2 decent passes and we're undone, we need to learn to try it, as we did against Luton, instead of overplaying.
Some good individual performances, some talented players, some not so talented as well, but a long way from being a team. Not a criticism as it's understandable tonight.

Let's give the lad a break, shall we?
Hi Goalposts,
Sorry my comment wasn't intended for you.

To be fair to Jay Rod, you’re asking a lot at 35 to start him three games in a row.
I’m sure he never thought he’d be playing this much.

Totally agree
Leaving the lad out to dry here. Looks like he’s levels below everyone else on the pitch.
Not sure it helps we have a striker playing right wing that’s not used to tracking back
Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
Jay should be back up only now
We need pace
We need pace
Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
Egan-Riley is way off the pace and looks out of place.
JRod is done. He can’t play at this level. He might score but he does nothing to occupy CB’s and that’s where the goal came from.
Why are we playing a striker at right wing? He’s so poor positionally, and he looks poor technically.
The rest look good.

Clearly thought he could intercept it with his feet.
Bad decision.

Fair play to them, we haven’t had anything going forward which is expected with no wingers or hour main striker but there are 100% some foundations out there to a solid team.

We're playing away at a Premier League club..with an untried line up in a meaningless irrelevant cup game.
Just saying.

Sounds like we've done ok so far going to watch the second half. How many people would believe you a year ago if you said "in a years time, we'll have no wingers available for the 4th game of the season"

Isn't Houtondji a target man type striker? I know we have no options, but we are really not doing the lad any favours here keep sticking him out on the wings where he clearly doesn't have a clue.

We’ve looked alright but Parker’s football, like Kompany’s, needs some one on one threat, particularly in the wing play. We don’t have any at all on the pitch tonight so that’s why we lack a threat in the final third really. It’s paramount we add attacking options. Humphreys has looked sound at left back.

Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
I think we've done ok, just desperately lacking any sort of pace to be effective on the break

We are absolutely terrible going forward. Never look like creating anything past the half way line. Jay rod isn’t good enough to play non league football on current form
Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
And pace is why we were so dangerous last time in the Championship.

Think we've done okay. We need to sort out attacking players before end of transfer window.

I feel bad for J-Rod but the lad is running in treacle.
We don't look a bad side till were in their half.

Apart from the goal, we've looked pretty fair, nothing outstanding, but of course, some of the players will practically only have met each other today.
Should have enough to see off those bellends on Saturday.

I hope Matt is not at the match. He should be on the hotline all night.

That final play then, hountonji running in behind, get him in the number 9 position and let him worry the cbs

I think McNally would do more running in behind than Jay. He’s like an old man playing walking pace football123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:20 pmThat final play then, hountonji running in behind, get him in the number 9 position and let him worry the cbs

All jokes aside this team would look so much better by swapping Jay and Hountondji around

Some positives tbf. Most of them from a defensive point of view in spite of the goal but none from an attacking point of view. Very much highlighting where we need to recruit for and/or retain. No attacking threat whatsoever.

We lack some attacking threat but not too bad considering.

I don’t understand why we are asking Jay Rod to play as this pressing number 10/9 that’s not his game anymoreblatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:21 pmI think McNally would do more running in behind than Jay. He’s like an old man playing walking pace football
Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
A surprisingly fine performance with some players looking really sharp.
I'm hoping this comes back to bite me, but we could play until this time tomorrow night and we wouldn't score with that forward line.
We desperately need some attacking signings.

Sat watching in a bar a few strong cocktails deep but…think we’ve been alright myself. What do you expect with that line up? Hannibal is full of energy.

Treat it as a friendly match. Get minutes in the legs.
Agree about Rodriguez, though. He really is struggling. This might’ve been one season too much.

Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
Even when he was younger it wasn't really his game. If he's going to play he's got to basically do what Barnes did for us around the edge of the box123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:22 pmI don’t understand why we are asking Jay Rod to play as this pressing number 10/9 that’s not his game anymore
Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
Hannibal looks good, could be a brilliant signing. If we can do another 2/3 signings like him then we could be looking alright still.

I can’t say I would say any of them have been poor and positively the opposite, if pushed Brownhill has been quiet

A good half, because none of us give a toss about winning, including Parker, it is all about judging team spirit and the quality of individual players. I’ve enjoyed it despite the zero creativity.

Think Parker will learn a lot from this game. Humphreys & Worrall have been sound on their debuts, and Hannibal full of energy.Egan Riley looks slow, and we might see Connor play second half. Our GK has kept us in the game. Sadly poor old Jay is looking like its too much for him at his age. Hopefully Foster can come on and win the fans back

It’s going to take some getting used to watching a cb that isn’t as quick as O’Shea, Worrall nowhere near the same pace but looks to read the game well
