier League move lined up off the back of his time at Burnley so far that is really surprising to me. He’s got the raw attributes but come on, what’s he done? He’s had 5 or 6 brilliant performances, a load of rank bad ones and then a few middling ones - all interspersed with a significant amount of time off with mental illness which the club and fanbase stuck by him on.
After signing him from an absolute non entity of a club and making him likely a millionaire, I have to say I’d find his efforts to get himself out of our club even more distasteful than the others.
Is the Burnley FC ownership group going to consistently go that deep in?

Not sure I understand the dislike of Anthony as a signing.
Good record in the Championship under Parker.

Wolves close to agreeing 10m move for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. If they really are skint as some are suggesting, then I doubt they have another 20m for Koleosho.

45 games, 8 goals and 7 assists in a promotion winning team.
Not too shabby.

Watched em since the 1960s when players were loyal to the club not just ours everybody s now it’s kiss the badge take the money and run when it doesn’t suit you
so get rid of all the tossers I’ve signed a contract and now I don’t like it then play all the kids and young up and coming players who will toughen up are keen hungry and want to get on in life have a couple of lean seasons and crack on from there onwards and upwards UTC

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Its not the players that have left that worries me, as we have secured some good fees. Its the ones left that want away, with the list increasing by the hour that's more worrying. I thought Scotty had a hard task with his post match interview at Sunderland. I dread to think how tough the post Wolves match will be for him now
We need to take a leaf out of Brightons book (with Sarmiento) and tell Koleosho if he wont start tomorrow night hes not getting paid for August. Its looking like he engineered not being in the squad v Sunderland. After all we have done for him the little turd

Yeah, realise that, but in the alternative scenario it’s a lot of money to commit for a single year when we are used to buying players for similar fees last time we were in the Championship (Pires c.£2m too).123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:57 pmThere has to be something in it for Bournemouth to loan him out with the obligation only being if we are promoted

Totally agree. Going 100% into any one ideology will always end up backfiring.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:52 pmWe've been playing stats ball.... if the stats light up for Burnley, they'll light up for everybody else using the system in a similar way. Not to mention, the real smart clubs get the players before there's much data about them, before they've played senior games - that's where you get the undiscovered gems (easier said than done of course).
Benfica's scouting network and player development is truly incredible and it makes them a mint.
Honestly, I'd love it if we brought in someone that's worked in a setup such as that or in the RB system/equivalent.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Can we have an agreement to give new young players a chance? Let’s be honest we are gonna need them to perform.
I’m imagining what Parker, Pace, Williams and all the rest have been feeling over the last week. It’s bad enough on here, they must feel it’s like some dystopian movie. They have my sincere sympathy and understanding. Some people have made a big gaffe (and I do wonder what was on this alleged list, who it was made for and who wrote it). But what we do know is this week wasn’t in the plan for anyone, including the owners (some of it was, but not the late downing of tools).
So whoever they come up with by Saturday, and remembering we have the January window too, let’s get firmly behind them and beat them lot down the M65 cos they’ll be licking their lips currently.

Well if that's the case and your info has been good previously, it is going to be a long season.LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 3:48 pmI’d probably swap Trafford and Foster in those lists and that’s about where it is currently.
As much as it jeopardises the quality. I don't want a single one of these players who want out featuring against Rovers Saturday. It's not a game for players who are thinking about moves and protecting themselves, we need men who will give it there all.

I'm with you.
I also don't think he's much better than someone like Zaroury who we sold for what will be similar money (and Zaroury wasn't considered a starter anyway).
I'm starting to see a serious problem if we aren't careful where we get to Summer, haven't gone up, and then can't afford to convert the loanees anyway as we still have debts to service. What kind of squad will we be left with then!?
I still want to see us go and get 3 marquee signings now, Hannibal is decent enough but neither of the wingers fit the bill for me.
