Could Parker walk?
Re: Could Parker walk?
He has a fairly guaranteed three year contract during which time he will probably earn as much as a normal working class person earns in a lifetime
If you were in that position would you walk out

Re: Could Parker walk?
I don’t think he’ll walk this early.
The biggest problem SP has now, is he inherited a huge squad and seemed to get the majority of them onside and feel part of what we are trying to achieve this season.
Whatever has happened behind the scenes this week has wasted the work he’s put in during preseason to lift the place and get the players hitting the ground running.
Right now we don’t know what the squad will look like come next Saturday, but hopefully we can get some experienced heads in to steady the ship.
Foster and Jayrod are definitely not the answer up front and the midfield has no balance without Cullen.

I don't for one second that parker didn't know this was the plan, sure it's tough now but I think it'll give them time to bring in some players this week

Re: Could Parker walk?
With a toxic environment rumoured to be present at the club and big fixtures looming against Blackburn and Leeds , quite honestly this has the potential to go horribly wrong or be a major turning point.
Nobody knows how this will all play out but we are just left with fingers crossed hoping for the best outcome.

All the talk from the players has been that it's been fantastic since Parker came in... Where do you get the toxic environment from?kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 12:19 pmWith a toxic environment rumoured to be present at the club and big fixtures looming against Blackburn and Leeds , quite honestly this has the potential to go horribly wrong or be a major turning point.

According to many posters on here today a leaked What’s App message sent inadvertently to the players has resulted in several asking to leave and wanting away.

Re: Could Parker walk?
Parker probably already has more than that many times over given his long playing career at the top level and his time as a manager.
He probably might just think, 'f**k it', I wouldn't blame him.

Re: Could Parker walk?
This is the message thats doing the rounds on whatsapp;
My step dad was saying his lads came back yesterday and told him the academy manager had been sacked, he'd compiled a list of the whole first team with comments about each player, some pretty harsh, and was sending it to an agent but has accidentally dropped it in the u21s WhatsApp group which included that michael Melon. He's screenshot it and replied about how harsh it was. They said Jay & Brownhill had to go to the u21s and tell them not to share it with the first team before today's game

Re: Could Parker walk?
It’s quite clear that this isn’t the scenario that he was sold a few weeks ago and behind the scenes I’m sure he will be making his feelings known.
He possible could have done some things better yesterday but probs wanted to make a point.
Fans have to back SP massively now.
Also, he’s loaded & a long way from home, if I was him I’d probs walk & spill the beans on what a sh1t show this is.
However, we could look differently next week, defence will be fine with Worral in it but we look miles off it up top & in centre mid.

Re: Could Parker walk?
So had Kompany stayed would this unrest have happened? No doubt some players only agreed to come because of him. I hope SP stays, we need to give him all the support we can due to the hand he’s been dealt.

Re: Could Parker walk?
It sounds from Brownhills comments that communication has been the problem. We expected players to leave, but clearly the number and speed at which its happened is a shock to players.
For fans too, I think the board could have managed expectations much better. They need to come out this week and reassure fans and players the outgoings turnstile is locked, with only the incomings open.

Re: Could Parker walk?
Can't be doing much for Parker's confidence all these players wanting out. Big job for him, and a chance to show us if he's got it.

A few on Twitter suggesting Parker has quit, seem to be Rovers fans though so hopefully just wishful thinking.

Aren’t most of the players sold foreign and wouldn’t all have been available in a match day squad. Perhaps SP has been told to focus on homegrown

But not to the extent of playing the entire youth team, surely? (I think I'm joking!)Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:10 pmAren’t most of the players sold foreign and wouldn’t all have been available in a match day squad. Perhaps SP has been told to focus on homegrown

Re: Could Parker walk?
Parker and Mr Pace have been in talks and agreed a new 3 year project. Cash in, rebuild and stabilise in year 1, Add a few bits of quality and win promotion in Year 2 and then with a more pragmatic approach avoid relegation in year 3.
I'm led to believe both parties are aligned and happy and the immediate challenge is managing fan expectation. Feels like the message for this season from the club to the fans will be "calm down and let the process take its course"

If there is a process, then let's hear what it is, Mr. Pace.

When we were getting battered every week last season, we were told we're in a year 2 of a 5-year project.
Our third season didn't exactly start well.

Re: Could Parker walk?
Of course, the most pivotal point in the club's recent history and Pace and Parker think the best place to formulate a strategy to secure the long term future of the club is over calamari and bruschetta at a restaurant, making sure they speak loud enough so people at other tables can overhear them, just in case they want to chip in with their own ideas.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:36 pmA trustworthy friend of mine was out for a meal this evening in San Marino (restaurant on outskirts of Bolton) and overheard Mr Pace and Parker discussing the project . Parker had a career based on grit, determination (and ability of course). Not likely he'll do anything other than drive that message home to whoever is here, backs to the wall us against them attitude.
Re: Could Parker walk?
I hope so, but didn’t he leave Bournemouth for the board not backing him? I still feel there is more to come from the WhatsApp gate, and I really do hope the comments were not Parker’s, hense everyone on the move.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:18 amParker had a career based on grit, determination (and ability of course). They sacked him for the comments but when you listen to them I didn't think they were unreasonable tbh. Yes, agree with the WhatsApp thing, it's all happened since then.
I think I'm just trying to convince myself tbh

Re: Could Parker walk?
With the widely publicised revelations about the WhatsApp message I can be fairly confident that Parker may well have known about some players leaving but this hand grenade WhatsApp message was not part of the “process”.
I don’t think he’ll walk, but who knows - he may not want to be tainted with all this fallout from that WhatsApp message.

It'll make him a far better manager I'm sure as there's no way he'll ever have to experience this type of situation again..Imagine if the World beater Pep, walked into City this season for pre season and had 18 first team squad members leave, the situation for SP is as tough as it gets I'd assume..
