Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We need at least 2 strikers and probably 3 if we are relying on JayRod and Houndini (perhaps he will escape as well). If all those touted as still leaving do go then we need another 6 or 7 incomings at the very least and maybe more. God knows how SP would get them working as an effective unit for quite a while. I had believed we were nailed on for promotion now it looks like we will be fighting to stay up. We must get our injured players back as soon as possible.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
It really is this. I swear we have mass hysteria negativity happening everywhere. No matter what the club do it’s wrong or twisted in to another story. It’s a big reset no one will like, but it’s happening move on. If you can’t support the team don’t attend the match as all your doing is adding to the opposition. I’m not saying you don’t have a voice but let’s keep it away from the Turf so it doesn’t get out of hand like it is on this thread.

Looking at the squad list. We need to let about 3 Cbs go.
With the players leaving/close to leaving I think we need.
LB
CM
LW
LW
RW
RW
ST
ST
With at least one in each position first team quality.
Not looking good.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The increasingly notable thing about our strategy is that not only are we selling virtually all of Kompany’s overseas signings, we're also looking in a very different market for replacements. The only analytics led potential "gems" signed thus far are Hountondji and Pires who arrived early in the window. Anthony (should he sign), Humphrys, Hannibal, and the various links to Whittaker, Sarmiento, Johnston and Laurent etc are all much more conventional signings in terms where they are sourced from. It's a real shift.
I agree with Dandeclaret about Laurent incidentally- if he's midfield cover who adds character in the squad, I'm fine with that. It's about building a squad culture that drives itself and we badly lacked that last season.

Our biggest issue last season was mentality. This guy was one cupcake short of a picnic. I’m glad we are moving away from that model, put it that way.Commy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 7:22 pmAssignon to Villa.

Sounds like Benfica are paying a €4m loan fee for Amdouni.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Longsider has gone really quiet on incomings. That can't be a good sign.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
It's a strange change of approach. Especially as we were apparently looking to sign Assignon and possibly JBL for decent sized fees earlier in the summer. I wonder what's happened since then for this sudden change.claretspice wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 7:11 pmThe increasingly notable thing about our strategy is that not only are we selling virtually all of Kompany’s overseas signings, we're also looking in a very different market for replacements. I'm wondering if there's been a boardroom fall out and some of the directors have basically put their foot down on the Pace approach

Hands up everyone who thought we'd ever see Vitinho going for £8,000,000.

My mistake I was relying on my very poor memory. Having just had a look there was a net profit in 2022 and 2023 in total of £6m,, so the only concern could be the accounts for 2024 and beyond

Got to wonder if McInally will actually leave. With Ekdal and Berge out, he’s 4-5th in line. He might be needed.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I don’t think we need to let any go (Delcroix perhaps).
Worrall
McNally
Esteve
Humphries
Ekdal - injury prone.
Beyer - he’s long term injured. Won’t be going anywhere.
Delcroix - has anyone even see him? He’s the one I’d get shut of.
CJER - he’s versatile so can play multiple positions.

Maxwell Cornet rumoured to be going to Southampton on a season long loan ... just 1 goal in 21 games for West Ham since he left us in July 2022, although he's had a bad trot with injuries ..

If rumours are to be believed, they don’t have the money to pay for two £20m+ players.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
From what's been reported they couldn't afford both
Unless we loaned him

The lad from Celtic did really well at West Brom so whilst he seems to have had issues with injuries, £3m feels a reasonable gamble. I’d argue that’s for cover not a first choice, bench option?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Watching tonight, if we sign a winger he will be playing.

They’re pretty brassic though, maybe they are saying that with their own finances as context?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:23 pmsome of the WBA fans seem to think that 3 is too much for him.......

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Ipswich trying to sign Eduoard from Palace too. Nixon saying the deal is lined up. Surely means they wouldn’t get Foster as well.

They aren't paying a fee for Foster though, only wages and a fee if they stay up. So it doesn't change a lot other than numbers.

…and still the only person reporting the Foster move is Sacha.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
One thing I don't understand is, it's one thing to sign for a manager, as some of these players did for Kompany, but they aren't all going to play for him again in the clubs they have been sold to, so what's the issue? They can't say they only came for Kompany then leave to go elsewhere where is isn't.

My thoughts as well. I honestly can't work that one out. Most of them also said they had always wanted to play in England and they are all going out of England.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:05 pmOne thing I don't understand is, it's one thing to sign for a manager, as some of these players did for Kompany, but they aren't all going to play for him again in the clubs they have been sold to, so what's the issue?
