Surely now with all the people that apparently know that foster was back training today, there will be someone that knows by now if Sarmiento has travelled up for a medical

Showed the desire to get there yeh. He’s got good feet which compensates for him not being rapid. He was much better when he came inside a little moreNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:10 pmFair enough. Still seems strange to me.
As a different point, was impressed how hard he ran (and how fast) to get in to the position to score last night. He also played right, which is interesting.
My biggest concern with him is his pace and that his size/strength, but slightly calmed the pace nerves at least.

Straightforward match?
I doubt if Brighton are now viewing it that way after their latest multi million £’ssss signing got clattered and put out of action for the foreseeable.

in reality - as much as people might not want to hear it right now .... if it stays as it (Sounds like the foster thing isn't solid)
Then our starting 11 is still stronger than more or less anything else in this league
including the 2 to come in
I do hope we make signings by the way, just trying to stay positive

Regardless of foster going or not, I still think we need another striker . 2 if he goes.
Who’s said he is back in training?
These people are contracted to play for the club, training is work, they should knuckle down until further notice for me . If I decided to down tools in my job I’d be disciplined at the very least.

Foster and Vitinhio could easily have asked not to be involved until their futures are sorted. If the club arent saying ‘not for sale at any price’ then clubs and agents will still keep pushing and the players will be a little all over the shop. They might want to go but be ok if they have to stay.

Possibly that deal is linked to Kolesoho, in which case it might not be a bad thing if it’s off.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:35 pmSarmiento still hasn’t travelled up, I think that deal is dead

We are still short in the wide areas as it stands :
Koleosho
Anthony
Benson
Agyei (untested)
Redmond long term injury

I think he was planned as the Koleosho replacement. So could well mean Luca is staying (for now).PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:39 pmPossibly that deal is linked to Kolesoho, in which case it might not be a bad thing if it’s off.

It’s not a big squad when you consider it’s main purpose, availability for the next game
Take off the long term injured
The potentially still injured short term injuries
The rumoured leaving
They are leaving or mysteriously ill or have a knock
You can add Worrall
Hannibal is he registered in time
I think at a guess we’ve 14 or so senior professionals
Should be 20 for a full bench and not including 3 keepers

Maybe but still think we are short, when you think we have lost JBG, zaroury and odobert and only brought Anthony in as a wide optionPremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:39 pmPossibly that deal is linked to Kolesoho, in which case it might not be a bad thing if it’s off.

Don't want to get too excited as a lot can change before Friday but I would be delighted if Koleosho stays, as per my post above. It would be a massive boost if he was still here and available on Saturday.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I was wondering how the Premier League clubs were handling the transfer window this summer.
Chelsea - yes, with yet another new manager - have left Raheem Sterling, £325,000 per week and Ben Chilwell, £200,000 per week out of their squad. Told them both to "find another club." (Not sure what they are doing about their wages).
Crystal Palace, Marc Guehi played for Palace in the Carabao cup last night. Newcastle are still keen to sign him. Latest offer reported to be £70 million.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
True, but I imagine that deal would be subject to him getting plenty of playing time which might not be guaranteed if Kolo stays. That said, if he does stay. it’s a lot of pressure on a young lad just coming back from a major injury.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:44 pmMaybe but still think we are short, when you think we have lost JBG, zaroury and odobert and only brought Anthony in as a wide option

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The issue is the situation with Koleosho could drastically change in the next 48 hours by which time the clear target of Sarmiento would no longer be available.
We still need cover in the attacking positions so bring Sarmiento in now and potentially worry about Koleosho leaving later.

Luca needs to be told straight it's no sale unless we get North of £30m and we will expect him to be a major player this season now everyone else seems to bailling

The poster suggested we couldn't field a team on Saturday, that's all, I didn't comment on quality of squad, who could leave, or anything.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 1:43 pmIt’s not a big squad when you consider it’s main purpose, availability for the next game

He may not have much choice.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Some one has probably already asked the question, but here goes. If our players are so much in demand, and worth so much to so many other teams, how the hell did we manage to finish the season 19th.

Anthony is done and dusted.
Sacha is going to be ****** when whichever one of the players agents that keeps leaking stuff gets flogged, that'll be 90% of his content done for.

They are mostly decent players as individuals. They were unfortunately told to play suicidal tactics in the PL last season.
Most will do well if managed correctly this season (except Muric, who has already continued with his performance against City last weekend).

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
For a lot of players I imagine it's not as simple as either wanting to stay or go. Many will probably be fairly happy where they are but will always have one eye on their next move, that's the job of their agents.
From my outside perspective we need to play hard ball between now and the end of the window. No one leaves unless we want to sell or if they want to leave so much that they'll be a negative influence on the dressing room.
I suppose the flaw in the above approach is that Alan Pace seems to want to sell everything he knows exists at the moment. Let's hope he's got that out of his system now.

I'm confused regards Foster to Ipswich now. Is that happening, or as has been suggested, was it a smokescreen?

There's a suggestion that Ipswich were using interest in Foster to strengthen their position with Chelsea re Broja
