Wasn't that Kompany in the documentary?

Not relevant now he's gone
Actually it was the only director at the club who truly understands what building a sports team and business operation is all about

and it is always relevant, as Dave Checketts quite clearly understands

There is often a lot of jumbled up, confused thinking from some posters over some of the myriad issues coming from the club.

On one issue it's: 'how would you feel if this happened at your place of work? EXACTLY. It's no different.'

On the next topic, same poster, it's 'well that's just football, what can you do?'

Not saying either position is right or wrong but pick a lane and stay in it FFS.

You obviously have plenty in case of emergencies. I certainly struggled when I was off for 21 months with Cancer and got SSP instead of my wage. Yes, I got other help but I was still over £1k a month down on my wage. Living costs go up as well as you are home all the time and need more heating due to the effects of Chemo. So yes, money does matter.
Of course it does but that is not what I meant.
It was that mental illness or any illness does not differentiate between people who are wealthy or poor. And when you are in a very dark place it is very often the case that money or what you are being paid is not your priority and it certainly won’t be the solution to getting you better.

I'd expect still to get paid in full if I was off work with mental health issues. Absolutely
Really? Do you work for your Dad?

Off sick is off sick. SSP is what you’ll get, and that’s right. If it was any other way, everyone in the country would be banging the doctors door down claiming mental health issues knowing full well they can be off indefinitely on full pay.

It was Kompany walking with pace
It's not relevant because the new manager might think different

there are six directors and he is one voice, the only one who seemed prepared to challenge the approach. As we know all the power lies with Pace, Smith and Hunt - with Pace and Smith being the ones that are the most active in this transfer process

Not really. I get 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay if I go off sick. I don’t, ever. But at least I know I have the support of a great employer if I do get into trouble.

You need to find a better employer, I get full pay for 12 months and should I never be able to work again I'd get 50% for the rest of my life.

You can consider yourself fortunate because plenty of others aren't in the same boat & would have to rely on SSP solely.

I haven't, I was just commenting as in like 'he must be'' based on the fact that's why he ended up leaving Bournemouth cause he felt like he'd not been backed at all. No prediction there or anything, sorry, the wording is bad and I see why it's come across thay way. I am not great with brevity sometimes, will try harder to be clearer.

Around 2-30 pm on Saturday could be a nightmare scenario .If we bring 4/5 players in are they going to be ready to play and how can Brownhill and Jay Rod get it into their heads that there’s more than 3 points a stake.Who could have imagined that night at Ewood when we rubbed their ugly noses in it that we could turn into a mish mash of a football team?

Heard from a reliable source that there has just been a big to do down at the training ground and Parker has got straight in his car and left. Believe he was given the news that Kolo has been allowed to step back to pursue a transfer. Board now in panic mode.
Is everyone just going to ignore this and continue to argue about what irrelevant companies sick pay policies are? Is that where we are now at?

Collins
Cornet
Tarkowski
Pope
McNeil
Mee
Westwood

Lennon
Pieters

I'm not usually one to post on forums but genuinely feel like I need too.

Is anyone at the point now where they're genuinely concerned about the football club? I can only imagine what the atmosphere must be like around the place?

Also if you was a footballer looking in the club with everything going on right now would you want to come & play for it? I just worry that we look a mess & we're operating like one too & it's being aired for all to see.

I might be worrying for nothing but I am at the point now where I am genuinely concerned about what's going on.
I’ve been visiting this board for years and years, moreso when big events happen.

The background and business model of Pace concerned me, as did sacking Dyche for a chance to stay up: it feels like the club is set up all levels to gamble, which is very much against my understanding of the club prior to the takeover. For me, it doesn’t suit the values I thought the club had, but times change and football certainly has.

My worry was that after Dyche went, and with him (what I understand was) a sizeable amount of back room staff, I was gutted - a bit for the manager, but more for what I thought it represented: a change in the club culture. It seemed the club had been cleared to make way for the new owners to pursue their high risk, high reward strategy.

I was so despondent with it, that I said we’d be in League One within five seasons.

Obviously, that was tested when we signed Kompany and what seemed like more players than I’d even seen join the club all at once. Being still slightly skeptical, I thought it might be the same old story of trying to integrate cheaper European players into the English football league and failing.

I was wrong, of course — an incredible season. Sadly, the one that followed was as poor as the previous one was amazing, and with relegation, the old doubt came back: we’ll have large debts that need clearing. We gambled and lost.

This doubt now looks increasingly likely: the players have left as quickly as they joined, as has the manager.

‘Bigger’ clubs than ours have dropped leagues. What’s to stop that happening to us?

I really hope Scott Parker is supported and the rumours of the bust up are just that. I also hope that we sign a load of quality players, put 5 past Rovers on Saturday, and win the league at a canter.

UTC.

Didn't we get turned down by RVN and Lampard this summer and possibly some others?
I'd be interested to hear their reasoning. Lampard has chosen being unemployed over being our manager so if that rumour was true the warning signs may well have been staring us in the face

Lampard was quickly discounted as a candidate from what I heard and RVN wasn’t far behind. We definitely weren’t turned down by them.

No we didn't
So Parker was our first choice? Not saying your wrong but just find that hard to believe when it took so long to appoint him

Heard from a reliable source that there has just been a big to do down at the training ground and Parker has got straight in his car and left. Believe he was given the news that Kolo has been allowed to step back to pursue a transfer. Board now in panic mode.
Hopefully Parker putting his foot down wakes Alan Pace up and makes him realise how destructive this is to the club.

Is everyone just going to ignore this and continue to argue about what irrelevant companies sick pay policies are? Is that where we are now at?
Yes, everyone is going to ignore a post by a brand new poster that is obviously on the wind up.

We’ve still got Trafford, Koleosho, Benson, Brownhill, Foster and Amdouni, but that’s not stopping numerous clubs being linked to them….
